It was their last #1 hit. In 1973 they had a #7 hit with Masterpiece and that was their last top 10 hit although they hit the top 40 another 6 times. It goes without saying that they charted better on the R&B Billboard charts than they did on the top 40. Motown at it's finest 4sure. Their 5cd box set Emperors Of Soul (1994) is great.

People Under the Stairs-”Trippin’ at the Disco”

People Under The Stairs is an underground hip-hop group from LA.

The Passion of Weiss best describes their latest single/video:

In predictable People Under the Stairs fashion, the video for “Trippin’ at the Disco,” the lead single from “Carried Away,” released today on Om Records, remains severely unsung, rivaling Alchemist and Oh No’s “Under Siege” for funniest rap video of the year. Assuming the premise that “in March of 1980 two young rappers from Los Angeles appeared on the ‘Chikara Kurahashi Hit Station’ variety show in Tokyo.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
