Pope: Rock Music a "vehicle of anti-religion"

Recommended Posts

It scares me though that some people believe in him and see him as God. Sad

The sheep faction of humanity have always been there and will remain. Leaders change but the sheep are unchanging in their blind devotion. <_>

Nice to know I'm not alone. Though... I just finally came to terms with myself on this. I have studied mythology since about the seventh grade. Though, it's funny we use the term "mythology". The Norse, Greek, Roman, Hindu, Buhdist gods are or were just as real as the god of christians. They could all cite teachings and writings to confirm this existence. Then.... christianity took the world with a brutal force which is only comparitive to the initial rise of Islam. I fought the feeling of truth in myself... wait... if I stop believing in god, I will go to hell.... wait... no god.... no hell.

gah... off topic.

The scariest thing about this guy isn't about faith itself, most people NEED faith to live complete lives. The scary thing is the march of ignorance which he may lead.

i hate all organised religion. AFAIC, if there are still catholics who suffer poverty and hunger, then the pope et al. are all hypocrites so fuck 'em. and if i'm gonna believe in hypocrites or fairy tales, i'll choose my own gods.

I don't think any of the regulars here are religious...

Anyway, I don't believe in any god myself but sometimes religion is good for people. I don't meanthat people should believe that man was made of dirt and god blew on him to give him life. I mean, following the good advices most religions give about life, is good.

People usually do. Of course, when you have all the money and all the guns, you can make people accept your god. If I decide to believe in a higher power again, I'm going nordic. For Valhalla!

I consider religion the same as drugs, or alcohol. Its just a crutch to lean on. I would lean more to taoism than any christian religion. The taiost priest I studied under actually worked as a bouncer in a lounge. He slept on the floor of his room on a blanket, and gave any excess money he had after his rent to charities such as the food bank. He actually worked with the poor, and disabled. Seeing the pope with his rich trappings disgusts me to no end.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
