Dozy UK cat trapped in house fed via letter box

29.03.05

LONDON - The owners of a cat trapped for a week in the home of a holidaying neighbour have been pushing ice-cubes and cat food through the letter box to keep their pet -- named Lucky -- alive.

The Daily Express newspaper on Monday said the black-and-white cat was spotted fast asleep in the neighbour's house after she went missing from her home near Bristol, southwest England.

"I just hope our neighbour has gone away for a week and not for months," owner Tracey Venables, 31, told the newspaper.

Venables said it was likely Lucky had slipped into the neighbour's house unnoticed before the man headed off on holiday ahead of the Easter weekend.

Police have told Venables they are powerless to release her errant cat.

"It's absolutely infuriating because she is so close but we cannot get to her," said the mother-of-two, who added she would break in should Lucky show any signs of ill health.

"I don't care if I get arrested."

I would have already broken in and rescued the cat... The cop's excuse seems lame - would they have said the same thing if it was a person?

No litterbox?? The guy will have to move when he gets back.

:yup:

I agree with Dude and RBD too. What kind of cat owner doesn't just force their way in? The neighbors can be settled with later.

this is amazing to me cause i thought Brits were really animal-lovers...then again, i saw the deal at the Bath Quarantine facility just about a year ago...very clean but totally more about dogs than cats.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
