  1. I have called you children, I have called you son. What is there to answer if I'm the only one? Morning comes in Paradise, morning comes in light. Still I must obey, still I must invite. If there's anything to say, if there's anything to do, If there's any other way, I'll do anything for you. I was dressed embarrassment. I was dressed in wine. If you had a part of me, will you take you're time? Even if I come back, even if I die Is there some idea to replace my life? Like a father to impress; Like a mother's mourning dress, If you ever make a mess, I'll do anything for you I have called you preacher; I have called you son. If you have a father or if you haven't one, I'll do anything for you. I did everything for you Source: Lyrics Mania
  2. (M. Jagger/K. Richards) Down in the graveyard where we have our tryst The air smells sweet, the air smells sick He never smiles, his mouth merely twists The breath in my lungs feels clinging and thick But I know his name, he's called Mr. D. And one of these days he's gonna set you free Human skulls is hangin' right 'round his neck The palms of my hands is clammy and wet Lord, I was dancin', dancin', dancin' so free Dancin', dancin', dancin' so free Dancin', Lord, keep your hand off me Dancin' with Mr. D., with Mr. D., with Mr. D. Will it be poison put in my glass Will it be slow or will it be fast? The bite of a snake, the sting of a spider A drink of Belladonna on a Toussaint night Hiding in a corner in New York City Lookin' down a fourty-four in West Virginia I was dancin', dancin', dancin' so free Dancin', dancin', dancin' so free Dancin', Lord, keep your hand off me Dancin' with Mr. D., with Mr. D., with Mr. D. One night I was dancin' with a lady in black Wearin' black silk gloves and a black silk hat She looked at me longin' with black velvet eyes She gazed at me strange all cunning and wise Then I saw the flesh just fall off her bones The eyes in her skull was burning like coals Lord, have mercy, fire and brimstone I was dancin' with Mrs. D. Lord, I was dancin', dancin', dancin' so free I was dancin', dancin', dancin' so free Dancin', dancin', dancin' so free Dancin', dancin' Source: Sing365

  4. (From the cd Surprise) Snowman sittin' in the sun doesn't have time to waste He had a little bit too much fun Now his head's erased Back in the house, family of three Two doin' the laundry and one in the nursery We brought a brand new baby back from Bangladesh Thought we'd name her Emily She's beautiful. Beautiful Yes, sir, head's erased, brain's a bowl of jelly Hasn't hurt his sense of taste Judging from his belly But back in the house, family of four now Two doin' the laundry and two on he kitchen floor We brought a brand new baby back from mainland China Sailed across the China Sea She's beautiful. Beautiful Go-kart sittin' in the shade You don't need a ticket to ride It's summertime, summertime Slip down a water slide Little kid dancin' in the grass Legs like rubber band It's summertime, summertime There's a line at the candy stand Keep an eye on them children Eye on them children in the pool You better keep an eye on them children Eye on them children in the pool We brought a brand new baby back from Kosovo That was nearly seven years ago He cried all night, could not sleep His eyes were bright, dark and deep Source
  5. And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson, Jesus loves you more than you will know. God bless you, please Mrs. Robinson. Heaven holds a place for those who pray, Hey, hey, hey We'd like to know a little bit about your for our files We'd like to help you learn to help yourself. Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes, Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home. And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson, Jesus loves you more than you will know. God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson. Heaven holds a place for those who pray, Hey, hey, hey Hide in the hiding place where no one ever goes. Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes. It's a little secret just the Robinsons' affair. Most of all you've got to hide it from the kids. Koo-koo-ka-choo, Mrs. Robinson, Jesus loves you more than you will know. God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson. Heaven holds a place for those who pray, Hey, hey, hey Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon. Going to the candidate's debate. Laugh about it, shout about it When you've got to choose Every way you look at this you lose. Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio, Our nation turns it's lonely eyes to you. What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson. Jotting Joe has left and gone away, Hey hey hey. Source: Lyrics On Demand

  7. Russian music download site sends defiant message to US Russian music download site allofmp3.com insisted it was a legitimate business and said US accusations of piracy were merely an excuse to keep Russia out of the World Trade Organisation. "The US government is conveniently using allofmp3 as an issue to gain further concessions from Russia," said company boss Vadim Mamotin and other executives. "We operate under Russian law, we pay taxes in Russia and we pay royalties," they said in response to journalists' questions in an online news conference. Read more at Breitbart
  8. Universal Music, the world’s largest record company, has launched the established media industry’s first legal action against user-generated internet sites in the wake of its distribution deal last week with YouTube, the most popular video-sharing website. In separate lawsuits, Universal alleged that Grouper.com – recently acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment – and Bolt.com had built up traffic by encouraging users to share music videos from its artists without their permission. In one incident, it claimed a video for the Mariah Carey song “Shake it Off” was viewed more than 50,000 times on Grouper without the company’s permission. Read more Smart move--alienate consumers
  9. Robert Christgau, the self-proclaimed “Dean of American Rock Critics”, has been writing reviews and essays about music since 1967. He’s best known for his tenure at the Village Voice from 1969 until just recently, where he regularly penned Consumer Guides and oversaw the publication’s annual Pazz and Jop Poll. Christgau enjoys a celebrated reputation because he was one of the first journalists to write critically about rock music and culture, and he always stayed on the cutting edge of the changing music scene. Over the telephone, Christgau comes off as arrogant and opinionated, but also charming and intelligent. He doesn’t mince words or suffer foolish opinions. Christgau challenges conventional wisdom and anecdotal evidence as easily as he offers his own diatribes and personal observations. He recently spoke with PopMatters on a variety of journalistic and musical topics. The Dean was generous with his comments, and frequently laughed during the conversation. He was serious, but he was not pretentious in his analysis of the current culture. Read more at Pop Matters

  12. Some educators, disgusted by what they see as 'simulated sex,' are banning it at school functions. Others say to relax -- it's just this generation's 'flirtation.' The grainy high school dance video is lurid. A teenage boy dances behind his winter-formal date, hands on her hips, thrusting his pelvis against her while she hitches up her satiny gown and bends at the waist. Another couple dance facing each other, their bodies enmeshed and their hips gyrating in a frenzy. A boy approaches a third couple, nearly sandwiching the girl between himself and her partner. Teenagers call it "freaking," a style of dance made popular on MTV. Educators call it "simulated sex" that has no place at school dances. This clash between outraged adults and sexualized teens is being played out at homecoming dances, winter formals and proms across the nation, most recently at Aliso Niguel High School in Aliso Viejo. 13. 14. The Megaron looks stunning! Best the sound is unbelievable *** The new crown jewell of concert halls in Los Angeles is the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Walt Disney's widow gave over 50 million dollars to start the project - final cost was $274 million. Frank Gehry (who did the Bilbao in Spain) was the architect. Havent checked it out yet - I'm waiting for the right show...
  15. A ten minute walk up Wilshire Boulevard and you will arrive at Fremont Place - one time home to Nat King Cole, Muhammed Ali and assorted Hollywood Royalty
  16. We have a shopping area of restaurants and coffe shops called Larchmont Village, which is just south of Paramount Pictures. I walk a couple times of the week thru Hancock Park to get there. The house with the white wall in front of it looks kind of run down now--my guess is that the wall was added (shamefully)--but this is Marvin Gaye's old home, and the place where his father shot him. It's not really in Hancock Park proper...but its only a short drive South, so it was listed that way because this is a music forum

  19. What's the gothic building, Slum? Love the alcoves and the metal work *** Moving up Wilshire Blvd a few blocks past the Los Altos Hotel to Lucerne is the house that Willard and Ben was shot in--you might also recognize it from some of the Addams Family TV Movies. "The house is predominately Queen Anne Victorian style with Romanesque and Colonial Revival accents. It was sold in 1919 to Howard Verbeck, an interior designer, who used it as offices of his Potter Park Studio in addition to a residence for him and his wife. In 1923, the Verbecks purchased the property at 637 S. Lucerne Blvd. and moved the home in two pieces at 1 a.m. on June 28, 1924. Twelve trucks hoisted the rear half of the mansion off its foundation and moved it while 100 guests, including the mayor, partied in the house during the four-hour journey down Wilshire." :)
  20. Funny, but the ending needs tweaked - the casting was great
  21. A block behind the Los Altos apartments on Wilshire Boulevard is where the mansion stood that was used in the movie Sunset Boulevard...
