  1. Well, here we are again. Weather has gotten chilly lately here in LA, so I think it may be time for a trip to the movie theaters. Been playing tennis lately, so I might get a set in on Saturday. Otherwise, if I can get Kiwi to fire up his plane, we might crash this party Whataboutyoupeople?
  2. I dont think Scientology will enter in to the entertainment product. Frankly, I'd rather have Tom and Paula than the lawyers and bean counters who currently run the show - at least they come from the creative community
  3. Beck recenlty appeared on Halloween at KCRW's studio for a full session on Morning Becomes Eclectic to play songs off of his new album, "The Information". You can listen to show or watch the video right HERE
  4. Shakira, the Colombian singer and songwriter who is both an ambitious artist and a hip-swiveling sex symbol, reigned over Latin music at the Latin Grammy Awards, which were held for the first time in New York City last night at Madison Square Garden. The show began and ended with New York City’s durable Latin style, salsa. Read more at the NYTimes
  5. Here is another video of the band, playing live at a small club. The sound quality is a little rough, but the band sounds pretty tight, nonetheless
  6. Crusing around the web today at Antville, I discovered this catchy pop/punk band out of Beijing. I think the video itself is a satire of sorts - but the music speaks for itself. Enjoy.
  7. Sometimes things get clogged when you visit a lot of sites--find your cache and empty it...

  9. Sex Increases Longevity and More Fans of abstinence had better be sitting down. "Saving yourself" before the big game, the big business deal, the big hoedown or the big bakeoff may indeed confer some moral benefit. But corporeally it does absolutely zip. There's no evidence it sharpens your competitive edge. The best that modern science can say for sexual abstinence is that it's harmless when practiced in moderation. Having regular and enthusiastic sex, by contrast, confers a host of measurable physiological advantages, be you male or female. (This assumes that you are engaging in sex without contracting a sexually transmitted disease.) In one of the most credible studies correlating overall health with sexual frequency, Queens University in Belfast tracked the mortality of about 1,000 middle-aged men over the course of a decade. The study was designed to compare persons of comparable circumstances, age and health. Its findings, published in 1997 in the British Medical Journal, were that men who reported the highest frequency of orgasm enjoyed a death rate half that of the laggards Read more at Forbes
  10. Union Products, the company that has been making plastic Pink Flamingos as lawn ornaments since 1957, stopped production of the kitsch icon a few months ago, and is closing its doors today. This was a year before the Flamingo's 50th Birthday. The pink flamingo has gone from a piece of the Florida boom and Florida exotica to being a symbol of trash culture to now becoming a combination of all we know — kitsch, history, simplicity and elegance. Created in 1957 by Don Featherstone, who recently published a book called The Original Pink Flamingos: Splendor on the Grass, was getting a commemorative 50th Anniversary Gold Plastic Edition ready for 2007, which would have been the culmination of kitsch, and possibly its complete sublimation into something past that. 12. Their infectious melodies, flamboyant frontman and multiracial mix made Culture Club a sunny beacon of 1980s pop. Now, though, it's war. Two of the band's founding members told The Associated Press on Thursday that they're furious with Boy George, who recently accepted a songwriting award without telling them, labeled their new vocalist "dreadful" and, they claim, made their lives a misery. 13. I think in the short run, the media on cellphones will continue to be a bit lame--but a couple years down the road, who knows... I expect Apple to introduce the IPhone in January with media components--we will see
  14. The world will run out of seafood by 2048 if steep declines in marine species continue at current rates, according to a study released today by an international group of ecologists and economists. The paper, published in the journal Science, concludes that overfishing, pollution, and other environmental factors are wiping out important species across the globe, hampering the ocean's ability to produce seafood, filter nutrients and resist the spread of disease. 15. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Film star Tom Cruise has teamed up with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. to resurrect United Artists, the movie studio founded 87 years ago by screen legends Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and others, MGM said on Thursday. The partnership, under which Cruise would star in and produce films for UA with his production partner, Paula Wagner, comes about two months after the bitter end of Cruise's 14-year production deal with Paramount Pictures. Wagner will serve as chief executive of the United Artists. Cruise and Wagner will exercise control over United Artists' production slate, from development to the ability to commit financial resources to new pictures, MGM said in a statement announcing the deal. The new UA will be located in Los Angeles. Read more at Reuters

She dropped by Rolling Stone the other day and shed light on the following: Courtney on the bad, brown acid at Altamont, for which she claims her father was directly responsible.
