  1. He looks better as a blond probably got lazy when the heroin took over
  2. DJ TP1965 has been ripping up the Soul & Jazz Forum with some pretty cool videos as of late. Tonight he presents drummer extraordinaires Elvin Jones and Art Blakey in a showdown battle; jazz female legends-- Ella Fitzgerald (crooning a classic in an Abbot & Costello western)--Sarah Vaughan (in a rare early television appearance)--and Nina Simone in an animated video; jazz pianist McCoy Turner in a clip from his prime; trumpet player Herb Albert performing at the Monterrey Jazz Festival; and the number one world dance hit from from English boys Jez Colin and Matt Cooper of The Latin Project. If you love jazz, you won't want to miss these classics. And you can watch them all HERE at your leisure. Enjoy.
  3. They are both fantastic drummers, but Elvin Jones got his ass kicked that night
  4. The second song was a better song. Was that the same singer as in the first song? I'm not their biggest fan, so I'm probably not the best person to ask
  5. I think that episode was shot on the Warner Ranch, but I'm not sure. Living in LA, I always check the backgrounds of the sets for signs.
  6. Interesting. Jazz music in a country setting. That must be one of the first music videos. Here is some info on Abbot & Costello: Abbott and Costello William (Bud) Abbott and Lou Costello (born Louis Francis Cristillo) were an American comedy duo whose work in radio, film and television made them one of the most popular teams in the history of comedy. Thanks to the endurance of their most popular and influential routine, "Who's on First?"---whose rapid-fire word play and comprehension confusion set the preponderant framework for most of their best-known routines---the team is, as a result, featured in the Baseball Hall of Fame. 8. Thanx for helping class up our Soul/Jazz Forum
  9. There is another factor. The move of music that people want to hear from Record labels to the independent route
  10. Happy to help - but Littlnemo should get the credit.
  11. Ars Technica suggests that file-sharing isn't to blame - the real factor is the consumer's move from buying cds to buying digital singles. Read More
  12. News Corp. and NBC have announced a deal to create a new video distribution site, dubbed the "YouTube killer" by many. The companies have also formed partnerships with a number of big players, including Yahoo!, Microsoft, and Time Warner/AOL to supply content and provide distribution channels. The service, which currently does not have a name, will launch this summer with a number of TV shows and movie content. The full list of TV shows that will be available at launch, according to News Corp., will include Heroes, 24, House, My Name Is Earl, Saturday Night Live, Friday Night Lights, The Riches, 30 Rock, The Simpsons, The Tonight Show, Prison Break, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader, and Top Chef—"plus hits from the studios' vast television libraries." The service will also feature movies, including Borat, Little Miss Sunshine, Devil Wears Prada, The Bourne Identity, and Bourne Supremacy at launch. Read more at Ars Technica
  13. NEW YORK - Activist groups sued the parent company of Comedy Central on Thursday, claiming the cable network improperly asked the video-sharing site YouTube to remove a parody of the network's "The Colbert Report." Although the video in question contained clips taken from the television show, MoveOn.org Civic Action and Brave New Films LLC argued that their use was protected under "fair use" provisions of copyright law. They said Viacom Inc. should have known the use was legal and thus its complaint to YouTube to have the video blocked amounted to a "misrepresentation" that is subject to damages under the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act. 14. why do you think he's a phony? in my opinion, he is one of the few good guys
  15. I think you are misinterpreting Gore's intentions. He started lecturing on this issue many years ago - before it became fashionable. It wasn't until the film was released that I was even aware of his involvement. I agree it's a personal crusade - but I truly believe it's an honorable one...not a self-servicing tactic. See the film...you might have a different opinion about him, even if you disagree on the issue
  16. The National - Fake Empire The first cut off their upcoming cd, ' Boxer '
  17. I don't think it's being extremist or alarming to say that our oceans, lands, water and air need cleaned up. Debating the cause while ignoring the problems does not help any of us.
  18. If you didnt have people like Gore raising alarms, the environment is going to continue to suffer. I don't know whether there is global warming or not; but I do know that our weather patterns are strange, our oceans and air are growing more polluted, more and more animals are threatened with extinction, deforestation is spreading, and our natural ecosytems are getting more and more fucked up as our populations grow. Do you suggest, MI, that those problems are hyperbole? My senses tell me those problems are real--and no politician or scientist is going to tell me otherwise.
