  1. It was a huge weekend for Childish Gambino. He concluded weekend one of Coachella 2019 where he served as a headliner for the opening night. Following his set, his long-awaited film, Guava Island starring Rihanna, debuted on YouTube's Coachella stream as well as Amazon Prime. The film was met with positive reception from fans and critics alike, proving to be another successful artistic endeavor for Gambino. Now, Rihanna's taken to Instagram to thank the Atlanta rapper, as well as her fans, for supporting the film. Caroline McCredie/Getty Images If you haven't seen Guava Island, you should definitely check it out when you have the chance. Rihanna shared a clip from the film of Childish Gambino's character singing to her on a beach and penned a heartfelt thank you to everyone who watched it as well as Gambino and the film's staff for welcoming her with open arms. "wow! the response to #GuavaIsland has been quite overwhelming," she wrote. "So happy you guys felt the beauty in this film! @childishgambino you are a true gem to the culture. I’m so proud of you and the work you put into making this film. I felt how close this was to you and your entire team! Thank you for trusting me with this role! 2. Nipsey Hussle continues to make moves on the Billboard charts following his untimely death. The last single he released while he was alive, "Racks In The Middle," has secured a spot in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs, according to Billboard. The single, which features Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy, marks Nipsey's first song to enter the top 10 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart. The song jumped six positions from #15 to #9. Vivien Killilea/Getty Images "Racks In The Middle" marked the last single Nipsey released while he was living. Its leap on the chart is largely due to streaming numbers which increased by 44% this week. Additionally, it jumped from 14 to 7 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart. What's even more impressive is that "Racks" has leaped into the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is currently sitting at #26 after sitting at #44. It's also in the top 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs. While the song's been doing well on the charts, his debut studio album, Victory Lap has maintained a position in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. The rapper's album is currently sitting at #3 after moving 63K units that week. Following the rapper's death, Victory Lap re-entered the Billboard 200 at #2 while four other projects of his -- Slauson Boy, Crenshaw, The Marathon, and Mailbox Money -- made their way on the chart for the first time ever. 4. Following the death of XXXTENTACION, his mother revealed that he left one last surprise. The rapper was expecting a son before his death with his girlfriend, Jenesis Sanchez. Although she, nor X's mother, have tried to contest that the late rapper is the father, she's reportedly requesting DNA samples to prove that XXXTENTACION is indeed the father. Bennett Raglin/Getty Images Jenesis gave birth to Gekyume Onfroy in January 26th. According to The Blast, she's filed a petition to confirm that XXXTENTACION is the father of Gekyume. Jenesis explained that she and XXXTENTACION lived together, having “sexual relations during the time that Gekyume was conceived from February 19 through June 18, 2018, the day of the Decedent’s death.” She simply wants to prove that XXXTENTACION is the father of her child since they weren't married. She said that nobody has refuted claims that X is the dad but she wants concrete evidence. She's requested that the court allow her to obtain biological samples of XXXTENTACION in order to move forward with scientific testing and establish that the rapper is legally the father of Gekyume. She asked the court to demand that the Office of the Broward County Medical Examiner and Trauma Services supply DNA samples of X to the scientific testing lab. In other XXX-related news, the rapper landed himself 10 Billboard Music Award nominations including Top Male Artist and Top Billboard 200 artist. View the full article
  5. Lil B has an extensive discography that consists of dozens of mixtapes, albums, and compilation albums. Since then, he hasn't dropped a whole lot of music but now, he's compensated for his absence with a brand new 42-track project. There's a lot that's gone on in the world in the past few months alone that seemed to spark creative inspiration for The Based God. The rapper's new project, 28 Wit A Ladder consists of 42 songs that reference some of the biggest headlines of the year. Lil B references the R. Kelly, Gayle King, as well as Serge Ibaka. He also pays homage to Nipsey Hussle on the second track, "RIP Nipsey." Lil B also rides the "country-trap" wave on "Cowboy Riding Horses In Illinois." Peep his new project below. 7. According to MUSO, a data firm that analyzes that specializes in web-based private eye work, Game of Throne's premiere was pirated a whopping 54 million times within 24 hours of its original airing. MUSO also lists the viewership "Winterfell" in the 17 million range. When you account for the successive airings that ensued after its 10 pm start time, the total easily eclipsed the 1 billion mark in total views. Based on their findings, the highest piracy rates were reported in China and India. MUSO believes the Chinese GOT fanbase was mad with envy over the government 's censorship plan that saw a 6-minute sex scene omitted from the Mandarin-Cantonese regional broadcasts - so planned around the wall. “Despite considerable global efforts to tackle piracy over the past couple of years, this data shows that consumers are still being driven to unlicensed sources to find content,” MUSO chairman Andy Chatterley wrote in a statement. “It’s imperative that rights holders understand that piracy audiences are some of their most dedicated fans, which, above all else, presents a vast commercial opportunity.” As a consequence of the big hype job leading into Season 8, many GOT fans resorted to streaming/torrenting the first 7 Seasons in the months that preceded Sunday's unveiling. MUSO says Game of Thrones content occupies just about every spot in the field surveys they've employed in the past month or so. Interestingly enough, streaming partners like Amazon and Hulu were not counted among the 54 mill they found in the ballot box. [Via] View the full article
  8. Missy Elliott has been pretty low key as of late, except for her milestone moments of accepting some pretty prestigious awards such as the doctorate from Berklee College of Music. A few weeks back, however, she and Lizzo teamed up for a fire track dubbed "Tempo" that simply begs to be repeated before heading out for a night. The latest on the "Lose Control" music maker is that she's finished working on a project of her own that she's been working on "since last year." In the clip below, you can see Missy vibing out to Soul II Soul's "Keep On Movin'" clearly feeling all kinds of excited about the unnamed project. "I just finished a long project I been working on since last year & this my mood “Keep On Movin” I’m bout to show yall I’m on some next ish," she captioned the image. We're ready when you are, Missy. Before the new year, Missy was nominated for a spot in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, while she didn't end up winning, she did speak on the importance of her nomination. "I hope it opens the door so people will be able to see that they [female songwriters and producers] do exist out there. I was talking to Queen Latifah the other day, saying it’s so crazy how people don’t know that there was a Patrice Rushen, who did a lot of her own stuff; an Angela Winbush … so many before me that people aren’t aware of," she said. "If I [win], I’ll have the biggest party. And if I don’t, I’ll still have a big party because I’m just grateful, and it sparks the conversation for someone that comes after me." View the full article

  10. After filming a video in bed telling fans that they would be Seahawks for life after Russell Wilson signed a $140 million contract extension, Ciara and her husband got the whole world talking. Because of the location they decided to shoot the announcement in, many assumed that they had just finished celebrating as a couple before letting the world know. While Ciara chooses not to disclose what happened before they filmed the contract reveal, she maintains the fact that they went to sleep directly after publicizing it on social media. James Devaney/Getty Images Russell Wilson told the world about his incredible new contract extension with Seattle, announcing that he would be with the team for the long-run, becoming the highest-paid player in the NFL with his massive $140 million contract. The quarterback and his pop star wife have been in the media spotlight for quite some time and many expected that they had just finished some special activities before filming the announcement clip. During an appearance on Andy Cohen's show, Ciara declined to comment on what happened before the video but she says that directly after they shared it, they went right to bed. She also joked that her first big purchase will be an Hermes bag, which she could definitely have afforded before Russ signed the deal. Although Future and Ciara haven't been together for years now, people have still been wondering what could be going through Hendrix' mind after this development. 11. Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" was once a wholesome family affair, give or take a few PG-rated bars. Such is most certainly not the case for CupcakKe's bawdy rendition, which skews closer to X on the rating spectrum. CupcakKe has long made an artform out of lyrical pornography, never sparing a single detail where he sexcapades are concerned. Today, it would appear she saw an opportunity and seized it like only she can. And like that, "Old Town Road" became "Old Town Hoe," the likes of which the wild west has never seen. In an interesting twist of fate enough, CupcakKe has her work cut out for her on this go-around. Lil Nas X's lyrics and melodic flow lend themselves well to a hyper-sexualized variant, beginning with the title's own wordplay. "Once he paid my rent, we been fu*kin' ever since," she croons. "When he finger me, he gotta wear an oven mitt." Should such fantasies be up your alley, allow yourself room to indulge in CupcakKe's Westworldian vision. 13. Last month, the ill-timed death of actor Kristoff St. John left fans and family in a state of shock. The 52-year old actor was found lifeless in his California home February following sudden heart failure. Kristoff's filmography contains numerous cameos in an array of television series such as Roots: The Next Generations and The Cosby Show. However, the late actor was most recognized for his recurring role on the soap opera classic The Young and the Restless where he played the fictional character Neil Winters. The role made way for a Daytime Emmy Award as an Outstanding Younger Actor in Drama Series back in 1992. Since the actor's death, the family has been struggling to cope with the loss while also battling over the distribution of assets. To make matters more complicated, American Express is now reportedly sueing St. John's estate over unresolved debt. According to legal sources, the filed claim cites an owing sum of $33,007.30. The lawsuit was filed two months following the actor's death. As St. John has not left a will behind, both his father and daughter have filed legal motions to acquire administrator status over the estate. With this new hefty bill underway for immediate payment, things are sure to get trickier. [Via] View the full article
  14. If you're a resident of Flint, Michigan, you'd be within your rights to fire off a cheeky response at the mere suggestion of federal intervention. Flint's water supply has been a matter of concern since 2014 after high levels of lead were detected in the region's filtration system. It's taken the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act of 2016 a whopping three years to secure a base level of funding. Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images As of today, Flint will be receiving $77.7 million in federal funding to undo the problem, monies accrued from the aforementioned Nation Act, in conjunction with a state-approved loan cleared for an excess of $120 million in overall expenditures. “While we grateful for this funding it’s important to understand its not new funding,” said Flint's Director of Public Works in a statement to the press. "The federal government awarded this funding and is utilizing the MDEQ’s Drinking Water Revolving Fund as the mechanism to disperse it to the City of Flint." The underlying projects that were okayed under this proviso aim to complete a secondary water source pipeline. The funding will also go towards improving the city's pump station requirements and quotas, as well as the construction of a chemical feed plant that will be used to monitor the water supply on a day-by-day basis. 15. Brockhampton became one of the most exciting groups in hip-hop in the past few years. Unfortunately, as they inched closer towards breaking out into the mainstream in early 2018, they were also going through one of the most trying times as a group. They worked through the problems, resulting in the release of their #1 album, Iridescence and their documentary. They've been relatively quiet since then and many thought this could be a sign that the collective might be breaking up but Kevin Abstract has confirmed that's not the case. Kevin Abstract's focus on his solo work sparked speculation that the leader of Brockhampton would be abandoning the group in order to pursue a solo career. Abstract confirmed that's not the case, saying that there is new music from Brockhampton on the way but they're taking more time with it in comparison to the Saturation series. "BROCKHAMPTON IS NOT BREAKING UP THE NEW MUSIC SOUNDS GOOD AS HELL WE JUST NOT SPENDING 10 DAYS ON ALBUMS NO MORE," he wrote on Twitter. He explained his decision to work with producers outside of the Brockhampton camp isn't a sign that the group is breaking up. Abstract recently released ARIZONA Babywhich many believed was an EP. He explained that it's a full-length album but he'll be slowly releasing the project over time. Earlier today, he dropped off "Baby Boy." View the full article
  16. We've said it once and we'll say it again, Chrissy Teigen is all too good at her clap backs when it comes to unnecessary trolls commenting on her social media happenings. Whether it's someone asking for bikini pics instead of baby pics, someone having the audacity to comment on her son's baby helmet or (our favorite) her clap back to Donald Trump - Chrissy just knows how to put haters in their place. Tony Barson/FilmMagic/Getty The latest example comes from Twitter after a user responded to a photo of Chrissy with her husband John Legend and US Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Of course, the comment wasn't very nice since the user referred to the model as "fatty Teigen" and "chubby Teigen." The first remark saw the user referring to a time Chrissy had called out Ivanka Trump. "Fatty Tiegan at it again, attacking Ivanka Trump because she posts photos of her kids. Well, instead of Chubby Tiegan stuffing her face, she needs to realize Ivanka & her kids aren't illegals. How many illegals have multi millionaire Chubby Tiegan & her husband sponsored? NONE!" As for Chrissy's clap back to the man, it was plain and simple: "I hate to say this but...you are not a small person?also I don’t care about my weight sooooo this does not hurt." She added in another: "I can guarantee he is not a handsome man. Lol." View the full article
  17. Sources who conferred with Variety are saying that John Cena is the latest big name addition to the forthcoming Suicide Squad sequel. Cena's acquisition hasn't been finalized, but by all accounts, both sides are interested in putting pen to paper. Margot Robbie and Idris Elba have already been enlisted by Warner Bros. to begin shooting once the cast and production elements are jointly put in place. David M. Benett/Dave Benett/Getty Images It's implied that Margot Robbie will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn in the sequel, whereas Idris Elba will be granted the luxury of brand new character based around his likeness (not as a replacement for Will Smith's character). Otherwise, Jai Courtney returns as Captain Boomerang. Beyond that, the unfinished casting call is subject to who's available, and at what cost. As reported back in March, James Gunn is tackling the objective of following up Suicide Squad's moderate reputation by rebooting the major plotlines. Gunn's job will be to assuage the DC faithful's inquietude over the first installment's damaged rep. Gunn arrives on the scene with a positive rep within this genre of productivity. Suicide Squad II is tentatively slated to hit theaters on August 6th, 2021. Regardless of how the diehard comic fans felt about the first offering, it still amassed an eye-popping $746.8 million at the box office worldwide. How would you feel about Cena joining the lingering staff, comment below? [Via] View the full article
  18. Believe it or not, Brooklyn Nets veteran forward Jared Dudley has played a critical role in the team's first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. The 33-year old journeyman helped lock up Ben Simmons as the Nets stole Game 1 in Philly, but a strained calf kept him on the sidelines for Game 2, as the Sixers evened the series with a blowout victory. During his media availability today, the Nets' unexpected x-factor said that he'll be back in the lineup for the pivotal Game 3 on Thursday night, and he expects to play "a lot." He also had some thoughts about Simmons, and how the Nets can limit his output moving forward. "I think that Ben Simmons is a great player in transition. Once you slow him up in the half-court, I think he’s average. He’s a player that, when he picks up speed, he’s a load." This isn't the first time that Dudley has used his words to get in Simmons' head. Prior to the Nets' 111-102 win in Game 1, Dudley said in an interview on WFAN's “Carlin, Maggie and Bart”: “We will leave him wide open until he proves in this league that he can make it. Right now he’s not even attempting it. So we know that he’s not going to be able to do that for the most part." Simmons had just nine points and three assists in Game 1, but bounced back with a triple-double in Game 2 while Dudley watched from the sidelines. Game 3, airing on TNT, is scheduled to tipoff at 8pm ET tomorrow night. View the full article
  19. Another week has come and gone, bringing forth the moment you've all been waiting for. The TIDAL Wave playlist has been updated with a new dose of staff picks, drawing from the past seven days and a little earlier, should the song hold a special place in our hearts. While not quite as busy as some weeks tend to be, we did see a flurry of activity from Lil Uzi Vert, Anderson .Paak, Tyga, French Montana, Beast Coast, and several more. Of course, Paak's Ventura provided a wealth of material to sift through, including some gems with Andre 3000, Nate Dogg, and Smokey Robinson. A pair of Lil Uzi Vert singles captured the hearts of the masses, as well as a few of our own. Both "Sanguine Paradise" and "That's A Rack" emerged as fan favorites, with the Alex collective doubling down on their love of young Vert. Megan Thee Stallion's bawdy bedroom banger also caught a few votes, likewise did Tyga's D.A. Doman produced banger "Goddamn." As per usual, Devin CH looked beyond the box to bring some worldly flavor to the mix, while I opted to hold it down for the Beast Coast boys, in the name of their imminent debut. 20. It was a pretty rough for the Alliance of American Football. The league promised to be a development league to the NFL that could provide football fans with some entertaining games during the offseason. Unfortunately, after just eight weeks, the league completely seized all operations and had to fold. This left hundreds of players without jobs and more importantly, without the money they were owed from their contracts. There were reports that some players were even thrown out of hotel rooms and had to pay for their own flights home when news broke that the league was finished. According to a report from ESPN, it's now a little more obvious as to why the league had to shut down in the first place. The AAF filed a petition on Wednesday for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The league had $11,372,298.68 in assets and $48,366,188.90 in liabilities, with over $9 million of those liabilities being debts owed to creditors. Logan Riely/Getty Images "We are deeply disappointed to be taking this action," the AAF said in a statement Wednesday. "The AAF was created to be a dynamic, developmental professional football league powered by an unprecedented alliance between players, fans and the game. The AAF strove to create new opportunities for talented players, coaches, executives and officials while providing an exciting experience for fans. We are proud of the fact that our teams and players delivered on that goal." Chapter 7 bankruptcy is among one of the most common forms of bankruptcy and it means that the league will be able to sell off all of its assets in order to pay off the debts it owes. 22. Wendy Williams is single and ready to mingle. The famous talk show host recently split from her longtime husband after finding out that he had welcomed a child into the world with his mistress. Kevin Hunter has been fired from her production team and now, it seems as though Wendy has just about forgotten about him. Speaking to her live audience on her talk show, Williams revealed that her phone is blowing up right now because of all the men trying to take her out on dates. 50 Cent may occasionally refer to her as ET but it would appear as though a number of high-profile men want to get with Wendy Williams. Maybe they're just impressed that her soon-to-be-ex-husband had enough dough to cop his mistress a Ferrari and they want in on that bankroll. On the latest episode of her talk show, Wendy bragged that she kept getting distracted while reading her book because so many texts and phone calls were coming in. "All of a sudden, my cell phone rings and it's DJ Boof asking me out for dinner," says the entertainer before the camera cuts to Boof shaking his head. "Then, I get back to reading my book and my phone rings again. No, it wasn't Boof. It was Charlamagne! Charlamagne wanted to take me for dinner. So he says the night and he says the time and I said 'I can't go because I'm going out with Boof for dinner.'" Charlamagne ended up suggesting that since he also knows Boof, they should both take her out. Wendy seems to already be enjoying life as a single woman. Watch below. View the full article
  23. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has dominated the sports headlines for the last two months because of his alleged involvement in a prostitution ring at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida. Multiple men were picked up in the ring and authorities say they have video of these men receiving sexual services. In the aftermath of all of this, Kraft and his lawyers have been working like hell to make sure the video doesn't go public. We reported earlier this morning that Kraft and his lawyers were challenging the fourth amendment of the United States, saying the video would go against the law that protects citizens from unlawful searches and seizures. While his team is making a valiant effort, it seems as though it will be all for naught. Kevin Mazur/WireImage TMZ is reporting that the Assistant State Attorney in Palm Beach County has filed new documents stating that he is required by law to release the footage. Prosecutors have made it clear that the law states that this type of evidence must be disclosed when requested by the media, regardless of the contents. It has been revealed that the video will most likely release sometime soon, although it will be pixelated. Stay tuned for updates on the case. View the full article
  24. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have been engaged for just over a month now and have only been spotted in post-engagement bliss as they continue with their busy schedules working and balancing family time. Alex was a recent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and explained the moment he got down on one knee, revealing how it took six months to plan the special day. “I planned it for about six months and it was on a beach in the Bahamas,” Alex explained. “I had the ring, but what was interesting is the three days prior to me going down on one knee and getting engaged was I rehearsed three days in a row.” The retired baseball player further explained how he even practiced the whole proposal with his assistant, timing it around the sunset. “One time the sunset was at 6:27 [p.m.], the next day 6:29 [p.m.] and then the third day it was raining," he said. “So, I kind of came out at around 6:29 [p.m.] and it worked out well.” "We haven't started planning yet, you know, we just got engaged, and then right afterwards we started working right away and we're working the rest of the year so I don't know, I don't know what's going to happen. We haven't decided if we're going to squeeze it in somewhere of we're going to wait so you know..." the "Dinero" singer recently explained. 25. TIME's annual list of the most influential people of the year was revealed today, featuring a number of actors, athletes, artists and politicians broken down into the following five categories: Pioneers, Artists, Leaders, Icons, and Titans. Among the honorees was Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who was written about by billionaire tycoon Warren Buffett. Buffett says he first met the four-time NBA MVP over 10 years ago while filming a skit for his company, Berkshire Hathaway. In the article, he applauded James' "leadership skills, his sharp mind and ability to stay grounded" and concluded, "you’re just seeing the start of LeBron." Buffett writes: "I first met LeBron James more than a decade ago, when we filmed a skit for a Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting. I beat him in basketball in the video, so it was clearly comedy. We had a good time, and since that day, I’ve been impressed with his leadership skills, his sharp mind and his ability to stay grounded. People in LeBron’s position get tugged in different directions and have a lot of chances to make bad decisions. He’s kept his head, and that’s not easy. Early heroes will mold a person’s future. LeBron has justified the adulation of millions and millions of young people, thanks to his ability to live up to enormous expectations on the basketball court, his business successes in Hollywood and media, and his new I Promise School for disadvantaged kids in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. That adulation will make a positive difference in their lives. And you know what else is exciting? As great as he has been so far—on and off the court—you’re just seeing the start of LeBron."
