  1. Injury Reserve arrived on the scene with high expectations I initially felt they would never measure up to. In reality, Ritchie With a T and Stepa J. Groggs were only guilty of broaching a subject I personally never took a liking to: the current Zeitgeist and consumer culture. After re-listening to efforts like "Campfire" and the Rico Nasty-assisted "Jailbreak," I began to understand the faith bestowed upon them by Aminé in particular. It doesn't hurt that Injury Reserve are batting 1.00 when it comes to the juxtaposition created by their flashy visuals. On their latest single "Koruna & Lime," Ritchie, Stepa and their in-house producer Parker Corey re-position themselves as interdisciplinary artists. The premise for the video is simple yet effective. The performers take turns being carted around on a pully while they deliver their vocal parts. The drop of "Koruna & Lime" coincides with another major revelation, the group made yesterday on their joint Twitter account. Injury Reserve's debut LP will see light as of May 17th. The Loma Vista release is the first full-body project from the group since they debuted their Drive it Like it’s Stolen EP in 2017. Keep it locked for more. 3. Having been around some of the greats and enjoying a legendary career himself, Snoop Dogg has tons of memories to share with his fans on a regular basis. He can probably post one photo every day for several years and we wouldn't get bored. The Doggfather has spent time with some of the absolute legends in hip-hop and every Throwback Thursday, you can bet that we'll be getting a new moment from Uncle Snoop. Last week, he came through with a photo from a 1991 studio session with Dr. Dre while they were making The Chronic. Today, he's dropping another gem with his good ol' buddy Tupac Shakur. Snoop went back to his days with the long hair, posing behind Tupac, who proudly threw up his sign. The rapper rocked a fedora on his head, looking snazzy in a formal suit and dripping with gold on his fingers. Snoop looks smug in the back, clearly enjoying the night and peering over Pac's shoulder. "Look over your shoulder you’ll find me," wrote the artist as his caption. With so much of hip-hop's history involving Snoop Dogg, you better believe that he's going to take every moment available to remind folks exactly who he is. Take a look at his latest vintage shot below. View the full article

  12. Everyone mourns differently and for The Game, writing public letters to his late friend Nipsey Hussle may be an exercise in therapy. The rapper has vowed to post a tribute to Nipsey at least once a day, and right on time, Thursday morning Game woke up ready to express adulation for his friend. "Good morning bro, I love you," Game wrote. "You are the 1st thought in my head when I wake. It’s not forced, you’re just there. My dreams are different & my sleep overall has been rough. It’s an unsettled feeling that is sort of unexplainable." Game recalled how Nipsey was there for him when he was grieving those closest to him. "I lost my pops, you were there. You sent flowers to the crib & checked on me every other day until I told you things were getting a lil’ easier. You were always 'A better human' than me. I used ask you like 'Nip, why you just a better human than me' & you would say 'Naw Chuck, you do the same sh*t as me it’s just harder to notice from the inside.. but I see it.' But really, you were. I mean, I love, I care, I give, I help, I motivate, I...... do the best I can for as many people as possible but your love for people was different." Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images The rapper even said that Nipsey was one of the reasons why he put his beef with Meek Mill to rest. "I got mad at you when you called me about the @meekmill beef trying to squash it & I told you 'stop ridin for these n*ggas, this the West' !!! & you told me 'you gone do what you wanna do Chuck & I’m always with you but that’s the bro I’m telling you, I talked to Meek & he ready to let it go.' I didn’t listen, so the beef lingered & then Meek got locked up & I remember feeling really bad about that. Then he got outta jail & in the midst of everything he was going through that day, he called me & said he’d been thinking about me in jail & one of the 1st things he wanted to do when he got out was put our differences aside. So we did." "I called you, told you & I could hear the smile thru the phone before you saying 'Told You Chuck.... we can do so much more if we are unified in this sh*t.' Your heart bro, your heart. Always pure, always solid. Always my brother.... 'THE GREAT @NIPSEYHUSSLE' !!!! Feel his energy, I know you do. Look around, the person you see next to you does too!" View the full article
  13. In true Kardashian-Jenner fashion, Kourtney Kardashian went all out for her 40th birthday. The eldest Kardashian sister wanted to celebrate four decades on the planet by throwing a lavish party, and sister Kim was there to share bits of the get-together on Instagram. To begin, there was an enormous cake that was crafted to look like a bathtub, or possibly spa, with a nude Kourtney sitting on the edge, most likely a nod at her recent naked photo shoot. In the video clip, Kim gives viewers a close-up of the custom cake that shows off her sister's backside. "Take a picture of the butt!" a kid says in the background. Kim seems surprised that a child would say such a thing but, there's a naked cake woman on display in the middle of the room so it's to be expected. In other clips, Kourtney has provided bottles of Don Julio and each guest gets one to engrave it with whatever they want. There were also custom napkins with Keeping Up with the Kardashian phrases like "Kim, there are people dying," and "Most interesting to look at." Hey, it ain't trickin' if you got it. Momager Kris Jenner shared a few special words for her baby girl on her big day by writing, "Happy Birthday Kourtney!!! I can’t believe you are 40!! I love you more than you can ever imagine...you will always be my baby. I am so blessed beyond words to be your Mommy and have you by my side in this precious life...you are my heart and I am eternally grateful for all of the memories that we cherish. I love you. 14. The Green-Eyed Bandit has been teasing this project for what has seemed like forever, but fans can finally breathe easy now that Erick Sermon has dropped off Vernia. With three decades under his belt, Sermon takes hip hop heads back to the block with a refreshing record that highlights the art of freestyling, lyricism, and beats that reverberate the heart of inner-city streets. The features on Vernia are just a who's who of hip hop including artists like Raekwon, Too $hort, Xzibit, David Banner, No Malice, Keith Murray, Devin the Dude, Rockwilder, AZ, Ty Fyffe, and even Shaquille O'Neal who brings his Diesel rhymes on the collaboration, "Zion." The EPMD rapper created a piece of art that's a vibe from beginning to end with productions from Ty Fyffe, Boogeyman, Battlecat, Rockwilder, Apathy, and Kanzer. The rap legend lets listeners know exactly what he thinks about the current state of hip hop on "The Game" where he spits verses before asking, "Where did the game go?" Much like his previously released single "My Style" where he raps "Guess who fathered your style," Sermon is back with record deserving of attention while demanding respect. Tracklist 1. 15. He was just flying through the air while standing atop a Tesla during his performance at Coachella, and just days away from the festival's Week 2, Jaden Smith has dropped off a three-track EP titles ERYS IS COMING. The 20-year-old artist also recently delivered the visual for his single "SOHO," but that isn't a song listed o this latest project. It seems that the young rapper is preparing for a full-length release soon, but he's giving fans something to snack on until the meal is complete. It's evident that Jaden has inherited both his mother and his father's love for music, but the Smith family is as artistically eclectic as they come. While Will etched his name into hip hop history as the Fresh Prince and Big Willy, Jada was rocking with her band across the world. Jaden and Willow are carving their own paths, and on ERYS IS COMING, Jaden dabbles with sonic textures to create a sound that is unique to him, and him only. Tracklist 1. Pass 2. 16. Once you push play to watch Cam'ron's "Choppers," a single from his album The Program 2, grab the popcorn because the rapper delivers a mini-film, taking hip hop's "the art of story-telling" seriously. The Dipset legend is letting people know that his reputation isn't one to be messed with as he presents himself to the Don, brandishing weapons with his crew. The Lyk Billionaire-produced track also features verses by Disco Black and Vellz, rounding out a music video that runs for almost 11 minutes. Between cuts of crowded halls and rooms of men pointing firearms at the camera, there are scenes sprinkled in that feature a baby being kidnapped, people being held up at gunpoint, and riders cruising around NYC while holding up traffic to show off their skills. Another day in Harlem. “I wanted to shoot something cinematic that told a story to kick off The Program 2," Cam told the FADER. "The mini-movie is just the preview...Shout out Disco Black and Vellz." 17. Lil Dicky is putting his activism into action by using his name, voice, talents, and famous friends to raise awareness about saving the planet. In his seven-minute, eleven-seconds music video, Dicky uses (mostly) animation, music, and witty dialogue to convince viewers that taking care of the planet should be at the top priority of all of our lists. Earlier today, Dicky visited Ellen to preview his new global adventure video and share what motivated him to take on this task. “It’s all about saving the Earth. There’s an environmental crisis going on right now,” Dicky told Ellen. “We have 12 years to completely change the way we do so many things on Earth or the damage is irreversible.” As far as the features go, there are 30 artists who supported Dicky's cause including Ariana Grande (zebra), Justin Bieber (baboon), Wiz Khalifa (skunk), Miley Cyrus (elephant), Miguel (squirrel), Halsey (lion cub), Adam Levine (vultures), and Lil Jon (clam), among others. The visual will give you Madagascar vibes, and at the end, Dicky urges listeners to visit WeLoveTheEarth.org to find ways to improve the quality of our planet. 18. Veteran MC Tech N9ne has finally delivered his highly-anticipated 21-track album N9NA, just one week after releasing the visual to the project's title track. In just a few years N9ne will be celebrating three decades in the rap game, and since that time he has blessed fans with dozens of releases that have only solidified his inclusion as an emcee icon. On N9NA, the rapper is true to the essence of what makes him great, staying away from attempting to change with the times of a trap-heavy rap culture. While there isn't anything necessarily wrong with rappers evolving, there is something to be said about artists with longevity not conforming in an effort to stay relevant. N9NA is wide-ranging and innovative as N9ne features a handful of artists including JL, King Iso, Maez301, Futuristic, Krizz Kaiko, Navé Monjo, C-Mob, Jelly Roll, and Church Boii. The 47-year-old rapper recently spoke with Ambrosia For Heads and explained the meaning behind the N9NA project. “Well, I did Planet last time, you know? And, after I built my planet—and people love my planet—I wanted people to get to meet the maker, N9na. It was a reintroduction for all the new fans that are coming in [and] a reintroduction to that bussin’ [that] they love so much.” “[On this album I am] rapping like I ain’t rich, like I ain’t sold, not a near record platinum or near gold," he said. “On Planet, I was spitting. But this one is more personal; they wanted to hear me without a lot of features. So, me on the choruses, me [throughout]. They’ve been asking me for that for years, so I gave it to ’em.” Tracklist 1. 19. The criminal case involving Tekashi 6ix9ine has been revealing more about the individuals involved as time rolls on, and now documents have reportedly revealed the name of the shooter authorities believe is responsible for the incident that occurred at Barclays one year ago. In April 2018, Tekashi's crew and Casanova's crew go into a scuffle during Adrien Broner's fight at the venue, a brawl that ended in gunfire. Since that time, 6ix9ine has bee banned from Barclays, and while it was thought that the actual shooter would never be convicted, officials believe it is clear that their initial suspect an associate of 6ix9ine's named Fuguan "Fubanger" Lovick, is their man. Of the five individuals who have already pleaded guilty in the racketeering case 6ix9ine is involved in, there are another six who have yet to file a plea, and Lovick is one of the half dozen. According to documents obtained by Vibe, authorities claim that they have footage that shows Lovick at Barclays with a gun. "In addition to the surveillance video, which shows the defendant discharging a firearm inside the Barclays Center, cooperating witnesses will testify about the defendant’s role in Nine Trey, in particular as a shooter for the gang who almost always carried a firearm," the legal documents say. Last month Lovick attempted to have the charges against him dismissed claiming that the traffic stop which ended in the discovery of a firearm was illegal, but authorities have filed a motion defending their search and seizure. Lovick was first named and arrested for the Barclay's incident back in May 2018, but these new documents have detailed the evidence against him. Now that police have "cooperating witnesses," investigators believe that have enough for a conviction. View the full article
  20. Three days ago, news surfaced that America's Next Top Model winner Eva Marcille's ex and the father of her child, Kevin McCall, was arrested on charges of domestic violence. According to the report, the charges stem from an incident that occurred back in January of this year. Recently, Eva has shared her experiences with McCall, a person she called her child's "donor," by saying that she lives in fear of him, living in multiple homes to make sure he doesn't know exactly where she is. However, McCall took to Twitter to deny those allegations while asking for Eva to show proof of the alleged abuse."Show me the Eva Marcille documents Im(I’ll WAIT) its public knowledge right? Let’s start posting my records with these violent claims if you can do that Then You can mute me like R. Kelly But I’m starting to feel We both victims of a modern witchHunt (and N***az is the witches). It’s sad when she gotta keep using my name for her storyline, if I was the husband I would be like 'Real hoe of Atlanta' is you out your mind, or is you still obsessed with your child’s Father? Why is he in our story line so much ain’t I enuff headline for our relationship?” Neilson Barnard/Getty Images Following her ex's arrest, Eva shared more of her story, specifically naming McCall, on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. “Domestic violence is very, very real. I went through domestic violence. I finally found the courage to talk about it a couple of years ago, about what I went through with Kevin. He was definitely extremely violent. Physically abusive and I wasn’t the only person who has dealt with it. More recently, there was a young lady he dealt with, knocked all her fronts out. His child’s mother before me has dealt with domestic violence, his sister, his mother. And now obviously, the list goes on." "And there’s this new young lady that unfortunately was dating him," Eva continued. "And his inability to have what people call self-control of his frustration and his anger and he takes it out. And he’s not a small guy. He played D1 football. He’s a nice size guy and obviously beat this girl up.” When Gary With The Tea made a joke about the unnamed woman, Eva made it clear that it wasn't her but surely didn't appreciate jokes being made about domestic violence. “It’s not funny," she said. "Are you serious right now? But I do feel for the girl. I was just talking to Rickey about this and I was saying, you have men sitting in jail for a nickel bag of weed. However, this man has hit and beat multiple, multiple women and still finds himself out free in the street." She stated: I cant even believe I’m talking about it. Because it took me a lot of time to even get up the courage to talk about it, cuz it’s embarrassing. Coming from where I come from and being as astute and courageous as I am, you always feel like it could never be me. I dated Kevin and I got pregnant. We weren’t really in love, to be completely honest. And it wasn’t a relationship that lasted long enough for me to really even know him. And so it didn’t start for me until I was pregnant with Marley when the abuse started. I was pregnant with my child. And then, about a month after having Marley, it didn’t stop. It got worse. And it got worse with her. The final straw was when Marley was actually in my arms once. And I was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’ So I feel sorry for that girl. I feel bad for that girl. I feel bad for women that have to deal with it. It’s actually not a laughable matter. It’s something that makes you feel so little so you really don’t want to talk about it. But it really sucks and I hope that they keep his ass in jail as long as they can, period. It’s one of those things that you don’t want to talk about but it’s something that you have to talk about though. Because a lot of women that you sit next to, everyday at work, at church and family members. I have three brothers. I got a brother in the Marines and there is no way that they would have believed that I was even dealing with this. And so if there are any women and men out there—because women are as crazy as men and there are women who are violent against men also—but if there’s anyone dealing with domestic violence, the Domestic Violence hotline is 1800-799-7233. What I do know is that there is a sun on the other side of that dark day.” View the full article
  21. Just as fans dubbed Coachella "Beychella" last year following Beyoncé's HBCU-themed performance at the desert festival, Ariana Grande fans titled this year's concert "Aricella" after she brought out special guests Nicki Minaj and N'Sync (sans Justin Timberlake) during her performance. Both women now hold a special place in Coachella history as Beyoncé is the first black woman to headline the festival and Ariana is the youngest, but when news surfaced that the latter made twice as much as the former, the Beyhive came out to attack. According to Business Insider, Bey was paid approximately $4 million for her 2018, two-hour "Homecoming" show that sparked a Netflix documentary and a live album of the same name where she performed dozens of her hit songs. However, this year, Variety says that Ariana was paid $8 million for her show where she sang her chart-topping tracks from all five of her albums while closely following the same setlist for her "Sweetener World Tour." Vivien Killilea/Getty Images "Because Beyoncé came in last year and did her thing and kind of set the bar, basically Coachella becomes a competition, which is ridiculous," Ariana's production designer LeRoy Bennett told The Hollywood Reporter. "And artists who are strong should just come in and do their own thing and just be who they are. And that's pretty much what Ariana has done. There's not like there's a bunch of gags. She's being Ariana and singing and doing her thing." Beyoncé's fans have taken to social media to share their surprise—and displeasure—with the payout difference, especially with the news that there were hiccups during Ariana's performance. "Y’all can’t compare #ARICHELLA with #Beychella. Pitting Beyoncé performing with a 20+ year catalogue with Ariana’s 5-ish years of mainstream relevance isn’t really fair to either party," one person wrote. Another person said, "Ariana Grande is NOT a performer. She can sing; but she cannot entertain. Also, that entire set was a disaster. #BeyChella is the best thing to happen to Coachella & it will NEVER happen again, unless Beyoncé performs, again. Goodbye & goodnight." Even the L.A. Times wrote, "With routines from her current arena tour jammed together with special-for-Coachella numbers, this thing told no coherent story — a must for any pop extravaganza that plays in the wake of Beyoncé’s game-changing performance last year." Ariana fans came through for their queen, too. View the full article
  22. People love to pay homage to 1990s television by throwing themed parties in their honor. Just weeks ago Eric Bellinger celebrated his birthday by having a Martin-themed birthday party where he went all out with his costume, and today Basketball Wives of L.A. star Evelyn Lozada shared photos of herself dressed up as Peggy Bundy from the hit series Married...with Children for a "90's Sitcom Costume Party." For those that aren't familiar with the show, Married...with Children aired from 1987 to 1997 and centered around a dysfunctional family: Al Bundy was the womanzing shoe salesman father and husband who peaked in high school as a football star (in one game); Peggy Bundy, Al's wife, who loved leopard print, chain-smoking, degrading Al, and wearing spandex; Kelly Bundy, the oldest child and daughter who was given the "dumb blonde" title; and Bud Bundy, the son who failed miserably with women but was sex-focused at all times. Turning herself into Peggy, and doing a pretty good job at it, Lozada took to her Instagram to give followers a peek at her costume. This wasn't the only '90s party nod that Lozada has had as of late seeing as how she recently attended the 16th birthday party for Shaqir O'Neal, Shaq and Shaunie O'Neal's son. Blueface performed for the teen bash which boasted a "Fresh Prince of L.A." theme. She took her son with her and shared a clip on Instagram of the boy attempting to do his best Blueface impression. Of course, there were commenters online who didn't think that Blueface was an appropriate performer for a party for children, but that didn't stop anyone from enjoying the festivities. Unfortunately, it feels like his viral actions take away from the music including the songs released from artists under his wing. Jackboy has been one of the most notable members of Sniper Gang. He's been steadily releasing music and collaborating with Kodak as well as other artists in the game. Today, he returns with his new track, "Wow Wow Wow." Jackboy has returned with his latest effort, "Wow Wow Wow." The rapper's latest track is a hard-hitting banger that finds him flexing his syrupy vocals over bass-heavy production. 24. UnoTheActivist clearly has no plans on slowing down. After dropping off his track "Show Stopper" at the top of the week, he keeps his foot on the gas with the release of his latest track, "WAYDT." The rapper turns the auto-tune on full as he flexes his melodious delivery over a spacey and dreamy trap beat. The release of his two latest tracks seems to be a promising sign that he has a new project up his sleeves. Prior to dropping "Show Stopper" and "WAYDT," he teamed up with THOUXANBANFAUNI for the visual for their song "Choppa Down" which dropped earlier this month. Uno dropped off his last project, Limbus Pt. 2 in December but considering the rate at which he drops music, a new project could be coming imminently. 25. Thurz is gearing up for a hot year ahead. The rapper was on a bit of a hiatus but now, he's getting ready to release his forthcoming project, Party in My Living Room. Earlier this year, he released the song, "777-9311" and now, he's returned with his new track, "Long Live." With production from Jake One, Thurz delivers a soulful track that finds him reflecting on the relationships in his life with family and friends that helped mould him into the person he is today. "The track is about giving impactful people in my life their flowers while they can still smell them. An ode to all the family members and friends that have helped shaped my perspective as a man and human being," he said. "Their teachings along with life experiences create the necessity for 'realness' to be cherished forever. Jake One provided the perfect soundscape to reflect on all that has inspired me. Honor those you love while they're here." Quotable Lyrics Close to pure, they close the door Still keep my hands open for Pullin' up and pullin' out It's still necessary for war View the full article
