  3. After years of watching her daughter dominate the charts worldwide, Carol Maraj is getting her piece of the pie. Nicki Minaj's mother announced on Instagram earlier today that she is preparing to release new music. "I am so excited to share with you new music coming soon," Maraj wrote. "Swipe for a sneak peek of what’s to come. Sending you love and light today - Mama Carol #whatmakesyou #1luvmusic." She shared just a snippet of her song with fans and Mama Carol doesn't sound bad at all. It's a dance track where Maraj exercises her impressive vocal abilities in what sounds like a love song. "You love me like no one else / You just want me for yourself," Maraj sings. She didn't share when or if a full album is in the works, but it's expected that Maraj will have the full support of her daughter behind her. Minaj and her mother are very close, and in previous interviews, the rapper has spoken about her abusive father and how his addictions impacted her childhood. “I would go in my room and kneel down at the foot of my bed and pray that God would make me rich so I could take care of my mother," Minaj told Rolling Stone. 4. She's made audiences laugh in her films and television spots, but not many people know that Tiffany Haddish is also a leading lady in the R&B music video scene. Legendary crooner Johnny Gill recently released a visual to his single "Soul of a Woman" and called on Haddish to play his love interest. In a chat with VIBE, Gill explained the meaning behind his latest single. “What defines the soul of a woman to me is basically one word: strength,” he said. “There are so many powerful women that have done so much and we really ride on their shoulders. And when you’re looking at the #Metoo movement and you see what’s going on here and now their voices are starting to be heard.” “This song is a celebration for women and I think that it’s a reminder for men, how incredible women are,” he continued. “I’m praying to God that this would become an anthem for our women because of the strength that they have and the things that they have endured.” Haddish was asked what a man can do to touch her soul. "Now see that’s an inappropriate question right there because there are a lot of things that can happen," she said. "My soul can get touched in many ways, but to keep it PG-13, I would say buy me a little mini mansion, get me an acre of land—good land, too." "Soul of a Woman" is featured on Gill's eighth studio album, Game Changer II. View the full article
  5. The NBA Finals hype has dwindled, but the Golden State Warriors still face some uphill battles. Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson are recovering from Achilles and ACL injuries, respectively, leaving many to wonder what's in store for the team next season. Ayesha Curry recently visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk with the host about a variety of topics, one of which was how the team has been recovering from their NBA Finals loss to the Toronto Raptors. “The mood right now looks like sloping greens and nine irons and drivers," Ayesha said. "That's what happens during the off-season." Kimmel replied, "So, it's a golfing type mood?" The restauranteur said that no one is taking the loss too hard. "You know what? At this point, a lot of times, things are bigger than basketball. So at this point, [Steph] just wants his teammates to get healthy.” The basketball wife will also be hosting a new show titled Family Food Fight on ABC, a cooking competition where groups of three family members compete against other families for a $100K prize. While on Kimmel Ayesha also once again shared the story of her first date with Steph. The night included the two teens meeting up on Hollywood Blvd. and visiting a wax museum. Check it out below. 6. It's about to be the year of Diamond Princess now that Trina's sixth studio album The One is on its way. The Love & Hip Hop Miami rapper has been making boss moves since her "you don't know nann" days, but it's clear that experience has aided in evolving Trina as an artist. The Miami native recently delivered her Nicki Minaj-assisted single "BAPS," and she stopped by HOT 97 to chat with Nessa Diab about her latest track and forthcoming record. "BAPS means Bad Ass Pretty [Sagittarius]," Trina said. "It was really fun making the record with her. I asked her to get on my album when she was working on her album, the Queen album, down in Miami. That's kind of how the whole collaboration came out. She sent me this record and then voila." The rapper also talked about why she decided to name her album The One. "I feel like, this is my sixth album," she said. "I have have done so much and [much has] transpired, just like evolved. From five different albums and so much stuff that I've been through and I've put into all those albums, I get to the sixth album and this is like, I've given the last six years of my life to this project. That's a really long time, especially when I had hopes that it would come out three years ago. I kept recording. I kept adding new stuff, new songs, and it just kept growing and growing. Now, it's about to be summer. I'm dropping my album this year. I don't care what happens." Fans have also watched as Trina and her boyfriend Raymond Taylor's relationship has grown over the past few years. She told Nessa that this relationship is unlike any other she's had in the past and he accepts her for who she is. "The album was done before him, most of it," she said. "He's been in the studio with me during the process like the new stuff, not all the stuff that I've done, but he knows my life. He knows my truth. The good, the bad. He knows all the stories. He knows most of the dynamics so it's nothing to hide. It's truth." She also talked about her failed past relationships that went sour after the man did her dirty. "It is what it is," she said. "I'm not perfect. I haven't been in the best relationships. I've been hurt, went through the whole mill. He knows all that. I'm just a person...I don't name drop. I'm not gon' throw you under the bus. I'm not gon' drag you or dog you out. We're grown. We're done. It didn't work out. Keep it moving." Watch Trina drop some relationship advice and talk about her baby fever below. View the full article

  8. Master P already said that Zion Williamson will be bigger than Michael Jordan in New Orleans. The Duke University forward has officially been drafted to the New Orleans Pelicans as the number one pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. It's not that much of a shock since that's what's been rumored anyways. He's one of the most promising players to get drafted into the NBA this year and he's been on essentially everyone's radar since his high school days. Patrick Smith/Getty Images "I didn't think I'd be in the position," Zion said after the announcement. "My mom sacrificed a lot for me. I wouldn't be here without my mom. I just want to thank her. She put her dreams aside for mine." According to TMZ, his rookie contract is estimated to be worth roughly $45M over the course of four seasons. Clearly, he'll be making even more money with the endorsement deals that will surely be coming in. There was speculation in late May that he signed a deal with Nike after he was spotted training during a private workout in a pair of Nike Kyrie 4s. It's interesting considering his PG 2.5's essentially blowing up on his feet earlier this year. Sonny Vaccaro, who was behind Jordan's rookie deal with Nike, suggested that he would cough up $100M for Zion to ink a shoe contract. Nike nor Zion have confirmed that any sort of deal went down.
