  21. Summer Walker took home her first trophy this past weekend at the Soul Train Awards when she won this year's Best New Artist. The 23-year-old went up against Mahalia, Nicole Bus, YK Osiris, Pink Sweats and Lucky Daye. Despite Summer's social anxiety that she's been very open about in recent weeks (even canceling some tour dates because of it) she graced the stage to say a few words thanking those that helped her to this very special moment. Gabe Ginsberg/Getty Images Her boyfriend and sole producer of her debut album Over It, was so proud that he made a sentimental post about Summer to his Instagram showing love to her first trophy. "Congratulations The music speaks for u The anxiety makes u hard to read But to the ones that try to understand Would kno yo heart is an open book I wouldn’t want u to b no other way The spirits value you I value you So proud of you and your journey Best new ARTIST Queen Of R&B MyLove[sic]," he wrote. Summer shared via her Instagram that she was close to not attending the award show due to her anxiety. "BUT I pushed through my #socialanxiety today and I’m really glad I did ..cause the soul train experience is something any true music lover will never forget," she wrote. View the full article
  22. Teejayx6, known in select circles as TeejayTeejayTeejayTeejayTeejayTeeyjay, has been buzzing for a minute. The Detroit rapper has become a pivotal figure in the scambars subgenre, a genre that may or may not exist in actuality. In any case, Teejayx6 has amassed a loyal fanbase through hard work and dedication, a testament to the strength of his music grind. Most recently, he dropped off a new single called "Ambitions As A Swiper," taking to an iconic beat from the legendary 2Pac Shakur. A bold move, but one that reveals a respectable admiration for the greats. Off the bat, Teejayx6's charm is evident, with clever bars bordering on hilarity. "When that method don't work, I know that n***a gon' be sick," he spits. "Put his body in the water now he swimming like a sea fish!" Not only that, but the gems keep coming: "I fucked your bitch at a room and we did not kiss," as well as "he got a tall t-shirt on, he think it's 2006," and lastly, "saw a bum I'm bout to pull my phone out and record him, what the fuck!" Quotable Lyrics Put his body in the water now he swimming like a sea fish! + I fucked your bitch at a room and we did not kiss + He got a tall t-shirt on, he think it's 2006 + Saw a bum I'm bout to pull my phone out and record him, what the fuck! 23. Upon first glance, it appeared as though Dave East's debut studio album Survival was not performing that strongly on the charts in its first week out. Despite being a solid display of what East can consistently bring on the microphone, the rapper was being critiqued left and right after several sources claimed the project would generate less than three-thousand total units moved in its debut week. It turns out that, unlike the projections initially stated, the New York recording artist actually came through with some solid numbers that landed him a spot just outside the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. It was being reported that Survival would be left off the Billboard 200 entirely with under 3,000 units moved but it now turns out that that was misinformation at its highest form. Not only is East popping up just outside of the prestigious Top 10, he's doing so with a pretty impressive debut. According to the rapper's representatives, he actually managed to distribute 24K equal copies of the body of work, which is a much better number than initially proposed. The New Yorker's appeal can be compared to that of a Nipsey Hussle, where the general public may not catch on to his prowess right away but deep down, we all know that Dave can spit with the best of them. Is Survival one of your albums of the year? View the full article
  24. Kanye West's Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 still has not made its retail debut, despite rumors of a mid-November launch, but there are multiple colorways already in the stash. Among them, a classic "Black/Grey" colorway which is expected to resemble the mockup shown below. Similar to the Yeezy Boost 350 series, the Yeezy Boost 380 comes equipped with a sock-like Primeknit construction with a bulbous, full-length Boost cushioning unit sitting beneath the silhouette. Other noticeable details include an assortment of circular perforations on the mid panel, right around the same spot where the translucent streak sits on the Yeezy Boost 350 V2. In addition to the black/grey design, the Yeezy Boost 380 is also expected to launch in a white and grey "Alien" colorway, as well as a camo colorway and a blueish-purple "Mist" iteration. It is believed that the Yeezy Boost 380s will retail for $230, though we'll learn for sure in the very near future as the sneaker makes its retail debut. Stay tuned for more details of the newly unveiled colorway, as well as the other rumored Yeezy 380s. View the full article
  25. You have probably noticed that 50 Cent has been absent from your Instagram feeds for the past few days. It's hard not to when the man frequently posts Power-related memes or nasty disses. The lack of 50-spawned drama on our timelines has required some adjustment. Last Wednesday, we reported that 50's IG account had been deactivated and that is still the case today. One would suspect that his deactivation would be a result of him not abiding by the app's guidelines, but it turns out that he left of his own accord. While Fif is absent from the Gram, he has taken to Twitter as an outlet for his many opinions. He tweeted that he switched platforms because he's liking Twitter more these days. If you're missing his social media messes, you can follow him on there, cause I assure you it's the same old 50. He responded to a headline that reported his IG was deactivated because he trolled actress, Naturi Naughton's hairline with "rude memes." "LOL I'm cool with all these false report, if you don’t know why something happens you can’t just make some shit up smh I turned my own IG page off SUCKERS," he tweeted. He also claimed that he was "sticking up" for Naughton, rather than roasting his Power colleague. When a Twitter user advised him not to return to Instagram until he has some manners, 50 characteristically waved her off with a "Shut up bitch." View the full article
