  3. Oh Snap!!!!!! I thought i was the only person alive that remembered Stacy Lattisaw. I had such a crush on this girl and those videos bring back some nice memories. It is really to bad she left the business, she was a true talent. As much as I love Janet, Stacy was always a better singer. I have to see if Johnny has a site and ask him to talk her into doing another duet. Sir Droopy you are the man.
  4. Eddie has been razzed for year because of this song, but it's a fun little song. Now I don't think it's fair to say your reminded of Patrick Swayze's She's like the the wind, that was a good song and Patricks got a pretty good voice. Now had you said it reminded you of this I may have agreed.
  5. Ok L.O T..D. here you go I like this one myself, I have it on my cell for unknown and/or private calls.
  6. It's is a great cut I found it about a year ago. They are a hard band to place they hit #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for Best Dance Recording. but at the same time they have a jazz/acid jazz, world feel. I was confused to where to put them on the board, but the figured the board gods would let me know if my placement for this was correct. If it needs to be moved I am curious to see where they would be placed. To here some of there other music check out there myspace page:THE LATIN PROJECT You'll find a remix they did for Bebel Gilberto on the page as well, pretty nice.

  11. The Latin Project are the brainchild of Jez Colin and Matt Cooper, a pair of British DJs/remixers/producers who collaborate with various artists from the world of Latin music. Their 2003 track, Lei Lo Lai, which featured Freddie Crespo on vocals, went to #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for Best Dance Recording. From Wikipedia, From fiery percussion, keyboard solos, flavorful guitars, joyful trumpets to sub-bass and hard-as-nails beats, these ingredients create the structure for a myriad of styles that incorporate everything from nu-jazz to broken beat, downtempo, dub and ambient moods, all sifted through a Latin-inspired filter.Giant Step "Lei Lo Lai", is the first song in years with an ounce of soul to beat out the pack of trance anthems and clunky pop remixes usually vying for the dance chart top spot. 16. Alfred McCoy Tyner (born December 11, 1938) is a jazz pianist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, best known for his work with the John Coltrane Quartet. Tyner was born in Philadelphia as the oldest of three children. He was encouraged to study piano by his mother. He finally began studying the piano at age 13 and within two years, music had become the focal point in his life. His first main exposure came with Benny Golson being the first pianist in Golson's and Art Farmer's legendary Jazztet (1959). After departing the Jazztet, Tyner joined Coltrane's group in 1960. (Coltrane had known Tyner for a while, and featured one of the pianist's compositions, "The Believer", as early as 1958.) He appeared on the saxophonist's popular recording of "My Favorite Things" for Atlantic Records Tyner has recorded a number of highly influential albums in his own right. While in Coltrane's group, he recorded a series of relatively conservative albums (primarily in the piano trio format) for Impulse. After leaving Coltrane's group, he began a series of post-bop albums released on the Blue Note label, in the 1967–1970 time frame. Soon thereafter he moved to the Milestone label and recorded many influential albums, including Sahara (1972), Enlightenment (1973), and Fly With The Wind (1976), which featured flautist Hubert Laws and drummer Billy Cobham. From Wikipedia For those who may not have seen this video before, be prepaired to see one of the hottest upright perfomances I have ever seen. 17. "Party All the Time" was a single recorded by comic actor Eddie Murphy in 1985. It was a major success for Murphy. Murphy's single was written and produced by Rick James. 18. Chaka Khan (born Yvette Marie Stevens on March 23, 1953 in Great Lakes, Illinois) is an American singer best known for her 1984 cover of Prince's "I Feel For You", for her smash hit "I'm Every Woman" and as a member of the funk band Rufus, with whom she recorded the legendary soul record "Ain't Nobody". In her career she has earned many accolades, including eight Grammy awards. Though regarded an R&B singer, she has in fact explored numerous musical genres including funk, disco, jazz, ballads, hip hop, adult contemporary and pop standards. Her pop career was on shaky ground when she released 1984's I Feel For You, a platinum-seller launched by its title cut, a Grammy-winning, hip hop-based rendition of a fairly obscure Prince album track with a cameo appearance by Stevie Wonder on harmonica and rap by Melle Mel, which launched her recording career back into full gear.
  19. Formed in LA in 1964, the Whispers have certainly taken a “slow and steady” career course in which they have quietly become one of the most successful modern soul groups. They continued to be a mid level charting act throughout the 70s but gained momentum toward the end of the decade with tha album Headlights and memorable hits like “Olivia,” “All The Way” and a cover of Bread’s “Make It With You.” The 80s brought a string of monster soul chart success for the Whispers, though crossover success was more limited. The group appeared to lose steam in the second half of the decade, but a hot dance tune written by then-unknown Deele member Babyface brought the Whispers back, as the excellent “Rock Steady” shot to the top of Pop, Soul and Dance charts.

  21. After Little River Band, and before INXS, Men at Work were Australia's most successful international rock export, and are still the only Australian artists with No.1 singles and albums in both America and United Kingdom. The "Land Down Under" is Australia, where the group is from. The lyrics were written by lead singer Colin Hay, who told us: "The chorus is really about the selling of Australia in many ways, the over-development of the country. It was a song about the loss of spirit in that country. It's really about the plundering of the country by greedy people. It is ultimately about celebrating the country, but not in a nationalistic way and not in a flag-waving sense. It's really more than that." This song is often misinterpreted as a patriotic anthem. Says Colin: "It's ironic to me that so many people thought it was about a specific thing and that really wasn't the intention behind the song. If you listen to 'Born In The USA,' it's a similar song in that there's a lot of nuance missed because people like drinking beer and throwing their arms up in the air and feeling nationalistic. It's ultimately a song about celebration, but it's a matter of what you choose to celebrate about a country or a place. White people haven't been in Australia all that long, and it's truly an awesome place, but one of the most interesting and exciting things about the country is what was there before. The true heritage of a country often gets lost in the name of progress and development." Some lyric translation: Fried out Kombi - a broken-down van. The lyrics are often translated as "Combie," but the correct spelling is Kombi. It came from the VW Kombivan which was very popular in the '60s and early '70s, especially with surfers and hippies. Head full of Zombie - Zombie was a particularly strong batch of marijuana which was floating around Australia for a long time. People called it "Zombie Grass." Vegemite Sandwich - Vegemite is a fermented yeast spread that is pretty much a national institution in Australia. Some people love it and can't start the day without a piece of toast spread with Vegemite, and some go so far as to carry a small jar of it with them when they travel overseas. Some are indifferent to it, and others can't stand it. It kind of resembles smooth black tar, and is similar in taste to the English "Marmite," but Aussies will always tell you that Vegemite is far superior. 22. "Control" is the fourth single from Janet Jackson's third album Control. The song was written by Jackson, James Harris, and Terry Lewis and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Its arrangement, built upon complex rhythmic tracks, showcased state-of-the-art production. The spoken intro of Control was sampled in Kylie Minogue's song Too Much Of A Good Thing, off the Let's Get To It album. In 1988 the song won a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video, beating out her brother Michael, Whitney Houston and Jody Watley.Wikipedia Control Video Control lyrics - Janet Jackson lyrics Janet Jackson Music Videos Music Video Codes by VideoCure
