  1. "Rio" is a hit single from the album Rio by Duran Duran, and one of their most recognisable songs and music videos. "Rio" was released worldwide in November, 1982, then was reissued in the United States in March of 1983, and was a Top 20 hit on both sides of the Atlantic. "Girls on Film" was the third single from Duran Duran's first album, Duran Duran, and has become one of the band's signature songs. It was released on 13 July, 1981, and reached Number 5 in the UK Singles Chart on 25 July. It was the band's second hit single in Australia, peaking at #11. The song did not chart in the U.S. on its initial release, but it became popular and widely known there after receiving heavy airplay on MTV when the Duran Duran album was re-issued in 1983. "Union of the Snake" is the ninth single released by British New Wave band Duran Duran and the first single from their third album Seven and the Ragged Tiger. It was released on October 17, 1983 and would peak at #3 on the UK and US singles charts. "Hungry Like the Wolf" was Duran Duran's second Top 5 hit in the UK and was their breakout hit in the US. It was their fifth single, released off their 1982 album, Rio, and has become one of the band's signature songs. Its popularity was boosted by MTV which played the accompanying music video in heavy rotation.
  2. "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" is the first single from Whitney Houston's second studio album Whitney, released in May 1987. It was written by George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam of the band Boy Meets Girl, who had previously written the number-one hit "How Will I Know", also for Houston. The song was produced by Narada Michael Walden. The original arrangement of the song did not impress him, as he saw it as more of a country tune than a pop song, so he threw in faster beats and Caribbean percussion to create a dance track. 3. A song titled "Loungin'" appeared on LL Cool J's Mr. Smith album, but is completely different from this song, which was released as a single several months after the album came out. Besides the title and slight similarities in subject matter, the songs have nothing in common. Mr. Smith (1995), which went on to sell over 2 million copies. Its singles, "Doin' It" and "Loungin", were two of the biggest songs in 1996 and both songs' music videos were hugely successful on MTV.
  4. Dude, I can't believer your never heard thsi song. I hope you heard loungin' where LL used the bridge of the song. Just in case I added the video in the 90's fourm.
  5. Maureen Reillette "Rebbie" Jackson (born May 29, 1950 in Gary, Indiana) is an American singer, eldest member of the successful Jackson musical family and sister of pop icons Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. She is most famous for the 1984 hit, "Centipede". Rebbie began her music career as a background session singer for such acts as Lou Rawls and Chaka Khan. Her brother Michael helped Rebbie score a solo hit with his written and produced "Centipede", in 1984. The song reached #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart and helped her debut album (also titled Centipede) go gold. 6. Desiree Heslop (born 27 November 1961) is an English singer, who is using the stage name "Princess". In the late 1970s she worked with the group, Osibisa. The single "Say I'm Your Number One" has sold over one million copies worldwide.
  7. "Good Times" is a song by the band CHIC, recorded for their 1979 album Risqué. In August of that year, it became the band's second #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100. "Good Times" has become one of the most sampled pieces of music in history, most notably in rap and hip-hop music. The song is ranked #224 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. From Wikipedia Now I know that someone is going to say the song came out in '79 so it's should go in the 70's forum, here is my argument to that. Growing up here in NY I can tell you this song got a lot of air play in '80 if not the song itself samples, remixes and revamps. This is a definitive 80's song.
  8. I was able to find the video again, and a little better quality also so everyone enjoy while you can. No doubt Viacom will be going after any website that has there videos on them. The fight is ridiculous pretty much the same way the fight with napster was. I am old enought to remember before the web and ipods, getting a hot sone and recording it onto a cassette tape and sharing it. I'm sure that was breaking copyright laws also. These companies are just crazy. Anyway this is one of my favorite songs from back in the day, I even liked the LL Cool J's sampling of the song on loungin', but could some please explain that whole rolling and bouncing of the ground part of the video.

  14. For most people I know Bernard is considered a one hit wonder, but it seems the has a lot going on. Keyboardist Bernard Wright seemed like a coming fusion and urban star when he toured with Lenny White at 13 and played with Tom Browne in 1979. He got such strong response that he was signed to GRP in 1981. But the LP 'Nard stalled, though there was good reaction among R&B and fusion fans to the single "Just Chillin' Out." It was followed by Funky Beat for Arista and Mr. Wright for Manhattan/EMI. Wright also co-wrote and sang with La La on "We'll Keep Strivin." He has recorded with Cameo, Bobby Brown, Pieces of a Dream, and Charles Earland, among others. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide Here Bernard Wright - Who Do You Love Uploaded by capitainfunkk

  16. Many of us first heard this song on the Geico commercial, its a good song with two versions most I don't think have heard the original. The has a very interesting video I have seen comments like, "Wow! Amazing & smart video! Talk about feeling like a brick in the wall :)", "awesome video. the song is almost hypnotic", "How come this version sounds different than the one in the Geico commercial? I prefer that one." .

  19. These Videos are of Sheila E, Tito Puenta and Pete Escovedo. Now If your unfamiliar with Pete you can go hereorHere to learn more. Now you may ask, why would Puente and Escovedo be doing a concert with Sheila E. Simple first off Sheila is a very accomplished percussionist,(playing drums, timbales and congas) and second the E stands for Escovedo. How could Pete give a chance to play with and old friend and his daughter. I had this some years ago I have to see if I can dig it out, but for you latin jazz fans I do recommend at least viewing.

  21. We love his singing so much we often times forget that he is a very good piano player. Inspired by the playing of Earl Hines, Cole began his performing career in the mid 1930s while he was still a teenager, and adopted the name "Nat Cole". His older brother, Eddie Coles, a bassist, soon joined Nat's band and they first recorded in 1936 under Eddie's name. They were also regular performers at clubs. In fact, Nat got his nickname "King" performing at one jazz club, a nickname presumably reinforced by the otherwise-unrelated nursery rhyme about Old King Cole. He was also a pianist in a national touring revival of ragtime and Broadway theatre legend, Eubie Blake's revue, "Shuffle Along". When it suddenly failed in Long Beach, California, Cole decided to remain there. From Wikipedia Nat King Cole Uploaded by trombone-usa
  22. When Davis removes the mute from his trumpet almost nine minutes in and lets his clear, singing tone sail out into the audience, you have to wonder what all the fuss about his supposedly "selling out" was about. Miles Davis's final Columbia recording includes his straightforward ballad interpretations of Cyndy Lauper's "Time After Time" and the Michael Jackson-associated "Human Nature," two songs he would play in most of his concerts for the remainder of his life. 24. Airto Moreira was born in Itaiopolis, Brazil, and raised in Curitiba and São Paulo. Showing an extraordinary talent for music at a young age, he became a professional musician at age 13, and his first landmark recording was Quarteto Novo with Hermeto Pascoal in 1967. Shortly after, he followed his wife Flora Purim to the United States. After moving to the USA, Airto began playing regularly with jazz musicians in New York, including the bassist Walter Booker. Through Booker, Airto began playing with Joe Zawinul, who in turn introduced him to Miles Davis. At this time Miles was experimenting with electronic instruments and rock and funk rhythms, a form which would soon come to be called Jazz fusion. Airto was to participate in several of the most important projects of this emerging musical form. Airto stayed with Miles for about two years, touring and participating in the creation of the seminal fusion recording Bitches Brew. Shortly after leaving Miles, Airto joined Joe Zawinul's new project, Weather Report and played percussion on their first album. His next project was yet another fusion landmark, playing with fellow Miles alumnus Chick Corea's new band Return to Forever. He played drums on Return to Forever's first two albums, their self titled debut album and Light as a Feather. These albums are regarded today as classics of the fusion genre. He was also a contributor to many of Mickey Hart's world music / percussion albums in Rykodisc's The World collection, including The Apocalypse Now Sessions, Dafos, At the Edge, and Planet Drum.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airto_Moreira]From Wikipedia Airto performs a solo piece percussion piece with vocal Airto
