  1. This is funny considering I've been getting my AOL with unlimited minutes for $14.95 the whole time. Let's just say I haven't been totally honest with them. But, as an exchange, I've been testing the Beta versions so, IMO, it evens out. psychofun
  2. I wouldn't mind seeing them. The new singer is pretty good and not that different from Sebastian Bach. I'm sure they would play a lot of the old stuff. The new album Thickskin has been getting good reviews. The 3/10 show in LA is just over the hill from me and I know it has to be closer to some of you. Although there have been a couple lineup changes, they still rock hard. For those that can, go check them out. psychofun
  3. NEW YORK (Billboard) - While work continues on Guns N' Roses' endlessly delayed album "Chinese Democracy," Geffen Records has set a March 23 release date for "Greatest Hits," compiling 14 of the hard rock act's best-known tracks. The album boasts such favorites as "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Patience," "Paradise City" and a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" from the "Interview With a Vampire" soundtrack. This is the third archival Guns N' Roses release since last fall, when Geffen issued DVDs of the home videos "Welcome to the Videos" and the two-volume "Use Your Illusion." However, according to sources, the band did not give its consent for "Greatest Hits" to move forward and may pursue legal action to block its release. The group, which revolves around sole original member Axl Rose, will return to the live stage May 30 at the Rock in Rio-Lisbon festival in Lisbon, Portugal. It will be GNR's first live appearance since a disastrous 2002 comeback tour, which was canceled with 13 dates remaining. As for "Chinese Democracy," it is unknown when the album will be released. Bassist Tommy Stinson told Billboard.com last year that finishing touches were being applied to the set before it would be sent off for mixing. Source
  4. DETROIT - A civil lawsuit accusing shock rocker Marilyn Manson of sexual assault has been dismissed after the two sides reached a settlement, according to an attorney for the plaintiff. Security guard Joshua Keasler was working on the stage during a July 2001 performance in Detroit when Manson allegedly approached him, wrapped his legs around the guard's neck and gyrated against him while wearing only a leather thong and panty hose. Keasler had sued Manson in U.S. District Court in Detroit for sexual assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Both sides agreed not to release terms of the settlement, Keasler's attorney John D. Nickola said in a statement. The lawsuit was dismissed Jan. 28. "I can now go on with my life and try to close this unhappy chapter," Keasler said. A message seeking comment was left Tuesday evening for the attorney who represented Manson when he pleaded no contest in 2002 to disorderly conduct and assault and battery in the same incident. Oakland County prosecutors originally charged Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, with sexual conduct and assault and battery. District Judge Gerald McNally threw out the sex charge. In the criminal proceedings, Manson, 35, was ordered to pay $4,000 in fines and costs. Manson is known for his outrageous and controversial stage performances. He has broken wine bottles on his chest during performances and ripped a Bible. Band members take their first names from pop culture icons and their surnames from famous serial killers. Source
  5. Maybe he can help her out with her new hit single: "Even More Complicated" psychofun
  6. I am not ready for that step just yet but I will keep it in mind. I don't even have the music penned and am not sure if I will. And to actually sing these songs is another story. They were written in pain and anger and just imagining to sing that is a bit scary. I think I would have to feel that way again and I am not in that frame of mind anymore. Perhaps someone else can write the music and we can share the credit. Thanks for the support though. I will keep my mind open for possibilities. psychofun
  7. lol...In all honesty, audio wasn't written for these. They're just lyrics. The audio mentioned above is for different music of a different caliber. It was also created within the past 5 years. I will post the links as soon as I get some authorization. psychofun
  8. SEATTLE - Former grunge rocker Krist Novoselic (news) has changed his mind and decided not to run for lieutenant governor but says he wants to remain active in politics. Novoselic said he would keep working with Music for America to boost voter participation among young people and continue his efforts for election reform but concluded, "the whole thing about running a campaign and being a public servant isn't the way to do it." Novoselic was the bass player and one of the founders of Nirvana, which broke up after the suicide of co-founder Kurt Cobain in 1994. Novoselic had some later musical projects but is now retired from performing and lives in southwest Washington state. He initially supported Howard Dean (news - web sites) for president but will be a delegate for John Kerry (news - web sites) at the Wahkiakum County Democratic Party convention. In November, Novoselic said he might run against Lt. Gov. Brad Owen, also a Democrat, who is considered likely to seek a third four-year term this year. "I found out firsthand that it's really considered bad form to run against an incumbent of your own party," Novoselic said Thursday. At the same time, he said he found nothing wrong with intra-party battles. "I think every incumbent should be challenged," he said. "Competition serves democracy. Look at what it did to our presidential caucuses." Source
  9. BOMBAY, India - Pop diva and Buddhist Tina Turner (news) will play an Indian goddess in a new Merchant-Ivory film, a newspaper report said Tuesday. Turner, who had a successful farewell tour four years ago, said she had enjoyed being able to fill stadiums, "but now I'm ready to move onto another kind of performance," she told The Times of India newspaper. Famous for power-packed performances in high heels and leather miniskirts, Turner will star in the new Merchant-Ivory film, "The Goddess," the newspaper reported. "I think Ismail (Merchant) chose me because of my shakti (strength) within," the 64-year-old Turner said. "I'm special in that I've had a long run and I'm still here." Merchant, a producer known for making movies with director James Ivory (news), said Turner had spent two weeks in India and had been practicing classical music with Zakir Hussain, India's maestro of the tabla, a small set of drums. "She'll have to sing in Latin and Sanskrit for the film," he said. Turner, who acted with Mel Gibson (news) in "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome," said she's looking forward to the new role, "not as Mad Max, but as a goddess — that's real power and real love." She also insisted she'd be able to keep up the new generation of pop singers, if she wanted. "I can stand with any of them on stage and hold my own," said Turner. "I am still in the playground." 10. NEW YORK - Advertising writers in Florida were planning to pitch hemorrhoid-relief products with a commercial featuring the Johnny Cash (news) classic "Ring of Fire," but Cash's family said there's no way they will let it happen. We would never allow the song to be demeaned like that," Cash's daughter, Rosanne, told the Tennessean of Nashville, Tenn. The hit was written by Cash's wife, June Carter Cash (news), and Merle Kilgore, who now is Hank Williams (news) Jr.'s manager. Both Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash died in 2003. TV producer Sula Miller of Big Grin Productions in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said she thought of the idea when she heard the song on the radio while struggling with the uncomfortable condition. Kilgore said at first he thought the idea was funny, and that he often joked about hemorrhoids onstage whenever he'd introduce Ring of Fire. But Cash's family is not laughing. "He (Merle) started talking about this moronic tie-in without talking to any of us," she told the Tennessean. "The song is about the transformative power of love and that's what it has always meant to me and that's what it will always mean to the Cash children." Kilgore said it was not his intention to upset the family. Source
  11. Here is a story from Yahoo: The best things in life may not be free; but the free stuff ain't bad, especially when it comes to software. If you can't afford to fork out a fistful of dollars for your essential programs, or simply don't want to pay fealty to the Microsoft monarchy, you have options--and I'm not just talking about Linux (news - web sites). Browsers, word processors, e-mail clients, and a lot more are available for nothing. Of course, everyone's taste is a little different. Here are my picks for the best free software you can find. 12. UNMASTERED PAST (MY OUCH) My lack of time you will not reveal Only your unleashed anger I'll feel It's not my fault your childhood was damned Why let the cycle repeat again? Unwilling to face the strife in lost years The easy conduit is upon solemn ears 'The proper discipline' conceals your blame Retrify the truth so we can be shamed Meaningless pain Yelling insane Outburst severe Understanding not here Could I see a sign? Help liberate my mind. Will I ever be free of this cage in my brain? Or shall I continue to bear your stain? You think your grasp goes beyond my own gates But I will not foresee that as a true fate The ties once needed are no longer bound A new life exists where harmony's found No fear of retribution-- It's me who's owed Just tears of realization-- My fire's done flowed psychofun
  13. Paroxysm (Shake Your Soul) The time has come for me to flee Escape from your pitiful tyranny Resistance is none, you’re not in my way Your life is spared another day You cannot harm me, you will not try Any attempts and you will die You cannot stop me, I’ll go where I will You are to my advantage, says the death drill Pre-chorus: No one can help you, there’s no one to call The more that you try is the more that you’ll fall Chorus: Shake your soul –Lose all control Shake your soul –Never a whole Shake your soul –Shatter the goal Shake your soul –Death’s welcomed toll So you chose the easy or in your case the hard Now I know my future will never be barred You won’t need to help me prepare your crypt ‘Cause I’ll be seeing you on your last trip It’s time that you go, I smile at the thought Six feet under with worms you rot Existence is gone, you no longer show No more saying that I don’t know p.ch../ch. Solo(s) No last chance, no farewell See you on your train to hell No balancing on the razor’s rim Feel the fate of Paroxysm Chorus to fade… psychofun
  14. Metal Express Another day of the same old shit My patience burns with what they see fit Compromise can’t even begin This tale will live to their very end They refuse to see that we need freedom now But the way they work, we’ll never know how They believe that heritage governs the best We’ll tell them what they can do with the rest chorus: You think you know, you think you’ve taught The only thing you’ve spread is what we’re not We will be free, we’ll be obsessed Eternally, on the metal express I find no reason to be withheld Yet they continue to show their tyrannical guild Trapped in their jewel, my independence fades The hand they lend has razor blades They’ve got their grip tight; locked down fast The portal of escape must not be passed Chained to the boat, assigned to the oars They use us as if we were their whores chorus: psychofun
  15. For starters, if this is in the wrong forum, I apologize...the Poet's Corner: Lyrics forum appears to be just for real bands (you know what I mean). I do have some actual music that was created, but I need to get some permissions in order to make it available. For those that know a chapter in my childhood, these songs will make sense to you. For those that don't, these songs will make sense of my childhood. This set of music was written about 12-16 years ago. Not many have seen it. I do not think they are necessarily professionally written, but they do convey emotion and I believe they do it strongly. For whatever reason, I have a tendency to do the (parentheses) thing with songs I write. I guess I'm never content with just a single word or phrase. I did write several other songs in high school, but they did not survive the journey of time. They were bitter, but I believe a love song may have surfaced at the time also. I regret losing those and not permanently recording them for safekeeping. Your comments are welcome. I do not expect these songs to entice your best of feelings. I have 1 song that I have plucked at for probably the past 5 years. Perhaps I will finish it someday. Perhaps there will be something else. As best as I can wish it...enjoy. psychofun

  17. Because the actors (Hugh Grant, George Michael, Paul Rubens, Eddie Murphy) and the singers (Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, James Brown, Courtney Love) all have a tendency to get themselves in trouble and "religion" appears to be the accepted choice for the road to redemption. This is not the exact case for all of the above mentioned, but it explains why some would choose this path. Now what Brittney is feeling guilty about I have no idea. You do not need religion to be a better person. Kickboxing, maybe. ;) psychofun
  18. Divulging a secret, this metalhead totally digs Tori. This is an awesome collection of her finest works. I really had no idea what I was getting into when I first listened to her. But I will never regret what I discovered. Tori's songscapes are beyond words. They are about emotion, and then some. IF you haven't checked her out, give her a shot. Especially this album to hear how varied and wonderful she can be. psychofun
