Happy Birthday Ludwig Von Beethoven

for the most part, i loved living in bonn, the birthplace of beethoven (although i spoke like a little kid and couldn't master the language, no way). anyway the house he was born in was just about 5 minutes away and which, to a history freak like me, was very very cool, it had all his old stuff.

about this time every year, bonn (and cologne, 20 miles north) both fill up w/beethoven loving tourists. it gets very crowded this weekend (the only downside to living there....almost impossible to do your normal thing or go anywhere really during beethoven's b-day weekend). so we sat on the rhein and drank and smoked there (one is allowed to drink in public in germany from age 16 on...the Polizei always ignored the pot-smoking or at most, smiled and waved).

Beethoven was probably our first rock star... What's amazing is that he was deaf the last decade of his life--pretty amazing stuff he wrote in spite of it

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
