SUNRAY MUSIC FESTIVAL

:strumma: :smokin: The 1st annual Sun Ray Music Festival - Athens, GA – June 22nd, 2004 – 3 days of music and camping will be held the weekend of August 27th-29th in Carlton, Georgia – 20 miles outside of Athens.

The festival line-up includes: Robert Walters’ 20th Congress, Cee-Lo Green of the Goodie Mob, Moonshine Still, Grease Factor, Bernie Worrell and the Woo Warriors, Day By The River, George Porter Jr. of The Funky Meters, Perpetual Groove, Skydog featuring Dr. Dan, Larry Keel Experience, Randall Bramblett, and Acoustic Syndicate. More bands are being added daily.

The Sun Ray Music Festival will be host to Villageville – the festival’s metropolis of food, merchandise and weekend long fun. Villageville will include: a Dance Hall – which will be home to local & national DJ acts who will spin all hours of the night; an Auditorium – where local & regional bands will showcase their music; a Cinema – stop by and can catch a movie such as: Pulp Fiction & The Wall ; an Arcade for the video game lover and a Dining Hall – where festival-goers can relax and cool off and grab a bite to eat. A ferris wheel, laser plex (laser tag) and wine tent will be the highlights of Villageville.

Adult festival tickets will start at $65 for the three days. Children under 12 are free. One day tickets will be available – prices TBD. Camping is included in the 3 day ticket price. Check the website for a complete list festivals do’s & don’t’s.

The following charities will benefit directly from ticket sales & attendance at the Sun Ray Music Festival - The Northeast Georgia Foodbank, The Athens Area Humane Society & The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter. Check the website for more details and see how you can help.

Looks like a great festival and it's in our neck of the woods too! Dlove, I would appreciate any additional information you could give me about this festival. Welcome to beatking and I hope to see you posting more in the future.

There will also be a Saturday morning drum clinic with Dr. Arvin Scott. More bands and activities to be announced.

It really seems that this music benefit festival is going to rock out such amazing talent all around. Thanks so much for including Gabriel Young in such a worthwhile cause. I also saw that MoonShine Still another up and coming big time band will also be making an appearence. This is exciting. Thanks for supporting the local animal shelters.

Sun Ray Music Festival pops off tomorrow... the tent is already in the car, school and work as been taken care of, and now it's time to have some good fun :) I'll let you guys know how it turns out :D

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
