Green Day Attack Bush With Album Artwork

Recommended Posts

cdgreendayamericanidiot.jpgGreen Day will continue their protest against George Bush with a blatant statement on the cover of their next album.

Not only does the title 'American Idiot' say what they want to say, the artwork on the cover depicts a hand clutching a bleeding heart shaped hand grenade.

Green Day contributed to the Rock Against Bush compilation last year and also performed on the Rock Against Bush tour.

In 2002 Billie Joe Armstrong posted at the Green Day website "For those of you who are opposed to the war in Iraq, I want to set up a petition on greenday.net to send to George W. Bush strongly urging him to rethink his plans for a military invasion. This petition isn't only for people who live in America but people all over the world. So, even if you know someone at work or at school who doesn't even know what Green Day is, tell them to log on to greenday.net, type in their name, and where they're from. I want to get as many names as possible."

Their opposition to Bush goes back before he was elected in 2000 when Tre Cool publicly called him "the devil and totally evil".

Green Day's 'American Idiot' will be released on September 21.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
