Christian Rock

It's probably appropriate to start a thread like this on Easter. In my channel surfing, I've occassionally come across some new band, only to find out later that it was a Christian Rock band. Since I don't pay much attention to lyrics (as a Pisces I'm more into the instrumental sound, except Rap, whose lyrics grab by attention lol), I've often found the tunes to be catchy. I'm told that a lot of records are sold to this segmented audience, and they have their own video channels, record companies and distribution centers.

Anyone know of any Christian Bands worth noting? Or, are their any pop songs with a religious bent, that should be posted here? Gospel music? Let us know...

I'll start:

Turn, Turn, Turn (There is a Season) - The Byrds (1965)

my BF was at Riotstock (woodstock) in 1998 or 99 and saw Creed playing (he said they sucked). personally, religion is the last thing from my mind when i'm rocking out, but hey.

(i actually was converted by alabama 3 but that's a whole 'nother thang).

One word for ya: "Impellitteri". Ok, two words: Chris Impellitteri.

Impellitteri may be considered a Christian metal band, depending more on the vocalist than anything else.

Fronted at various times by Rob Rock (Impellitteri, Driver, Angelica, Warriro, Axel Rudi Pell, etc.), and by Graham Bonnet (Rainbow), Impellitteri has been recording since 1987.

Guitaris Chris Impellitteri has been favorably compared to Yngwie Malmsteen (although in my opinion, Chris writes *MUCH* better songs than Yngwie).

With Rob Rock on vocals, the band "Impellitteri" is very much a Christian metal band. With Graham Bonnet on vocals, the band is more of a 'Rainbow on Speed' band. There is a definite difference between the two.

Check out the following CD's (if you can find them):

"Stand In Line" with Graham Bonnet on vocals

"Answer To The Master" with Rob Rock on vocals

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
