    New Megadeth CD Leaked

How 'bout I post a link to the forum post on another site that points to the hosted files. That should be ok, eh? The post is near the bottom of this page: http://www.metal-rules.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4464&start=30 Tic3
  4. Jag Panzer: This American power metal band has been kicking ass since the early 1980's. With no less than seven releases to date, this Colorado-based quintet features Harry Conklin on vocals, Mark Briody and Chris Broderick on guitars, John Tetley on bass, and Rikard Stjernquist on drums. Jag Panzer is a very down-to-earth band who enjoy meeting and interacting with their fans. Guitarist Mark Briody is active on several metal-related forums. Mark was kind enough to provide links to two new songs from their upcoming CD titled "Casting The Stones". The songs are: Battered & Bruised and Legion Immortal There are links to other great songs in the Audo section of the Jag Panzer website. Check out Black from "The Fourth Judgement" (one of my favorites), The Moors from "The Age Of Mastery" and King At A Price from "Thane to the Throne". By the way, "Thane" is a concept album based on Shakespeare's MacBeth. Tic3
  5. Laments poor Dave (on the Megadeth message board): "Droogies! Some dirtbag has posted the entire record. It is now leaked, and my dream is ending..." Poor Dave. Anyway, it's out there and it is good. Someone on another message board has kindly provided links. If this ain't good, please tell me and I'll remove the link from this post. http://www.metal-rules.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4464&start=30 Enjoy! Tic3

    Question

Hi all. Do I need to enable anything or change a setting to enable me to send PM's to multiple users? In the help file, it says to enter a person's name, press enter and then type in the next user's name. I asked another user and he said the same, but when I press enter, it sends the message instead of going to the next line to enter the next address (see attached screen shot) I've even tried entering the names in notepad like this: name1 name2 name3 and then copy and paste into the "to" field, but it only takes one line. Any ideas? Thanks! Tic3
  8. Here's my vid list. When you get back up and running let me know if you need anything. I'll try to post my CD list later. Tic3 Vids.txt

  10. Tales - Uriah Heep. Tales isn't really an album, it's a song. But it's trippy. Ain't Uriah Heep just a great band? Tic3

    New Megadeth Song

Lord_of_the_Dense is absolutely right. Megadeth only compares to Metallica 'cause Dave played guitar for them in the beginning. Megadeth has some really great music. In my opinion, the music can be divided into three or four distict periods. The first couple cd's - Peace Sells (But Who's Buyin'), Killing Is My Business (and Business Is Good), and So Far So Good So What - are raw and angry and from the heart. The next couple cd's - Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction, and Youthanasia - are much more technical and melodic. The next couple cd's - Cryptic Writings and Risk - are experimental and lean a bit towards the commercial and modern. On the last couple cd's - Capitol Punishment and The World Needs A Hero - it seems like Dave has kind of given up. With the exception of just a couple songs, the music is pretty bland and uninspired. The new song does lean a bit towards the earlier stuff, so if you liked the song, you might check out Peace Sells or So Far So Good. I think Youthanasia and Rust in Peace are Megadeth's greatest work, and are my favorites. Tic3

    Montrose

Hell yes! Montrose rocked! Their debut album was released around 1973 or so and featured Ronnie Montrose on guitar, Sammy Hagar on vocals, Bill Church on bass, and Denny Carmassi on drums. The debut included the songs Rock Candy, Bad Motor Scooter, Make It Last, and several other great songs. Their second album, Paper Money, was released in 1974. It wasn't as well received by fans, but still had some decent songs on it. Ronnie Montrose started out as a session player for several bands, including Van Morrison (on the Tupelo Honey and St. Dominic's Preview albums), Boz Scaggs, and the Edgar Winter Group. He was offered the lead guitar spot for Mott The Hoople in 1973, but chose to start up his own band instead. I think Ronnie is still around playing and releasing albums, but has pretty much faded into obscurity. After the breakup of Montrose, Sammy Hagar went on to form his own band with many line-up changes. He sang for Van Halen for a few years before going back to a solo career. I have both Montrose releases on CD. Tic3

    New Megadeth Song

While the final mix has not been decided, Dave Mustaine has announced that the new CD should be available for release sometime in September of this year. To give fans a little taste of what's to come, a song from the new CD is available at Megadeth.com. The song is titled "Kick The Chair"Click the link below, give a listen, and post your comments. http://www.megadeth.com/ktc Enjoy! Tic3
  14. > I know....I was just trying to make conversation and get everyone's opinion on the whole sub-category thing. If you know who likes what, it's easier to make recommendations based on that info. Tic3
  15. This might belong is a separate topic, but speaking of having "pop" and "extreme" and "screamers" as subcategories of metal, what is your favorite or preferred subcategory? Do you even try to separate bands into subcagetories? I used think there were only two subcategories - metal I like, and metal I don't like. I still think that for the most part, but in searching for new stuff to listen to I sometimes find it helpful to check out bands from specific subcategories. I tend to like power metal or traditional metal the most, although sometimes I might check out progressive metal and death metal bands. How 'bout you? What kinda metal do you like best? Tic3

  17. Angel - Anyone remember this group? Greg Guiffria, Punky Meadows, Frank DiMino, Felix Robinson and Barry Brant. They recorded several albums in the early to mid 70's, including Helluva Band, White Hot, and Sinful. They put together some great music, and a few of their songs (including Tower, Rock And Rollers, and the Winter Song) were in frequent rotation on many radio stations. They also recorded a title track for the movie Foxes. Anyway, I was doing some random searches and browsing various file lists, when much to my suprise I found a couple Cassablanca Records promo videos from them (songs including Tower, You're Not Fooling Me, Magic Touch, and Feelin Right). Apparently recorded from an old VHS tape, but the quality wasn't terrible. Anyway, it was a rare find and great addition to my video collection. Isn't P2P great? Tic3
  18. > Thanks, Lord! I...borrowed...it from a website somewhere a few years back. Never really used it until now. Tic3
  19. I'm not sure how it happens, but it does seem to be true that a majority of the better bands seem to come from Eastern Europe (Germany, Sweden, Finland, etc.). Maybe it's that the music scene over there encourages a more intimate band/fan relationship. The countries are much smaller, so there is more interaction between the bands and the fans. It's interesting that if you look behind the scenes in some of these bands, many of the band members play in more than one band. Of course all of the above can have a negative effect, too: many of the bands start sounding too similar. Tic3

    Christian Rock

One word for ya: "Impellitteri". Ok, two words: Chris Impellitteri. Impellitteri may be considered a Christian metal band, depending more on the vocalist than anything else. Fronted at various times by Rob Rock (Impellitteri, Driver, Angelica, Warriro, Axel Rudi Pell, etc.), and by Graham Bonnet (Rainbow), Impellitteri has been recording since 1987. Guitaris Chris Impellitteri has been favorably compared to Yngwie Malmsteen (although in my opinion, Chris writes *MUCH* better songs than Yngwie). With Rob Rock on vocals, the band "Impellitteri" is very much a Christian metal band. With Graham Bonnet on vocals, the band is more of a 'Rainbow on Speed' band. There is a definite difference between the two. Check out the following CD's (if you can find them): "Stand In Line" with Graham Bonnet on vocals "Answer To The Master" with Rob Rock on vocals Tic3
  21. Let me start this thread by saying that I'm really not a fan of Death Metal. Although there are a number of bands out there with some totally kick ass music, I generally can't stand the vocals. But a few posts back, BeatFactory posted a plug for In Flames, so I thought I'd try to expand on that a bit. As I said, I generally can't stand the vocals, but there are always exceptions. Not too long ago (a year or so), I was listening to the online radio station that I usually listen to, and they played "Not Built To Last" by Dark Tranquillity. I liked it! The vocals were well suited to the music...and the music was very good. After hearing the song, I did a bit of reading and searching. Many people said Dark Tranquillity were Swedish Melodic Death Metal. If the song wasn't good enough for me to investigate more, then the Swedish Melodic Death Metal name had me hooked. I mean, how could you not be a little bit curious, right? Anyway, I picked up the "Haven" CD. It took a few listens for me to really get into it (have I mentioned that I hate death metal vocals?). But once I gave the CD a few spins, I have to say I thought it really kicked major ass. "Swedish Melodic Death Metal" is a very apt description. The music was definitely melodic and pleasing to the ears. I picked up a couple more of their CDs including "Projector" and "The Gallery". I can't say I cared much for either of those two, although "Projector" had a few good songs. More recently, I got a copy of their latest release "Damage Done", which I like nearly as much as "Haven". Further investigation and reading led me to In Flames, another "Swedish Melodic Death Metal" band. My first listen to In Flames was "The Jester Race". By now, I was a bit more accustomed to the death vocals, and was able to listen past the vocals and really hear the music. I can't say the CD was an instant hit with me, but after a few spins, I liked it well enough to check out a few of their other CD's, including "Colony", "Clayman", and "Whoracle", each of which I pretty much liked. "Reroute To Remain" is one of their newer releases, and is definitely worth a listen. If you'd like to check out either of these bands, here are a few recommendations" From Dark Tranquillity: Pick up the "Haven" CD, or at least check out the songs "Not Built To Last", "The Wonders At Your Feet", and "Feast of Burden". From In Flames: Pick up "Pinball Map", "Jester Race", "Ordinary Story" (Get the video!), "Cloud Connected", and "Whoracle" ******************** If you like the above, check out another death metal band called "Eternal Tears of Sorrow". While ETOS may not be as melodic ad Dark Tranquillity or In Flames, they are quite good. Recommended songs include "Fall of Man", "Heart of Wilderness", "The Last One For Life", "Autumn's Grief", and "Black Tears". Enjoy! Tic3
  22. If you could put together a CD of 15 your favorite songs - songs that you like so well, that you could listen to this one CD over and over again if you were stranded on an island - what songs would your CD have. There's a catch: the CD has to be metal, and you can only have one song from any given artist. Here's mine (songs listed in alphabetical order, but only 'cause that's how they are on my hard drive): 01. Amorphis - Divinity 02. Angel Dust - Addicted to Serenity 03. Armored Saint - Creepy Feelings (from the Nod To The Old School CD) 04. Brainstorm - The Leading 05. Dokken - Mr. Scary 06. Iced Earth - Dracula 07. Jag Panzer - Black 08. Judas Priest - Green Manalishi (the live version from Unleashed in the East) 09. Megadeth - Lucretia 10. Metallica - Fade To Black 11. Pagan's Mind - A New Beginning 12. Riot - Twist of Fate 13. Steel Prophet - One Way Out 14. Tad Morose - When The Spirit Rules The World 15. Twelfth Gate - Waiting In Shadows Tic3 (ok...this is only a cheap ply to see what kinda stuff everyone else likes, and to maybe get some ideas on new stuff to look for, so don't be shy)

    Metal Music Videos

I tend to like the concert-type videos (as long as they are synchronized well), or videos that show the band actually playing their instruments. For example: Iced Earth's Melancholy (Holy Martyr) Brainstorm's Highs Without The Lows I've never much cared for the "story" type videos where the band tries to act. Most of those types of videos are cheesy. For example: Almost all of Dio's videos (unfortunate, because Dio kicks ass) I have to admit, though....I collect all types. 542 so far! Tic3
