Community Upset Over Topless Coffee Shop

(TV5) Clio--Topless waitresses and bottomless cups of coffee, that's the recipe Java Coffee Shop owner Jason Pries hopes will bring him success. But it's leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of fellow business owners.

Most people say that they were supportive of Pries' new venture, that is, until they learned the waitresses were going to be topless.

"I was telling people about it. I was promoting his business, I would say go down there, go down there," said Jennifer Walter.

"I don't really care don't' care if it's a financial problem or not, the whole thing is we do not want it in this town, we don't need what it brings in to this town," said Debbie Taylor, a local florist.

Kevin Forman built his coin shop and hobby store here five years ago. He chose Clio because of its family atmosphere, never figuring he'd have to worry about things like topless waitresses down the street. Now he's considering moving his business.

City officials plan to meet Wednesday morning to discuss the situation.http://www.wnem.com/global/story.asp?s=1732410&ClientType=Printable

Lets face it.... sex/nakedness sells just about anything. It's a cheap marketing idea for the dull witted who cant think of anything more interesting.

What's worse... people buy it..... the human race are becoming a bunch of drooling morons.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
