Discovered in the 80s by producer Joe Boyd (Pink Floyd, Clapton, Nick Drake...) at a Bulgarian village wedding party, Ivo Papasov was already a legend at home. The Gypsy King of Wedding music, he'd been thrown into a Communist jail for playing non-approved (‘Gypsy') music, and had to change his name, from the more Turkish ‘Ibrahim'. Boyd signed him to Hannibal and brought him to the West. Now Papasov is on the road again. After winning a BBC Award for World Music in 2006, he brings his high-energy band to Cargo. "clear a space for the nearest available floor and be prepared to get up and dance" (BBC Music)

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
