PACK UP AND DANCE PRESENTS: BAND OF FLYS "BLACK THIGHS"

1. Black Thighs (original)

After many years attending DiY parties Paul Wong and Andy Elston put together this modern slice of click trax meets bumpin house groove.

Originally on DiY Discs label.

Now seeing the light of day on , expect a tightly produced male vocal led excursion from tight house beats to melodius electronica.

Paul's tight production nails down a sweet selection of modern synth vibes over a raunchy backbeat.

Set to light floors both modern and traditional.

2. Black Thighs (Digs & Claude Foncept Blood Sugar Mix)

DiY's Digs, after many years working with partner Woosh, producing the seminal Rumpfunk.

He teams up with up n coming frenchman Claude Foncept for this sizzling groover. After previous remix duties on Pack Up & Dance 002.

Here the pair develop their sound to take on a wild pitch esque vibe, working the electronic melodies of the original.

Rolling them on and on and on, Keeping the househeads on board and the flourescent brigade in turn.

This is a guaranteed suck them in and spit them out floor filler.

Road tested on the uk and and european dance floors by JourneyMan Dj and Digs himself.

This a relentless modern groove.

3. Journeyman Dj's Bondi Mix of Band Of Flys-Black Thighs

"The Journey Man is back.”

On the road since 'Shelleys' raised arms on the dancefloors around the world, he's returned with a remix that began life one weekend in the basements of the moscow underground"

4. Soul Minority Remix

Next up, Soul Minority turns Band Of Flys-Black Thighs into a wicked remix.

A dance floor Killer not to be missed!

Support from Funk D Void, Andy Cato (Groove Armada), Mike Monday, Leigh Morgan, Shur-I-Kan, Master H, Digs (DIY), Laurent Garnier and many more!

Cause I know - Original is my pick, nice use of intro breaks of Caetano Veloso’s Queixa. As well as the use of Tim Maia’s ‘You Don’t Know What I Know’ vox.

The Groovers sound is the result of a lot of late nights , forged and crafted with utter devotion to creating a unique sound.

All our influences were bought into the studio and from the tension between a love and knowledge of various musical styles and modes, of temperament and personality we found that it clicked.

The result of this collaboration between Finn Campbell-Notman and Steve Ferrand is ten track collection of songs from slow to mid to house tempos. Each time we worked on a track or song we asked ourselves ‘is this a Groovers track’ and the only criteria in deciding if it was was ‘does it feel like one or not’

This feel that we were searching for is: that bittersweet, syncopated and soulful one that we both love regardless of genre.

Our influences range from deep deep dancefloor house, early downtempo, latin soul, boogie, southern funk, and shimmering techno.

The choice of re-mixers on our first release from the LP is a collection of people who are both exceptional

producers, people who we have worked with previously and indeed very close friends.

Sunshine Jones also records as Dubtribe Soundsystem, on imperial dub and latterly Treehousemusique.

His unique soulful take on all things house is legendary.

Aqua Bassino is one of the finest producers of his generation from heartbreaking melodic suites to spiritual uplifting house.

Daniel Kyo has become one of the main artists in the nowadays deep house scene

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
