Sam Ball - Yello EP

1. Yello

2. White Faces

Club Class’ home-grown prodigy kicks-off 2008 with his finest release to date. ‘Yello / White Faces’ shows how Sam Ball’s ear for a killer groove is now complemented by a developing understanding of musical depth and mood. Brilliantly crafted, both tracks demand an emotional and physical response and will keep the dancefloor busting.

1. ‘Yello’– Soft chords and swirly, starry synths, yet there’s not too much time for sentimentality, as Sam drops his trademark heavy, punchy beats and bass.

2.‘White Faces’ – Sensational rolling tech-house heightened by an absorbing Donna Summer-esque riff. Thoroughly engrossing.

Sam Ball is a young guy with an honest and raw passion for house music. A Club Class regular, Sam earned his first set at the legendary Maidstone club at just 18 years old by meeting promoter Serge’s dare to get his tongue pierced. Since then, Sam has gone on to warm up for the likes of Nic Fanciulli and Danny Howells, and has established his own popular club night, Undercurrent. His previous releases on Urbantorque have received praise from a plethora of big names including Hernan Cattaneo, Sander Kleinenberg and John Aquaviva.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
