  1. \\UT100 \\Relation: 'Your Tiny Mind' 1. Your Tiny Mind (Original Single) 2. Lifelike Remix 3. Laserdisco Remix 4. The Diogenes Club Remix 5. Eat More Cake Remix 6. Tone Float Remix “An Underworld-meets-David Byrne soundclash” bbc.co.uk “Like a deadpan Talk Talk with a chord sequences by Johnny Marr” Ben Watt (Everything But The Girl, Buzzin' Fly) August 3rd 2009 marks the release of pristine electro refrain Your Tiny Mind, the debut single proper from Southend duo Andrew Leary and Oliver Keech aka Relation. Following a few underground 12”s which won fans in the likes of Laurent Garnier and the BBC, Your Tiny Mind marks Relation’s bid to take over the world at large, appealing to fans of dance, electro/synth pop, quality songwriting and indie alike. Your Tiny Mind combines elements of classic 80s (and 90s) electro pop with a crisp, modern production sensibility and a white island, sun kissed glow. Remixes come courtesy of Lifelike who takes the clean, bright sound of the original at a starting point for a Balearic and dreamy interpretation. Lazerdisco achieve the feat of combining 90s breakbeat, LFO, a bit of dubstep and the subtle anthemic quality of the original. Also present and correct is a reggae version from the Diogenes and Eat More Cake’s version, recorded with a live band. OUT NOW ON ALL YOUR FAVOURITE DOWNLOAD STORES! 2. \\UT100 \\Relation: 'Your Tiny Mind' - Remixes 1. Lifelike Remix 2. Laserdisco Remix 3. Tone Float Remix ‘Irresistibly sing-a-long’ Ben Watt (Everything But The Girl / Buzzin’ Fly Records) ‘Simply magic, brilliant, emotional and great, it should be a hit!’ Sebastien Leger (Mistakes Music) ‘Very retro, perfect for a chilled set’ Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) Urban Torque’s 100th release epitomises the label’s tenacious dedication to artist development, seeing the long-awaited release of ‘Your Tiny Mind’ by the sublimely sing-a-long electro-pop duo, Relation. The label has been diligently working with the band for a number of years, and their forthcoming album, ‘Fear of Night’, is testament to the UT philosophy to see a job worth doing through to the end. It lights the road ahead as the first of a number of full artist albums that Urban Torque will release from artists it has been nurturing, all varying in genre but linked by an emphasis on emotive melody and song-writing. ‘Your Tiny Mind’ is wonderfully understated pop for the electronic generation. It has the groove, edge and emotion to enthral a dancefloor, while at the same time, with its uplifting synths combining with beautifully melancholic vocals, the song carries an enigmatic pathos that leaves an unforgettable impression. Powerfully irresistible. In his review in US music magazine URB, DJ and musician Ben Watt (formerly of Everything But The Girl) described ‘Your Tiny Mind’ as: “A gorgeous song that comes on like a deadpan Talk Talk versus a chord sequence by Johnny Marr; irresistibly sing-a-long, shot through with pathos and an off-ramp floor-killer to boot.” \\1.Your Tiny Mind (Lifelike Remix) French producer, Lifelike, best known for ‘Discopolis’ (Vulture/Defected), his huge hit with Kris Menace, has injected his trademark uplifting ‘80s-inspired synths and given the entrancing original extra bite for the dancefloor. As vivid and vibrant a remix as you are ever likely to hear. \\2.Your Tiny Mind (Laserdisco Remix) Lazerdisco achieves the feat of combining 90s breakbeat, LFO, a bit of dubstep and the subtle anthemic quality of the original. \\3.Your Tiny Mind (Tone Float Remix) Italian techno duo Tone Float have rendered a deeply hypnotic and dramatically punchy version, darkening the light of the original with insidious craft. Relation are Essex boys, Andy Leary and Oliver Keech. Their poignant lyrics, melancholic undertones and deep techno groove have brought comparisons to New Order, Underworld and the Killers. Their previous single ‘Superenlightened’ was the BBC website’s Dance Single of the Week and was supported by big-name DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed and James Holden. Relation have also co-written and featured on ‘Solution’ with Superbass (Paul Harris and Jay P) released on Toolroom Records, which has been played several times by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show. Relation’s debut album ‘Fear Of Night’ will be out later in the year. Some Reactions: Hernan Cattaneo - “hey there 100! congratulations you ve done so well after all this years I’m proud to be one of those 100! this should be a big summer hit tone float mix for me” Nick Warren - “tone float mix is superb” Funk d’Void - “yeah this one hits all the right buttons, if there's any justice in the world this should go all the way..” Matthias Vogt - “relation nr. one in my april charts! :), congratz! can`t wait for the upcoming 900 releases! lifelike remix is pure bliss - hyperpop. i need some champagne right now!” Duncan Forbes (Spooky) - “Infectious as hell - Lifelike mix straight out of the 80's - loving it like a warm bath” Mark Lowry (shindig) - “refreshingly different.....love it!!!!” OUT NOW ON: BEATPORT *Direct link to release: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content...ny_Mind_Remixes Info: Relation Myspace Tone Float Myspace Lifelike Myspace Laserdisco Myspace UrbanTorque Myspace UrbanTorque Facebook UrbanTorque Twitter UrbanTorque You Tube Check the release video by clicking
  3. 1. ‘Too Many Of You’ 2. ‘Logan’ Seattle’s Pezzner is the new darling of deep house. If you needed any more proof of his worth, the ‘Logan EP’ is corroborating evidence. Masterfully produced with refreshing tenderness and feeling, the EP brings together bobbing grooves, hypnotic percussion and strong melodies to bedazzling effect. Guilty as charged, Your Honour. 1. ‘Too Many Of You’ – Left-field deep house that forms a barrage of mesmeric sound occasionally giving way to light lofty melody. 2. ‘Logan’ – Sultry and hypnotic percussive house that teases and seduces with snap openings of reprieve. Dave Pezzner cut his chops as Jacob London with partner Bob Hansen, creating eccentric house and break-beat rhythms. In 2008 Pezzner took to his own studio to begin work on his first solo output composing songs that are more serious, with an abstract artistic sensibility. It wasn’t long before Freerange Records scooped up his first two EPs, ‘Other Lover’ and the epic three-part masterpiece ‘Almost Here’, and OM Records signed the follow-up ‘Jouets Fantastiques’. Pezzner also has an arsenal of heavyweight remixes lined-up for artists such as Josh Wink, Mark Farina, and Mike Monday. Now that Pezzner’s stepped out on his own, he’s definitely got a lot to say.
Feedback: Laurent Garnier - “loove Pezzner, this is another great one from him ....Will play of course” Hernan Cattaneo - “really like logan” Nick Warren - “logan is very cool” Jody Wisternoff - “J'adore !!!” Anthony Pappa - “Both tracks are excellent. 4. Neil Quigley: ‘Air Raid’ 1. ‘Air Raid’ 2. ‘Air Raid’ (Matthias Vogt Remix) 3. ‘Air Raid’ (Pezzner Remix) Having been tipped by Hernan Cattaneo for his production skills, Neil Quigley returns with his first solo outing. ‘Air Raid’ is an assured piece of resolute deep house that builds intently and effectively, assiduously composed by the DJ Mag-dubbed ‘prince of Bedrock’. Equally regal remixes come from Motorcitysoul’s Matthias Vogt and deep house’s new kid on the block, Pezzner. 1. ‘Air Raid’ – Mellow chords and pads carry a sense of anticipation that builds to a crescendo of screeching sirens. Tightly produced atmospheric house music produced by a DJ who knows how to subtly work a crowd. 2. ‘Air Raid’ (Matthias Vogt Remix) – A more minimal and bassey remix that tickles, coaxes and allures persuasively. 3. ‘Air Raid’ (Pezzner Remix) – Bubbling, popping techy percussion accompany starry melodies that stack sublimely on this delightfully deep rework. A firm favourite amongst Renaissance regulars, Neil Quigley has garnered a loyal core of fans through his DJ sets. Since turning his hand to production, he has had successful collaborations with Nick Muir (‘Feedback From The City) and Milton Jackson (Tijuana), with whom he also turned out a popular remix of Francois DuBois’ ‘I Try’. Reactions: Hernan Cattaneo - “original for me, very good!” Laurent Garnier - “love the original mix, will hammer this a lot , it's truely lovely” Nick Warren - “good work by the neilster, original mix all the way for me” Desyn Masiello - “have been support the pezzner mix since wmc.... quite a bomba ... great release thanks guys” Satoshi Tomiie - “Cool package! Particles Tone Float express a commitment to the dying art of live studio recording and electronic experimentation, and with cunning, guile and craft they demonstrate on this their debut EP how good these virtues can sound. Held within a tight techno structure their sonic trials and soft melodies bear an infectious intensity and an acute appreciation for the dancefloor. ‘Tone Float’ is a techno-licious EP boasting wicked beats, intrigue and subtle craft. \\1. Tone Float (Original Mix) A track to herald the dawn. It sounds momentous as it groans, gasps and cracks to splintered beats. \\2. Tone Float (Club Mix) The fascinating original is whipped into shape for the dancefloor as an intense techno groove is laid down. \\3. Mill Craftily constructed robotic techno tempered by mellow. \\4. Particles Flutters of bleep, languorous yawns of synth and sparring beats combine for scintillating effect. 7. \\Scope: 'Studio Sessions Volume Two' \\1. Move On (Original Mix) \\2. Move On (Hipp-e Remix) \\3. Time \\4. 6.15 In The Morning \\5. Munich \\6. Descanso This, the second special extended EP from Beatport Music Awards nominee Scope, sees the prodigious producer shift his gaze more towards the end of the night with some climactic house and techno and even a down-tempo chiller for good measure. Moreover, the first three tracks introduce a new avenue for the creative talents of Ric McClelland (Scope) with the development of a second alias, Trent Walker, allowing Ric to indulge more fully in his love of classic Detroit techno – good for Ric, even better for us the listeners! \\1. Move On (Original Mix) A musical masterstroke, as retrospective as it is contemporary, and brilliant from both perspectives. ‘Move On’ is vibrant end-of-the-night string-laden acid-tinged techno of the purest vintage. \\2. Move On (Hipp-e Remix) Hipp-e reworks this into deep ice-cool techno, lethal and evasive. \\3. Time A sensational combination of tense strings and nostalgic melody to create gripping techno that sounds like the perfect end to a perfect night. \\4. 6.15 In The Morning Bounds along with a cheerful, easy, effortless gait while carrying a pensive, mystical vibe. \\5. Munich Muy tranquilo. An evocative trumpet-led sunset/sunrise moment with Café del Mar written all over it. \\6. Descanso Should be recommended by all good doctors to alleviate stress. ‘Descanso’ is classic house with a palm-swaying groove and an invigorating melody, full of warmth, space and good feeling. It’ll leave even the most sullen listener grinning from ear-to-ear. 8. Misfitz: 'Want Me' \\1. Want Me (Original Mix) \\2. Want Me (Diogenes Club Remix) \\3. Want Me (Stephen Lopkin Version) \\4. Want Me (Laserdisco Bleep Me Remix) Urban Torque celebrates its one-hundredth release this summer and Misfitz’s ‘Want Me’ will certainly be blasted out proudly at the party. Whether it’s the original, resounding with feel-good buzz, or the decadently funky ‘80s inspired Diogenes Club remix, it’s sure to fill the floor pronto. Proper poppy party music at its delightful best! Stephen Lopkin and Laserdisco provide versions for different moods, expertly delivering the epic and the techy respectively. \\1. Want Me (Original Mix) Slip and slide synths, buzzin’ bass and poppy vocal combine to make dazzling house tarted up in its finest glad rags. \\2. Want Me (Diogenes Club Remix) Another masterstroke of ‘80s nostalgia and up-to-the-minute production from the Diogenes Club. A captivating bass hook a la New Order, warm feel-good synths, and increasing measures of funk, make this infectiously unforgettable and endearing \\3. Want Me (Stephen Lopkin Version) A moody, petulant interpretation; Lopkin’s moved the party into a dark forest and added an eerie complexity \\4. Want Me (Laserdisco Bleep Me Remix) Laserdisco’s mix cooly shoots, bleeps and judders, sauntering towards deep disco-tech perfection. Misfitz is a collaboration between Hipp-e and C-pen (Chris Penny). Since making his first paycheck at the age of 16 as a DJ, Hipp-E has developed into a true innovator on the electronic music scene. His partnership with Halo as H-Foundation catapulted him into the limelight and produced the acclaimed ‘Environments’ album. Now working as a solo artist once again, Hipp-e travels the globe spreading his sound from the US to Asia and beyond while continuing to push musical boundaries with his ability to blend jackin beats into techno horns and even soulful moments – a true legend. 9. Behrouz 'Time Travel' \\1. Time Travel (Original Mix) \\2. Time Travel (DJ Yellow’s tenminutesbeforetheend remix) \\3. Time Travel (Scope and Leigh Morgan remix) \\4. Time Travel (Martin H Remix) Urban Torque are proud to add Yoshitoshi favourite Behrouz to their increasingly impressive roster. ‘Time Travel,’ his first release on the label, is an intricately worked mosaic of emotive melody, softly melancholic and deeply tense. Complemented by three fine remixes from DJ Yellow, Scope and Leigh Morgan, and Martin H, this is an emphatic inauguration to the UT stable for Behrouz. \\1. Time Travel (Original Mix) Mapped with imperial confidence and meticulous precision, this is a dramatic and emotion-filled voyage into the deep. \\2. Time Travel (DJ Yellow’s tenminutesbeforetheend remix) A bit more apt for darkened rooms this one. Dreamy melodies loop, mesmeric and beguiling \\3. Time Travel (Scope and Leigh Morgan remix) Label manager Leigh Morgan teams up with the irrepressible Scope. Together they convert the epic-ness of the original into unadulterated dancefloor drive, levelling it out into a brilliantly uncomplicated tear-jerker that certainly packs an emotive punch. \\4. 10. Satoshi Fumi: ‘Before Science EP’ 1. ‘Ptoremaic’ 2. ‘Synkirow’ 3. ‘LightSystem’ Satoshi Fumi drew in plaudits from all quarters with his brand of mellifluous cosmic house on the ‘Treasure’ and ‘P.O.D.’ EPs. His impressive debut releases will take some beating, but on the ‘Before Science’ EP he takes off sublimely from where he left us with yet more mesmeric space-age melodious house music. 1. ‘Ptoremaic’ – Deep, dreamy, architecturally structured cosmic house to massage the soul. 2. ‘Synkirow’ – Deep tech house studded with starry melodies and splintering bleeps that builds into a full-on aural assault of galactic proportions. 3. ‘LightSystem’ – A proper party track that slides and groves superbly, light-hearted, but still teeming with lush melody. Japan’s Satoshi Fumi burst onto the house scene in 2007 with the ‘Treasure EP’ on Urban Torque, supported by the likes of Pete Tong, Ben Watt and Funk D’Void. Since then, he’s had releases on various labels including Bedrock and Yoshitoshi. 11. Office Gossip: ‘Tundra EP’ 1. ‘Direction’ 2. ‘Tundra’ 3. ‘Tundra (Scope remix)’ Whether in the tundra, on a beach or in a dingy city nightclub, the ‘Tundra EP’ contains three fearsome cuts with more dancefloor punch than you could shake a stick at. ‘Direction’ lurches at you aggressively but exposes a soft underbelly of complex depth, ‘Tundra’ sucks you in with its delightful uplifting keys, and Scope’s beautifully recrafted remix is both subtle and compelling. Yet more proof that Scope and Office Gossip are at the forefront of the next generation of deep house producers. 1. ‘Direction’ – A forthright and belligerent dancefloor challenge on the surface, but laced with alluring light melodies that carry depth and ingenuity. 2. ‘Tundra’ – Good old fashioned house sounding at its best as old skool keys and dreamy soundscape are married flawlessly for maximum uplift. 3. ‘Tundra (Scope remix)’ – Scope masterfully moulds ‘Tundra’ into a subtle, enticing house track whilst losing none of the original’s vintage magic. Through his Office Gossip project, Nathan Boddy has fast been garnering a reputation as one of the best of a new generation of deep house producers. A number of releases on Winding Road Records, the label that Nathan co-runs with John Buckby, have demanded attention, and 2007’s ‘Carbon Copy EP’ attracted an impressive set of reactions from the likes of Tom Middleton, Atjazz, Spirit Catcher, Vincenzo and Laurent Garnier. 12. Jay Leblone: We're All On a Journey 1. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Original Mix) 2. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Jarzeenos Feel Good Mix) 3. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Scope Remix) 4. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Master-H Detroit Vision Mix) 5. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Stephen Lopkin Remix) There are many ways to invoke dance. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ demonstrates this veritably with an entrancing original track by Jay Leblone and four divergent but equally effective remixes by Jay himself, Scope, Master-H and Stephen Lopkin, all employing differing approaches to limb stimulation. Following on suitably from his previous release, ‘Alma’, Jay’s drawn trumps again with an exemplary piece of deep, transfixing house music. 1. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Original Mix) – A hypnotically sultry melange of trickling melodies and jazzy fragments, this is a track that epitomises deep house and enchants listeners into dancing. 2. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Jarzeenos Feel Good Mix) – Does what it says on the tin. Warm, light, sensual; it tickles you into moving those feet. 3. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Scope Remix) – Scope bolsters the bass, lifts the strings, and commandingly works it out for the floor. Peak-time revelry. 4. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Master-H Detroit Vision Mix) – Master-H wields pummelling percussion and forceful synths to coerce dance and then intrigues with some left-field jazziness. 5. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ (Stephen Lopkin Remix) – Stephen Lopkin puts a jazz-house spin on proceedings, playing with the jazzy fragments whilst maintaining a backdrop of deep smoothness. A remix teeming with soul. Jay Leblone hails from Brazil, lives in Spain, and used to live in Scotland. Under the guise of Aqua Bassino he recorded two albums and an array of 12" EP's for Laurent Garnier's F Communications label, showcasing his jazzier side. ‘We’re All On A Journey’ follows his previous release on Urban Torque, ‘Alma’, which included a remix from Francois DuBois. 13. CR-78: ‘EP-01’ 1. ‘2+1=24’ 2. ‘Answerphone’ 3. ‘Hissy not splashy’ CR-78 describe their sound as ‘Essextronica’ - it’s gadgety 80s-inspired whacked out techno wizardry; quirky but very accessible. Andy Leary, one half of electronic songsters Relation, and fellow Essex musician, Graham Boosey (Little Penguin), plugged together their musical gizmos and set about creating with great aplomb the three triumphantly fun and engrossing tracks featured on ‘EP-01’. It’s Detroit with a cheeky glint of Essex. 1. ‘2+1=24’ – Sublime hard-to-define brilliance that sounds like a party played back in slow motion. 2. ‘Answerphone’ – Chiming with simple catchy melodies and electronic harmonies insightfully blended with fresh ingenuity and a sense of fun. 3. ‘Hissy not splashy’ – Drenched in glorious cascading 80s synths, this cheeky effervescent number is unashamedly inane and delightfully feel-good. CR-78 is a new project of Andy Leary (Relation) and Graham Boosey (Little Penguin). Andy Leary has already had production success with Relation with ‘Superenlightened’ (Urban Torque), supported by Sasha and Digweed amongst others, and co-writing ‘Solution’ with Superbass, which was released as a single on Toolroom Records. Relation will soon be releasing an album, ‘Fear Of Night,’ on Urban Torque. 14. Florian Kruse: ‘The High Tide Is In’ 1. ‘The High Tide Is In’ (Original Mix) 2. ‘The High Tide Is In’ (Dub Mix) 3. ‘The High Tide Is In’ (Turn of the Tide Mix) Florian Kruse has turned out a blissfully Balearic classic house groove with a modern Germanic twist. ‘The High Tide Is In’ is a tantalising mix of keys and beats that will have hands in the air and minds reminiscing on the good old days. With a trippy dub and a rhythm-heavy remix there’s plenty of dancefloor damage to be wreaked by this potent package. 1. ‘The High Tide Is In’ (Original Mix) – Reminiscent of classic house at its most heady. This is a gently scintillating excursion down memory lane that still maintains a fresh and relevant edge for today’s dancefloor. 2. ‘The High Tide Is In’ (Dub Mix) – A heavier, more trippy mix that flirts with a deep acid sound. 3. ‘The High Tide Is In’ (Turn of the Tide Mix) – A wily and intriguing percussive take that bobs coolly and steadily carrying all comers along with it. Florian Kruse was raised in Schleswig Holstein, North Germany, and is now a mainstay in the Hamburg club scene. His modern electronica sound has been turning heads for a while with successful previous releases ‘Love Hurts’ and ‘In My Scope’ on OM Records, and support shown by Nick Warren and Knee Deep. Reactions: Hernan Cattaneo - “really good, everything I hear from him is good” Laurent Garnier - “original mix is realy lovely will play that for sure, many thanks as ever for the great music” Mark Knight - “love it going to put on my radio show 100%” Nick Warren - “reminds me of last rhythm , and nothing wrong in that :)” Chloe Harris - “love the dub - great smooth groove and the sounds are sweet. big chuggy but warm up or builder tune. perfect. turn of tide is awesome. its deep and trippy and very hypnotic. quality” OUT NOW ON: BEATPORT *Direct link to release: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content...high_tide_is_in Info: Florian Kruse Myspace UrbanTorque Website UrbanTorque Myspace Urbantorque Recordings Facebook * New! 15. Stephen Lopkin : Frantic EP 1. ‘Monkey Tennis’ 2. ‘Frantic’ 3. ‘Ailsa Craig’ The ‘Frantic EP’ boasts three fantastically off-kilter tracks by promising new producer Stephen Lopkin. Stephen first came to our attention via an inventive demo CD in the post (do you remember those?). A few years later and with an album’s worth of refined innovative and eccentric productions we’re excited about Stephen’s first release. The musical maverick shows his versatility taking in the deep, chaotic and melancholic with equal panache. 1. ‘Monkey Tennis’ – You could buy this for the name alone, but fortunately the track matches the genius of its title. It’s an almost inanely feel-good and decadently deep jesting jaunt full of pleasure. 2. ‘Frantic’ – Abrasive, jilted, bleepy techno that clashes and rasps at a brilliantly deranged pace. 3. ‘Ailsa Craig’ – An electronic lament, tautly melancholic and sombre. Stephen Lopkin has previously remixed Justin Chodzko’s ‘Delta Sun’ and Corrugated Tunnel’s ‘2nd Thoughts’ both on Urbantorque. The ‘Frantic EP’ is his first solo release. Reactions: Laurent Garnier - “Frantic is the "acid" track for me, looove this” DJ.
