Stevie Winwood & Eric Clapton Celebrate Reunion At Crossroads Festival

Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, John Mayer and John McLaughlin were just some of the rock gods that appeared at Eric Clapton's Crossroads benefit yesterday in Chicago.

But the festival really took off, according to Billboard, is when "Steve Winwood, who Clapton said he'd been "waiting to play with for 25 years," joined the troupe to recreate the Blind Faith favorites "Presence of the Lord," "Can't Find My Way Home" and "Not My Cross To Bear" as well as Traffic's "Pearly Queen" and "Dear Mr. Fantasy" -- with Winwood playing blistering guitar solos on the latter. He remained on stage to help Clapton and company close their set with "Cocaine" and "Crossroads."

John Mayer and Rock God do not belong in the same sentence.

Probably not even John Mayer and Pop Icon.

I agree, it might be a stretch. He is a pretty good guitar player, though, even if he's not quite up there yet with the other Guitar Gods

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
