Here's a sensational new talent that has been flying under the radar. The music is kind of hard to describe - imagine a mixture of Brian Wilson, Marvin Gaye and Todd Rundgren - the end result are some really cool songs. Check his work out HERE and see for yourself.

"A quote from the Uncut (12/2004) review says it all: "It's hard to believe one man is making most of these sounds... Whereas his soul LPs have tended to be improvised over grooves and atmospheres, this is more crafted, the songs written on guitar or piano, the vocals layered with detail and delicacy... with each release he dynamites more barriers. You could lose yourself in this".

A tip of the hat to The Lefsetz Letter for the recommendation.

NPR's World Cafe featured Lewis Taylor in February, 2006. Following a short preview, Taylor plays "Stoned, Pt. 1", "Shame Frankenstein, Shame" and "Throw Me a Line" from his cd, 'Stoned'. Apparently, he plays all the instruments on the album. Listen Here

He isn't bad at all. Quite a mixture of influences apparent in those myspace tracks.

Lovelight was covered pretty well by Robbie Williams and got tons of airplay here. Not sure which version I prefer though.

You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
