ANNIE LENNOX's daughter's party CRASHED...

Recommended Posts

A party hosted by Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox's teenage daughter has reportedly left the pop star's former marital home trashed after gatecrashers learnt of the bash via the internet.

The Daily Mail said Lennox's 16-year-old daughter Lola emailed around 30 close school friends to say she was planning a get-together at her film producer father Uri Fruchtmann's north London home while he was out of town.

But word of the party spread like wildfire and eventually ended up on sites like MySpace, reported the paper, which did not include details of when the party occurred.

Hundreds of people gatecrashed the event, the paper said, scribbling graffiti on the walls, breaking pictures, ripping apart books, fighting in the back yard and vomiting and urinating on the carpets in the same house Lennox shared with Fruchtmann during their 12-year marriage.

"At first it was just lamps being knocked over and drinks being spilled," an unnamed friend of the family was quoted as saying in the Mail.

"But as things got worse people were urinating on the carpet in the corner of the living room, then there was graffiti being scrawled on and even etched into the walls, pictures were being taken down and damaged, CDs went missing, books were taken off bookshelves and pages were inexplicably ripped out.

"Lola's friends were totally outnumbered and the gatecrashers would not leave. The front door was locked shut to make sure no one else could get in, but the ones outside actually rammed it in, breaking its hinges.

"There was a fight in the garden, someone had deliberately filled the sink with detergent and let it run over so it flood the place. There was vomit on the stairs, and cigarette burns on the carpets, cans and bottles strewn inside and out. The place was a like a bombsite."

Eventually police were called in to bring the situation under control, the paper said.

Lola was grounded by her parents for an indefinite period, it said.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard told smh.com.au it had no information about the alleged trashing of the house.

Not exactly a new phenomenon. My buddy had a new years eve party years ago that he had told each person that they could bring a few people. By the time I got there @ 10, there were hundreds and this was a party his parents were there for. After repeated requests for people that didn't even know his son or his friends to leave his father ended up kicking out about 95% at 5 minutes to midnight.

Classic "reaching for a story" by the AP.

Breaking news!

Ted Turner's 2nd cousin arrested for shoplifting in Atlanta after seeing a Google-ad about the stolen item!

I dont know if its overreaching or not. It's no surprise that the party was crashed. But don't you find it strange that people actually trashed the house? Urinating on the carpets, etc - they set out to destroy it with no motivation.

I don't think it was without motivation at all.

As for the over-reaching, how many parties like this happen everyday? And now, how does the AP cover?

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
