Sparkle Continues War Against R. Kelly With "We Are Ready" Single

Sparkle's new single is "inspired by Lifetime's Documentary Surviving R. Kelly and Women affected by the "alleged" abuse of powerful men of pop culture," according to the song's description. Sparkles testified against R. Kelly, a former collaborator, in a case that involved her 14-year-old niece. She claims to have refused his bribe, a decision deemed as career suicide. Thanks to the allies that have inspired a renewed confidence to be vocal about the issue of sexual abuse, the songstress is finally back on the mic.

"I want to accredit @dreamhampton @briemirandabryant and everyone at @lifetimetv for presenting my and these courageous women testimonies with such care and accuracy," she wrote via social media following the documentary's finale. "This has been an emotional and eye-opening process. Please pray for all involved. Sincerely, Thank You!"

Sparkles career spans over decades having worked with Aaliyah on Age Ain't Nothing But A Number and R. Kelly on R. Her last studio album Told You So dropped in 2000.
