Washington Wizard John Wall will be undergoing surgery to repair bone spurs in his left heel and will be out for the season according to an announcement made by the team during the Wizards' matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday,

Wall is expected to be in recovery mode for six to eight months before he is able to fully return to basketball. ESPN reports that doctors have decided that the procedure is essential in order for Wall to fully address an injury that has pestered him for over a year.

"I've been with him for almost three years,'' coach Scott Brooks says of Wall. "He's as tough as they come. He never complained. He wanted to compete for his team, but it got to a point where he had to make some tough decisions. And that's why he met with a specialist."

This season, Wall has been averaging 20.7 points and 8.7 assists per game and has been soldiering through the pain in his heel at champion caliber at times even scoring 40 points and 14 assists in a December 16th game against the Lakers. The other reality of the spectrum triumphed in other games such as the December 8th game against the Cavaliers in which Wall only landed one point. In the Hornets game, it was Tomas Satoransky who started in Wall's place for the second time straight, finishing with 20 points and six assists.
