Isaac Hayes Quits 'South Park'

Recommended Posts

NEW YORK - Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.

Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.

Matt Stone responded sharply saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem — and he's cashed plenty of checks — with our show making fun of Christians."

And Mormons, and Jews, and Moslems...

wtf Chef. grow some skin.

I agree CTC, as nothing, or nobody is immune, or taboo there. Im of jewish descent, and willingly dump on jews, and anyone else I get in my sights in the name of humor. Hell we were going past the local Quickie Mart, IE Quick Mart, and I asked dad if he wanted to stop and see Hapu? ( Spelling? ) Hes almost 85 and just about shit himself, as he is the one i got my demented humor from. People need to stop being so bloody tightassed.

Too bad but I have feeling life will go at South Park with or without Chef. Now if Cartmen left, that could be a problem.

So he was fine with everything (and his paycheck) until they ragged on Scientology, eh? Ragging on jews, christians, muslims, mormons and etc was fine for Chef but don't even think about ragging on MY religion. What a hypocrite! <_>

According to this article, Hayes loved South Park and is recuperating from a stroke. The writer suggests the Church quit for him!

1st, the new quote system is beginning to look fun.

Anyway, the difficulty I have buying this, is if this is the truth... where did the "satire gone too far" quote come from?

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
