sexpistols.jpgNot only they turned it down but they posted a note at JohnLydon.com to slam the event by calling the Hall of Fame voters as "music industry people," and excoriated the high price of attending the exclusive event -- $25,000 for a table, "or $15,000 to squeak up in the gallery.

Read the note below. It's hand-written. Can't get more official than that!

That is funny.

I hope that they take the money they saved and spend it on penmanship and grammar lessons. I've seen better use of the words "your" and "you're" out of 5th grade students and the handwriting appears to be 4th grade at best.

It seems that I am not the only person living in a trailer park.

Pretty wierd. I was too old for the Sex Pistols and hated punk. All I recall is the name, Johnny Rotten, and that Sid Vicious stabbed his girl friend (I think, correct me if I am wrong).

I must say, it take balls to turn down the Hall of Fame. I wish the Hall would offer a membership to ABBA.

Regardless of who he is; this quote is spot on.

No, ABBA is not in the Hall yet. They have been eligible since 1999. ABBA from Sweden was the first group not from the U.S. or Britain to chart pop/rock records consistently over a period of several years. ABBA had 9 number one singles in Britain and sold probably 300 million records. Everyone knows the disco hits like Dancing Queen & Take A Chance On Me, but ABBA's catalog is filled with songs which explore every conceivable style of music. Beyond the group, Agnetha Faltskog, Frida Lyngstad, Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvaeus have had successful solo careers. ABBA will make the Hall of Fame. It is just taking time.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
