As the article mentions, I was one of the millions who first heard the horrible news of Lennon's death while watching Monday Night football on TV. If I thought seeing John Lennon interviewed by Howard Cosell on Monday Night football in the 1970's was surrealistic, hearing the buffoonish Cosell announce Lennon's death in 1980 was the most unbelievable gut-shot I've ever received...the impact of his words literally knocked the breath out of me. I'll never forget that moment.

I've heard some very bad things about him though. Some say he was not the person everybody things he was but he dide early so that makes him an icon
