jamesblunt.jpgIt's not often I have the urge to be unashamedly smug but James Blunt has just topped the UK singles and album charts for the second week running. The former army officer (who penned his album while actively serving in Kosovo) plays 14 instruments on his stunning debut album and thoroughly deserves the plaudits he's now getting.

Why am I so smug? Well I picked the album up at the beginning of the year and have been singing his praises ever since. He's got a fantastic voice and it's nice to see that just occasionally someone can succeed purely on talent and not because they are getting hyped to death by a record company marketing machine.

From the BBC:

Singer Blunt retains chart double

James Blunt has also topped the UK album chart with Back To Bedlam

Singer James Blunt has maintained his position at the top of both the singles and album chart in the UK.

The musician's song You're Beautiful remained at number one for a second week, extending his stretch in the hit parade to eight weeks.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
