Not sure if anyone other than myself here uses Verizon but thought I would post this. It does say "targeting computer users via e-mail, including messages sent to Verizon Online customers", so I guess it could apply to us all.

Security alert: E-mail Virus Targeting Verizon Online Users

There is a new virus propagating itself on the Web that is targeting computer users via e-mail, including messages sent to Verizon Online customers with the following delivery addresses: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected].

If you should receive such an e-mail, do NOT open any attachments, and delete the message immediately. Some attachment examples include: email-text.exe, INFO.zip, email-info.scr, IMPORTANT.zip, email-info.zip, and email-doc.scr.

Reminder: Verizon Online will never ask you for account information or to update account information via an e-mail attachment. If you inadvertently open an attachment from a questionable e-mail, scan your computer for viruses as soon as possible and, if necessary, contact your Anti-Virus manufacturer for more assistance.

Here are some examples of e-mail viruses targeting Verizon Online members:

Haha, i get crap like this constantly.

e-mails from support@slyck, info@slyck, webmaster@slyck, etc. saying things like account rules violation, password has been changed and account suspended. The variations are endless and it never stops.

Then there are the I Love You emails I get from tom@slyck. I havent opened the attachments to see if any are real ;)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
