LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears announced today that she was pregnant with her first child, ending months of speculation over whether the pop princess was launching a new career as a mother.

Spears, 23, who married dancer Kevin Federline last September in a surprise, private ceremony, made the announcement in a posting to fans on her official website.

April 12, 2005 (AXcess News) Hollywood - After whining about the tabloid magazines for saying she was pregnant, music diva Britney Spears has come clean and admitted that she was pregnant on a her web site.

When Britney posted the news on her web site it put an end to weeks of speculation by tabloid magazines that Spears and Federline were expecting their first child. At the time of her last post, Britney called the magazines liars. But she didn't apologize for it either after announcing her pregnancy to the world.

Rumors of Spears pregnancy have been cropping up for years, but since marrying Federline the gossip magazines have jumped on that bandwagon once again.

So to set the record straight, Spears wrote, "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together."

Music star Britney Spears has been learning all about promotion online and her web site, which gives a pop up announcing her pregnancy, has been totally retooled since her last story.

Britney Spears has helped husband Kevin Federline multiply and replenish the earth. Again.

The "Baby One More Time" singer gave birth to a baby boy Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles. The child is Spears' first, Federline's third. He has two young children from his previous relationship with actress Shar Jackson.

According to U.K.'s Sky News, Spears was considering naming her and Federline's child London, after the British capital, where their romance blossomed. Us Weekly's sources had the singer set on Preston Michael Spears Federline. Spears' publicist had no official confirmation.
