Can't help you with your question, however, I can put in a good word in general for "The Mars Volta" (and I will do so now, without starting a new thread).

As a whole, their last two albums aren't too appealing to me (too erratic, no consistency of melody and lyric), but for anyone that is into heavy heavy heavy progressive rock (Wingnut!), give it a go.

It's like a newer version of Rush, but with a lot of "effects" and less fluidity across song. It also has other genres (electronica, Jazz, and Latin Rock) mixed in as well.

Two songs that I do like unconditionally, the one mentioned above, and “The Widow” from “Frances the Mute” are accessible enough for less intense progessive rock/rock/metal/anyone fans (The Widow more so).

mars volta effects gear includes an Eventide Harmonizer H3500, a TC Electronic D2, a TC Electronic M2000 and a Yamaha SPX990.

mars volta effects pedals include a couple of Roland Space Echos that work as tape delay and reverb for special effects......

the mars volta console......

The main console is a Neve 8058 alongside a small Neve BCM-10 with 1066 mic pre's. all of the drums, guitars and keyboards go through the 8058 faders, and the bass and vocals through the rack of outboard mic pre's. there is also a Pro Tools rig, running 96k straight to two FireWire drives simultaneously; close to a Terabyte of space. On the front end are used Benchmark Media Systems AD2408-96 converters, running at 96k, 24-bit, 24 channels....welcome to beatking aco....

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
