It's a blink of an eye in history, but long enough for the 56-year-old Kurzweil to pay close heed to his fitness. He urges others to do the same in "Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever."

The book is partly a health guide so people can live to benefit from a coming explosion in technology he predicts will make infinite life spans possible.

Kurzweil writes of millions of blood cell-sized robots, which he calls "nanobots," that will keep us forever young by swarming through the body, repairing bones, muscles, arteries and brain cells. Improvements to our genetic coding will be downloaded via the Internet. We won't even need a heart.

The technology itself may be possible, but the implementation will be impossible for the overwhelming majority of the population.

Besides, we can't have a lot of people living for extended periods of time (even twice their normal expectancy). There just isn't enough room/materials on Earth to sustain that.

I don't want to live forever.

Pretty fascinating stuff - do you believe it's possible?

depends what you want to call " living ".....no doubt some form of life extension process is possible and like a lot of elitists/scientists, the gentleman in question is actually afraid of death, as are most normal humans.......and would like to extend his life process by any means possible...listen to this shit.......

" Improvements to our genetic coding will be downloaded via the Internet. We won't even need a heart. "

...downloading body parts via the internet and not actually having a beating heart is not what i would call " living "..even if technically you could call such an obscene scenario life......no doubt the rich and the powerful (who know as we all know that you can`t take it with you) will drive the market for this sort of thing...but as ken says..." i don`t want to live forever "....who in his right mind would??

Who wants to live forever.....

There's no time for us,

There's no place for us,

What is this thing that builds our dreams,

Yet slips away from us.

Who wants to live forever,

Who wants to live forever, .....?

There's no chance for us,

It's all decided for us,

This world has only one sweet moment

Set aside for us.

Who wants to live forever,

Who wants to live forever, .....?

Now touch my tears with your lips,

Touch my world with your fingertips,

And we can have forever,

And we can love forever,

Forever is our today.

Who wants to live forever,

Who wants to live forever, .....?

Who waits forever anyway?

i'm always happy to give others my blood but they have to sign a thingy stating they won't sue my ass when they realise they're not able to function (or move) until it wears off. i'm just sayin' :)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
