Groundhog Predicts More Wintry Weather

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) - Punxsutawney Phil has spoken, and the news isn't good.

The world's most famous furry forecaster saw his shadow Wednesday on Gobbler's Knob, suggesting another six weeks of wintry weather.

I had a nice chat with my grandfather the other day.

I know that if the groundhog sees his shadow, 6 more weeks of winter is assumed. I know if the opposite, summer soon.

However, I put it to him like this.

Ken: What if they pull him out and he's dead?

Grandpa: I guess we're all fucked.

I've never laughed so hard.

The SPCA wont show their head around here, as they are nothing but big hole digging rats. The ground hogs that is, and i would love to find out who thought they would be a nice introduction to this area. Something like the a-holes that put chain pickeral in our trout lakes.

No wonder the poor thing is afraid of its own shadow.  :o

True Wolfie! Once a yr is all he can take.

Hunter and rainbow, I know how you feel. I still pissed that some sombitch brought fireants to Mobile, Alabama from South America back in about 1949 if I remember correctly.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
