UPI News Service, 01/07/2005

Conservative Christians are upset rapper Kid Rock has been asked to do a youth concert as part of President Bush's inaugural festivities.

"What in the world are these people thinking?" asked Donald Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association in Tupelo, Miss. "This is the biggest slap in the face to the Christian conservatives."

Kid Rock reportedly will perform during "America Rocks Today: A Call to Service," a multimedia concert, the New York Daily News said. Bush's daughter Barbara is the event's co-managing director.

Later this afternoon, committee staff emphasized that Kid Rock was never officially booked to appear, arguing that he therefore could not have been canceled.

Well, they avoided that train wreck now didn't they?

Can't say I’m surprised....

It was going to be everything "conservatives" hate

*drug use

*sexual referencing

*rap music

* rock music that is just too loud and scary

*a scruffy looking guy with long hair

*midgets

*Kid Rock had an album called "Devil Without A Cause". Yeah, the religious extremist conservatives would have loved that.

* He was involved with Pamela Anderson, “that crazy PETA bitch” as Dick Cheney puts it.

No way in hell were they going to coexist.

Sure you can! It is politics. In politics you can say anything whether or not it has any truth to it. Chances are if what you say is bad.....it's true anyway especially if the word you use is "hypocrite". A prerequisite for being in politics is being a hypocrite.

Besides you can always change your mind. Flip-flopping is allowed.

Now whenever I think of the term "flip-flop", I feel like taking a steel rod to someone's skull.

I am forever scarred by that phrase. It just sounds............annoying now.

Suffice it to say I'm not going to the beach ever again.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
