  1. I'm in favor of a meritocracy - people should be rewarded for doing good.
  2. Sounds like a classy guy. I agree that in the best of all worlds, you shouldn't have to wear political issues on your sleeve. But politics in this country has become so dirty, most of us don't really care to vote any more - but we know the consequences if we don't, so we do. It comes down to this - the Republicans will do anything they can to stay in power including stopping people from voting, or screwing with the voting machines; and on almost any political position, if they say it's black, you can bet it's white. If you disagree with them, your weak and a communist. It's pathetic and socially, poltically and economically in the dark ages.
  3. He posted a workprint of Star Wars on the site with headlines...before the movie was released. Not smart.
  4. Fair enough. Frankly, I support the issue and find it hard hitting.
  5. If he was phony about it, I might agree with you. However, he's entitled to express his views, whether he is sick or not - and since the issue affects him personally, I see no reason why he shouldn't.
  6. Happy pre-Halloween everyone. I imagine some of you will be costuming it up--or mabe purchasing one. All I can see is work ahead of me for the weekend :( WhatAboutYou?
  7. It 's looking pretty spiffy - if it weren't for the price, I'd already be using it... Read all about it
  8. Warner Music Group has cut a deal with Internet video service Brightcove to be able to distribute its video content catalog on its own Web sites--and profit from it. In the partnership, announced Thursday, Warner Music Group will use Brightcove's software to embed Web-based video players in the sites for its labels--which include Sire, Atlantic and Elektra--as well as its individual artists. Visitors to the sites will be able to view on-demand music videos and related footage like artist interviews and performances in a free, ad-supported form. Additionally, Web media enthusiasts will be able to embed the content into their blogs, Web sites or profiles on social-networking services like MySpace.com. Read more
  9. Leto’s Blog Hatred Escalates to Violence - Stereogum Attacked! Amidst eye-witness reports of Jared Leto’s confrontation with Elijah Wood at last night’s mtvU Woodies awards show, we have just received an EXCLUSIVE account of yet another violent Leto incident, this one involving our friend Scott Stereogum. Here’s what Scott told us: After spotting Jared in the VIP section last night, Stereogum grabs some footage of himself boldly inquiring about Leto’s stated hatred of blogs. Jared, perhaps having made the realization he’s actually among the blog scum he so loathes, firmly grabs Stereogum’s arm and begins loudly expressing his displeasure with the question. Sensing that the eyeliner-wearing rock goddess might be in danger, a nearby security monkey grabs Stereogum, erases all the data in his camera, and forcibly removes him from the entire venue, severly injuring his left ring finger - his BLOGGING FINGER - in the process. Stereogum is now seeking medical attention and, possibly (if it were us, at least) legal counsel. Read more at BestWeekEver.tv Read more at Stereogum
  10. DudeAsInCoolsVille has arrived the Beat of the Kingdom
  11. Michael J. Fox's commerical was made because the candidate he supports also supports stem cell research, something the Republican candidate did not. I think the statement was not only personal but powerful... why do people think it was dirty in the UK?
  12. Lifehacker gives a heads up today on Adobe's Soundbooth, its music editor offering which is similar to Audacity: Windows and Mac: Adobe's new Soundbooth app promises to make short work of editing audio. The software can remove noise from recordings, polish voice-overs, add audio effects and filters, and create custom music to fit a production. In other words, Soundbooth is like an upscale version of everyone's favorite open-source audio editor, Audacity. But if you're heavily into audio and want a working sneak-peek of this new Adobe product (before they start charging for it), the beta stands ready for downloading. (And because it is a beta, make sure to view the known issues list before installing. An ounce of prevention and all that.) — Rick Broida You can download it and check it out at Adobe Labs

  14. Oct. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Clear Channel Communications Inc., the largest U.S. radio broadcaster, is considering a possible sale of the company and hired Goldman, Sachs & Co. as an adviser. The shares jumped 9.7 percent. The board is evaluating alternatives to increase the share price and can't assure that a transaction will occur, San Antonio-based Clear Channel said today in a statement. 16. The group's Parlophone label, whose artists include Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Radiohead and Norah Jones, is now accepting music files online, as well as in mailbags. Since the rise of the Internet and the MP3 file, recording employees' e-mail inboxes have been clogged with Web site links and music attachments, in addition to demo tapes and CDs arriving vie regular mail, according EMI said. New software designed by a former musician allows aspiring artists to upload their music files and publicity photos directly to Parlophone. "One of our top priorities is to keep our talent spotting process as efficient and up to date as possible," Nigel Coxon, head of Parlophone's artist and repertoire team, said in a statement.
