Police say Halloween night explosion at eBay PayPal building not an accident; No injuries SAN JOSE, Calif. - A Halloween night explosion shattered windows at an eBay building housing offices for the company’s PayPal division, forcing the evacuation of dozens of employees. PayPal spokeswoman Amanda Pires said Wednesday that the company had not received any threats but declined to comment on the investigation. The blast hit the first floor of the company’s network operations center. “We believe this is an isolated incident,” she said. “We’re working closely with local authorities. Diebold Inc. insisted that cable network HBO cancel a documentary that questions the integrity of its voting machines, calling the program inaccurate and unfair. The program, "Hacking Democracy," is scheduled to debut Thursday, , five days before the 2006 U.S. midterm elections. The film claims that Diebold voting machines aren't tamper-proof and can be manipulated to change voting results. Read more at the Seattle P.I.

A music industry group is asking XM Satellite Holdings Inc. and Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. to pay at least 10 percent of their revenues for the right to play songs over their networks. Unlike land-based radio stations, which pay royalties only to songwriters and music publishers, federal law requires satellite radio, digital cable and Internet companies that broadcast music to pay the artists and record companies.
