  1. I watched Walk The Line at a friend's house a few nights ago. Good movie although I never bought Cash's record.
  2. No, ABBA is not in the Hall yet. They have been eligible since 1999. ABBA from Sweden was the first group not from the U.S. or Britain to chart pop/rock records consistently over a period of several years. ABBA had 9 number one singles in Britain and sold probably 300 million records. Everyone knows the disco hits like Dancing Queen & Take A Chance On Me, but ABBA's catalog is filled with songs which explore every conceivable style of music. Beyond the group, Agnetha Faltskog, Frida Lyngstad, Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvaeus have had successful solo careers. ABBA will make the Hall of Fame. It is just taking time.

Seger is one of the greats!
  4. I am 60 and think the Internet and the web are FANTASTIC.
  5. Andy Gibb died in 1988. It took me years to appreciate the Bee Gees. Now, I regard them as one of the great groups of the rock era.
  6. Pretty wierd. I was too old for the Sex Pistols and hated punk. All I recall is the name, Johnny Rotten, and that Sid Vicious stabbed his girl friend (I think, correct me if I am wrong). I must say, it take balls to turn down the Hall of Fame. I wish the Hall would offer a membership to ABBA.

    Herman's Hermits

I was eating breakfast in a restaurant yesterday, and "There's A Kind Of Hush" came over the system. I sat and listened. I always felt this was a great song and a great record.
  10. There is a legal problem going on with the Kristina! musical. Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus are in court in Sweden with Carl-Johan Seth who was hired to write the original manuscript. Benny and Bjorn say that Seth's work was never used, and Seth has sued. There are plans for Kristina! to eventually open on Broadway in the U.S. Hopefully, the lawsuit will not keep this from happening. The Swedes have a way of working things out in amiable fashion.
  11. Great song! Those Beatle tunes will survive as long as music is played.
  12. Everybody said that it would last a year or two When Elvis has faded, we'll be into something new They were wrong, I've seen it proven, many years have flown We're all proud to see our music come into its own California to St. Louie, London, Liverpool Everywhere it's all the same, and everybody's cool Relling rocking, slipping sliding, we've been through it all Looking back across the years, we've really had a ball Long Live Rock & Roll, that feeling in your soul Keeps you from getting old, that good old rock & roll Long Live Rock & roll, come on, let's play some more Keeps me from getting old, that good old rock & roll The '60s had The Beatles, and they taught us how to live Told us what they knew of love and showed us how to give They're still doing fine although they may have settled down We still have their music, and those CDs spin around Two generations moving, grooving, singing with the band 50 years of changes, and it's still in great demand Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison too I just hope I live to see them all before it's through Long Live Rock & Roll, that feeling in your soul Keeps you from getting old, that good old rock & roll Long Live Rock & Roll, come on, let's play some more Keeps me from getting old, that good old rock & roll Disco dancing with The Bee Gees, I caught that fever too 4 young Swedes called ABBA won it all with Waterloo Prince, Madonna, Ms Shania making videos Now we've come full circle, that's how the story goes Everybody said that it would last a year or two When Elvis has faded, we'll be into something new But if you're up in Cleveland and you'd like to see your name Come on down to One Key Plaza to The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Long Live Rock & Roll, that feeling in your soul Keeps you from getting old, that good old rock & roll Long Live Rock & Roll, come on, let's play some more Keeps me from getting old, that good old rock & roll Jim Colyer
  13. No, I knew ABBA would never reunite. They are like The Beatles when it comes to that.
  14. I wrote and sang Merry Christmas. It may be the only Christmas song with both Santa Claus and Jesus Christ in it. listen... 15. This remake should be better than the one in 1976. It is set in the 1930s, and Kong will once again be climbing the Empire State Building. (He climbed the World Trade Center in the '76 remake, if you remember). Naomi Watts plays the part of Ann Darrow. I hope she does not scream as much as Fay Wray. 100 MOVIES http://jimcolyer.com/papers/entry?id=28 JIM COLYER http://www.jimcolyer.com
  16. Stallone should use his money to build an oil refinery instead of wasting it on another Rocky film.

  18. Three Dog Night was all over the radio for about 5 years. I never cared for them although I did like "Easy To Be Hard" from the musical, Hair. "Joy To The World" was out right after I came out of the Army. I hated that song! "Jeremiah was a bullfrog!" What a stupid line. Yet, it is the one line from their catalog that has survived. I would be driving down the road in my car, and that song would come on the radio. I turned it off everytime. It is amazing that a group could be as big as Three Dog Night was and totally disappear as if they never existed. I know their lead singer went through hell although I have not looked into the details. http://www.jimcolyer.com
