  2. Why is it that Lil Mama continues to get humiliated in public settings? Remember when the "Lip Gloss" star hopped on stage at an award show uninvited and got ripped to shreds immediately after on social media? How could you not! She's not exactly facing the same level of backlash for this but there are certainly people clowning her for trying to get with Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill. This weekend, Meek announced that Hot Girl Summer is officially over by posting a photo of newly-minted couple Kehlani and YG (Baelani) on his own profile. He noted that he's trying to follow his Bompton friend in finding a wife and Lil Mama volunteered to take that spot. "Why you ain't just post us," she wrote in the comments. That was enough to elicit a response from Meek Milly, who didn't entirely seem down to go on a date with homegirl. "Oh you shooting ya shot 'shot' huh," asked the superstar in response. The comical exchange was captured by The Shade Room, who reposted it for the tea to get sipped by all their followers. As you would expect, the comments section was pretty messy. "Lmaooooo this is her jumping on stage all over again," wrote one commenter. Another compared her to a desperate high schooler just trying to get his hug from the popular girl. Do you think Lil Mama has a shot with Meek or is this it? View the full article
  3. It's been a fruitful time to be a Wiz Khalifa fan, as the affable stoner has essentially opened his vault to the public. Following an onslaught of damn-near-daily freestyles, Wiz has picked up where last week left off with another one. On "Don't Stop," Wiz slows his pace down, taking to a flipped variation of Nelly's "Luven Me" instrumental. And for the most part, the beat is the perfect backdrop for his steady, unchallenging flow; smokers oughta be delighted at this truly "chill" offering. That said, the man has never been once to push the boundaries, nor should he really compelled to do so. Many have come to appreciate Wiz's everyman-level charm and appreciation of the finer things, including but not exclusive to: jewelry, beautiful women, and potent marijuana. And given it was his birthday yesterday, you can bet he dabbled in at least two of the three within the last twenty-four hours. Peep this one now, and sound off below - is Wiz killing it these days? 20. In just 24 hours, Earthgang will drop their highly-anticipated project, Mirrorland. The Atlanta hip hop duo, along with their label Dreamville, have embarked on quite the rollout for the record, and on Wednesday they finally revealed the tracklist and production credits. Earthgang took to their Instagram page to share each track, one by one. They featured each song as its own tarot card complete with specially-designed artwork to accompany the track. Along with listing the producers—and additional producers—who contributed to the album, they also made sure to highlight each vocalist who lent their talents, as well. There aren't many features included on Mirrorland, surprisingly, as the pair have only linked with Young Thug, T-Pain, Kehlani, and Arin Ray on the record. Many fans lamented in the comment section about not seeing a J.I.D feature, but even without the DiCaprio 2 artist, Mirrorland is shaping up to be something monumental. To top things off, Earthgang also announced that they're dropping a full tarot deck on Friday, as well. Check out the images and tracklist below. Tracklist 1. Lala Challenge — prod. by Lido & Olu 2. 21. R. Kelly's family has endured much over the years as the singer has been the subject of both ridicule and controversy for decades. Now, his children are stepping forward to share what life has been like living under the umbrella of scandal as Kelly is once again facing charges, this time for child pornography, sex trafficking, and sexual abuse. Buku Abi, whose real name is Joann Kelly, has been a featured cast member on the most recent season of Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta. The 21-year-od has spoken openly about her relationship, or lack thereof, with her father, something that she elaborated on during a recent interview with the Associated Press. The accusations against Kelly began prior to Abi being born due to Kelly marrying Aaliyah when the late R&B singer was just 15-years-old. “I think you get to see a different side of it than somebody who sees it from the outside and gets to see the glitz and glam," Abi said of growing up with a famous parent. "I got to see the hell part of it. I didn’t want to be in the industry.” Abi was four-years-old when Kelly was first indicted on child pornography charges, and when she was 10, he was acquitted. Her family sheltered her as much as they could from the gossip about Kelly, but when she enrolled in public school, her peers didn't hold back. “At home it’s normal, you’re living a life with your parents; your dad and mom aren’t going to go into all the bad things that might be going on outside of home, but kids in school don’t necessarily care," she said. "Fifth and sixth grade is when I started learning the sore part of it, the not so good part. I think that was the hardest part for me because for so long I went with this image of who my dad (was) and what my family (was).” “I definitely run across challenges — people wanting to work with me to spite him or people not wanting to work with me just because of who he is,” Abi added about her attempts at making it as an aritst. “I’ve definitely come across turmoil...being judged for really no reason at all, just based off associations. I’ve been pushing through it. Me making the art, it saved my life so there’s nothing really that would be able to stop me.” They may have a strained relationship, but Abi also noted that she can't deny that her father is talented. "There’s a lot about him as an artist that inspires me.” View the full article
  22. The Beyhive may have designated September 4th as their "Bey Day" to celebrate the birth of Beyoncé, but the date is also special to rapper Travis Scott. It was on that day back in 2015 that he released his debut studio album, Rodeo, via Epic Records and Grand Hustle Records. The album—which hosted features from artists including Kanye West, Future, ScHoolboy Q, Young Thug, The Weeknd, 2 Chainz, Quvao, Swae Lee, and Justin Bieber—put Travis on the map and helped solidify his standing in the new generation of rap. Travis made sure to mention the four-year celebration of his platinum-selling record by tweeting, "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO RODEO. ONE OF MY FAVORITES. MAN GET WILD TO IT. OR NOT. LOVE U." His brief message has been retweeted nearly 30,000 times and liked almost four times that number as fans have jumped in his comments with requests for new music. If you haven't done so already, check out Travis's Netflix film Look Mom I Can Fly which documents not only the creation of his Grammy-nominated album Astroworld, but the rise of his music career and backstory into his home life. In the meantime, make sure to let us know which Rodeo track is your favorite. View the full article
  23. It's been an interesting week for Malik Yoba. The relatively quiet actor has become the topic of social media conversations after he revealed that he is a "trans-attracted" man, making him the target of criticism. In followup videos, the Empire actor pleaded with the public to become better aware about the transgender community before passing judgment. "Just like I didn't understand Spanish, but I got close to it and learned to speak it," he previously stated. "French. Japanese. Musical instruments. Math equations. You don't understand these things so you lean in. You ask questions. You inform yourself." The actor was then accused of roaming the streets and looking for transgender underage prostitutes by a woman who claims she had repeated sexual encounters with Yoba when she was 13 and 16-years-old. In a video that Yoba uploaded to Instagram on Wednesday, the actor decided to spit a few bars to let people know how he really feels. His main goal was to say that no matter what we're all sisters and brothers, but those that spew hate at him are the ones who are truly confused. "A lot of nonsense is floatin' around town the last few days," he said after the freestyle was over. "What am I going to say about all this? I'm not gonna defend myself. Imma dig deep, I'm gonna lean into my creativity." Meanwhile, Yoba's ex and the mother of their two children commented on one of his videos, sharing that he is currently in a "trans relationship" while condemning the actor for not speaking with his children before sharing this news with the world. “I expressed that 2 months ago to you when I became aware of your current trans relationship,” she reportedly commented. “Why did you NOT have a conversation with our children and wait till last night to text our 1st born with this info. Yet you were preparing your Public months ago on IG! Our children support you and keep so much a secret of what really goes down with our family dynamic. I asked to meet you over a month ago and you have yet to make time. So here I am !! If you know better then do better! Family is first over ALL.” View the full article
  24. We're creeping up on eight months since Jussie Smollett told Chicago police that he was verbally and physically accosted on the city's streets, and the world still doesn't know for sure what went on that evening. It's apparent that Smollett won't undergo criminal charges in connection to the incident, but the city of Chicago isn't letting the actor back out of this one without paying up, somehow. Back in April, Chicago sued Smollett for $130K, citing that he should reimburse the city for the overtime payments it made to investigators involved in tracking down the truth related to his alleged assault. Smollett doesn't believe that he should be held responsible, and recently his lawyer, William Quinlan, spoke out against the lawsuit by calling it a "vindictive effort to prosecute charges." “This unprecedented civil case was filed simply because former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel disagreed with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s decision to dismiss the false police report charges against Mr. Smollett,” Quinlan said in documents, according to Page Six. Quinlan is calling for the lawsuit to be dismissed. "Mr. Smollett has always maintained and continues to maintain his innocence. Yet the City’s claims and purported damages are a vindictive effort to prosecute charges that the State’s Attorney pursued and then chose to drop,” the 12-page motion reads. Theo Wargo/Getty Images The actor also continues his narrative that he was, indeed, telling the truth about what happened to him that fateful day. "Mr. Smollett disputes any and all assertions that he made a false statement and was not a victim of a crime," the document reads. Yet, it does include a part that states even if Smollett did make a false statement to authorities, he wouldn't have had prior knowledge regarding how thorough the investigation would be into his case, therefore he wouldn't know how much money would go behind the manpower. "The City asserts that the aforementioned two statements foreseeably caused 1,836 hours of overtime of CPD [Chicago Police Department] overtime hours plus untold hours of non-overtime police work,” the court document continues. "But the filing of a police report, in and of itself, does not necessitate a sprawling investigation nor does it, as a practical matter, usually result in an investigation as extensive as the one the CPD chose to undertake in this case; rather, the filing of a police report enables the police and prosecutors to decide whether and how to investigate." Smollett and his team will find out whether or not the lawsuit against the actor will be dismissed when a judge rules on the matter in October. View the full article
