  1. As a note, never shoot a wabbit at 5 yards with a full choke 12 gauge with #4 shot. thats what the better half did. To quote Jed Clampet. Pitiful just pitiful. Oops, i almost forgot to add that we dont actually have wabbits here, we have hares.
  2. Now you dont really want to see my moon do you? Also be vewwey vewwey quiet as Im hunting wabbits.
  3. Happy Birthday folks, and a big well done. You have done a super job with the site. It truly is a very friendly, informative place. :scratchin: :scratchin: :scratchin: :scratchin: :good job:
  4. we dont have too many problems with that right now. True story, this morning, opening day of bow season, the betterhalf caught another person in her treestand. her warning was, and i quote " if I ever catch your ass in my stand again, the only thing you will feel is an arrow up your ass" end quote. she is a target archer, and there was no aguement.
  5. Im commonly whats known up here as a bottom feeder, enough said? LOL
  6. Not to say the amount of goose crap they can leave on your lawn. Feels real nice between the toes if you go bare footing.
  7. Its a nice place, run by two friends that I have a lot of respect for. For being done so quickly its looking sweet.
  8. Actually you probably would have to, just to pay for all the transplants.
  9. Me takes a close look at the pic. Didnt you use to play with crosby stills, and nash? Ducks, and runs like hell. LOL
  10. You know what they say, everybody needs a little ------. PS all kidding aside, i dont know how anyone can just dump a pet.
  11. Yo welcome folks, and I think I might even know one of these new members.
  12. Thats cool method, and Im against hunting animals for sport, as Im not well off, and my toys were obtained as payment for helping at the store. When I hunt its for my winter meat, for pleasure i target shoot. The only pleasure I get from hunting is doing it cleanly.
  13. If you choose to buy one, either buy it from a good pro shop, or have your friend help you choose one. The two most important things to know, are #1 the bow has to be in your exact draw length, or you wont be able to shoot it properly, and #2 dont over bow yourself, IE too high a poundage. A good way to start off is to look for used packages in an archery shop, as many people just have to have the latest cammo, although the deer just dont seem to notice if its last years cammo or not. Another thought is would you choose to shoot with fingers, or with a release? If you choose a release, then your draw length should be measured using the release you plan on using. the scott mongoose is a personal favorite of mine as it is easily adjustable for different shooters, as well as being extreemly smooth. If the arm you are using to draw the bow is your bad one, then possibly a glove type release would allow you to draw the bow more easily. If the glove is what you choose the Winn Free Flight is a good choice. Hope I helped you a bit.
  14. The 6.5-55, was used in Sweden as a long range sniper rifle due to its consistant ability to poke bullets in the same hole at long range. With the normal 149 grain load its speed is not great, but when you use a hot 129 grain handload its muzzle velocity is around 3300 fps or better, while retaining its consistancy. A compound bow is a possibility as the draw weight iis adjustable, and with what is known as let off, a 60 pound pull bow would only cause you to hold as low as 7, or 8 lbs at full draw.
  15. My opinion is that the players need to understand that they are entertainers. As such they are only worth what people are willing to pay them. In order to pay them people have to attend games, and that is impossible except for a select few, as the prices are too high. Hence the league is going in the hole big time. Now i dont blame just the players, as the owners caused this situation by overpaying players, and digging this hole. The players can bitch all they want, but the hard line is that most teams are not showing a profit, and if the money loosers are shut down, there will be a lot of long faces among the players. I say lock it the hell down. and if they wont listen to reason, start over again with a salery cap.
  16. We are just rolling into bow season here right now, so i guess you know where my priorities are. Whitetails, enough said?
  17. Although i really dont see the need for these weapons, I also have to admit that be deffinition many guns could called Assault weapons. Including the old 303 british, as they were used in many assaults. I dont have any of the firearms you folks are talking about, as we are not permitted to have them here. What i do have is a very healthy belief that teaching proper firearms handling is the proper way to regulate things. Also we do have a few guns hanging around. 2- 12 gauge single shots, and a 12 gauge pump i just finished rebuilding for the betterhalf for upland game. A 20, and a 410, and to go along with them we both have old 30-30 wins for deer hunting at close range, as well as a savage 99, in 308 for the wife, a mauser rechambered to 308 win for me for field hunting, and im presently finishing off a custom build for the wife. An old 6.5 by55 sniper rifle with the sights removed to permit lower scope mounting, a hand made stock by yours truly to fit her shorter pull, a 3 pound trigger pull with the timmney trigger, and a low swing safety to clear the scope. With the 129 grain hand loads, can you say tack driver of a deer gun. i just cant help myself, as I work part time at an outfitting shop.
  18. Very vulnerable at that Ken, as those pumps can never handle the amount of water, and if they were able to run at full force it would still take a very long time for things to get pumped out. thats not even considering the problems with backed up sewage, and related bacteria.
  19. I have been reading about this and its a truly scary thought , and although i didnt read the link yet its my understanding that the water is normally kep out with pumps.
  20. True, but as i said if they overpopulated, then something has to be done. Poisoning i dont agree with, and never have. I know how poison works, and wont use it. Now it is just a personal prefference, but I shoot tree rats with my bow,as if i poison them the death is in my opinion cruel, and i may also poison another part of the food chain.
  21. My opinion is that I dont kill for sport, but eat what i kill. No bait, just doing it the hard way. The only possible reason i could see for fox hunting is if the population is too high, and causing major problems. I do not believe in killing needlessly, or with dogs, unless it is a threat to life and limb. I enjoy target shooting with both guns, and bows, but when hunting i do the hunting myself, and cannot kill needlessly.
  22. Kinda reminds me of the song the cowboy was singing when he wiped the shit of his mustache. "Ive been looking for love in all the wrong places".
  23. Hmm, makes note to self. Fold laundry so coach can be seen, put shotgun shells in gun cabinet, so I dont have a shirt pile, and can put them in the dresser drawer where the ammo is. No Im not posting a pic.
