  1. Haha, I said I was going to avoid Harry Potter. I got suckered into the first one by my girlfriend, then everyone in the theater fell asleep (Including the little kids and my girlfriend), except for me and I had to sit there bored as hell because I wasn't tired. Then the second one I got sucked into watching during the summer by my friends. They dragged me out saying it wouldn't be so bad and I guess it was ok. The third one though was a different story. I was determined to avoid it for a while, but my stepbrother begged me to take him the first day. Finally I gave in and drove him up for the first showing after he was done school, which was at 4:20. Well apparently they never listed it on the theater sign and the 4:50 showing was sold out, so everyone was leaving without asking anything. He wanted tickets to the 8:00 one and I thought it would be the soonest since there were a bunch of sold out signs up on the board and they were covering the times, so I assumed one of the times was 4:20. It wasn't listed though because we asked the woman working the ticket counter and she was like well you can go to the 4:20 one, but we don't have the movie here yet. Then the toher woman was like well we just got it in, so let them in. So we walked in and found a couple of seats in the back, but then looked around to find a bunch of 10 - 14 year olds with like the only people my age being ones that came with their litte brothers and sisters. MY stepbrother is 15 and even he was too old to be there. I thanked him for that and for making me sit for 30 minutes slouched in my seat while they were waiting for the movie to start, with the lights on. I guess it wasn't that bad, I just hope no one saw me. :)
  2. I have seen pretty much everything in the Theaters right now, including Around the World in 80 Days. I don't recommend that :) I do recommend Shrek 2 just because Potato brought it up and The Gingerbread Man is the best character ever (Remember the thong scene Potato?). Next up is Spiderman 2, then King Arthur.
  3. Copycat :P Make sure you post what you thought of it after. I'm going to be interested to see what everyone thinks of the movie that is supposed to be the biggest of the summer. I hope it doesn't disappoint. The last midnight showing that I caught was Van Helsing and that wasn't what I would call a very good movie. If it wasn't for the cool graphics, that would have been even worse.
  4. I have heard from people who read the comics that it follows the storyline almost perfectly. Is that true dude?
  5. I have a thing about catching at least one movie every week and I have managed to pretty much hold up to that every week for the past year or so. This week it's going to be Spiderman 2. I picked up my midnight showing tickets yesterday and it is being shown at 12:00 am Wednesday Morning. I can't say I was a huge fan of the first one. I mean it was cool, but Spiderman just looked so fake when he was swinging around. It had a hell of a storyline though and it was well acted. This one doesn't look like it is going to fall off much, if at all. Now I'm not a comic book reader and I never have been, but from an honest moviegoers opinion, I think it's going to be worth a viewing. What do you guys think?
  6. That second one is my favorite. Just imagine standing there while all of that is happening. It takes some balls to do what he did and it was worth some laughs, but he should have just walked away. Good post dude. I was laughing my ass off.
  7. 6 out of 10. I can live with that since I was born in 83.
  8. I just saw this running across msn, it's the top 100 of all time as they rate them. http://entertainment.msn.com/music/article...162134&GT1=3584
  9. Ah yeah dude, it is the cal tech of the east coast. I think M.I.T. ranks first, but its so far out of reach that it doesn't even compete on the same level with the others. Then Cal Tech and RIT come in right behind. I know PA is not too far from school either, I visited some friends in Scranton one night. It was a nice place. I love PA since there are no highway cops (I did 110 all the way to and from Scranton). Too bad you don't live in PA anymore. The have some good concerts between RIT and PA all the time that I can't get people my age to go and see. They have no respect for any groups that came out before Nirvana.
  10. Watkins Glen? Must live in NY, lol. That's like an hour and a half from where I go to college (RIT in Rochester).
  11. As I saw from posting this on ZP, many people will come up with user related errors. My suggestion is if you plan to use this, make sure that the .Net framewok is installed and also check their forums. They don't have many posts, but the ones they do have are very helpful.
  12. Method, how was Rage? Details, I need details. :) For a funny side note. The sports section was boring me the other day, so I flipped forward in the newspaper to the Ann LAnders column that those two women run now (She died in case anyone doesn't know). Anyway some people were writing in to say that they would let their kids listen to Rage Against the Machine. Apparently some woman wrote in saying that they would never, in a million years, let their kids buy a Rage Against The Machine album because she was afraid groups like that, with their language and loud guitars. People all over were writing in response to it because of the fact that Rage was the one group who had a real message to give. When I have kids someday (If I do, thanks to that cell phone thing), I am going to make sure the give Rage a listen.
  13. I think there are a lot of people who feel that way. Personally I like Mr. Bungle just as much as Faith no more, but that isn't a common occurence among fans. Have you given Tomahawk a try? God Hates A Coward is an experience alone. It takes a couple of listens to get to like it, but after that it's an awesome song. I'm glad at least someone else knows them. :)
  14. Umma, my personal favorite site for deals on stuff like digital cameras is http://www.slickdeals.net ... These people spend their whole day trying to find the best deals, whether it be price matching, pricing mistakes, rebates, or clearence. If you watch it everyday, between the hot deals forum and the front page, they will run digital camera after digital camera a lot cheaper than you can get them anywhere else. The members review everything to. It's really cool. I have bought a lot of different things as a result of seeing it pass through this site. Some like http://www.fatwallet.com to. Either one will get you the best deals possible. I hope that helps you if you plan to get a digital camera.
  15. Alright well thanks to my cellphone and using my laptop with wireless on my lap while sitting in the lounge between classes, I think it's pretty safe to say I am never going to be able to have kids. I guess that is a good thing.
  16. Hopefully you and everyone else will get some soon so that you can all get all of your friends and family accounts to. It's not really fair that some people have some and some don't. Beta test or no beta test ;)
  17. If you want a quick showing of how talented he is, check out the A Small Victory video at: http://launch.yahoo.com/artist/default.asp?artistID=1008776 Edit: Here are Ashes To Ashes and Last Cup Of Sorrow. Ashes to Ashes will show off his voice about as well as any song. If you like wells ung songs, try either, but especially try Ashes to Ashes. http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/faith_no_more/artist.jhtml
  18. Here is one that has a lot of live and demo stuff from Mr. Bungle: http://www.bunglefever.com Edit: This is Mike Patton's record label. It has some various pictures and other things from his groups. It also shows you how funny he is. http://www.ipecac.com/main.php and here is a fan site: http://www.bungletofantomas.com/ If you google him, you will probably find a lot more.
  19. They show up at the top of the screen when you login, right next to create a filter and right under search mail. It should say invite a friend. I doubt you have recieved any invites yet though since your account is so new. It is a random process now though, so you never know. I hope everyone gets one that wants one. It is a nice system.
  20. Now this is an exact copy of my Zeropaid posting. Why you ask? Frankly, I can't do it any better. Dude brought up Mike Patton in pm and said I should start a thread on him. Well, this is the best I can do. Before I repost it, I want to say something. Give this a chance. This man is not like anyone you have ever heard before. He can sing any style of music and he does, he has the perfect singing voice, and he has never really sold out. Every album that he does, experimental or not, is as highly rated as could possibly be and he has influenced many, many rock groups of today. Some say that not many people bought a Velvet Underground album when they first released them, but anyone who did became a rock star. Well, the same can be said for anything Mike Patton had to do. Evey song he does is completly different, every song he does features a different vocal masterpiece, sometimes changing them over 10 times in one song. So if you get a chance, give some of these songs a listen. You won't be sorry. If you need help picking out a song to try, pm me with your favorite type of music (E.g. Hard Rock, Soft Singing, Songs with screaming... However you want to explain what you are looing for) and I will help you to find a song to fit your taste. Anyway here is the repost for Beat King. Hopefully it goes over better. I would have posted it here first, but I was not yet a member and I learned my lesson about Zeropaid and Music. Repost: Well I see everyone doing their fanboying for their favorite singers, albums, bands, and so forth... Usually I just keep quiet, but I can't resist this one time. Does anyone listen to anything by Mike Patton? He is by far my favorite singer and if I were to power rate singers by stuff like range, versatility, etc... I would put him first. This isn't a naive gesture either, I go way back with many, many types of music and have heard arguments for all of these different singers, but I change a lot of them when I get people to listen to this man sing. Basically you have a man who can sing almost anything humanly possible and can go beyond that with digital editing... He can go as high as you need and as low as you need, while constantly changing the way his voice sounds. I mean you can listen to a song that he has done and swear that it's a few different lead singers in it, singing each part. If you look him up anywhere, he and his groups are considered pretty much the most influential of our time. All the "big" rock groups now have them listed as influences and any songs you hear nowadays probably had their style previously done a decade or so ago by Patton. Groups he has been a part of: -Mr. Bungle - They started in the mid 80s as a college group, continue on today... This was a very talented group that would put out albums with many different songs that each was a completly different style of music, all for the sake of trying to match up with Mike Patton's vocals. I mean 13 years ago these guys were doing Slipknot like stuff, ska, and some other before their time songs. Each album was completly different though, along with every single song. Good Songs are: My Ass Is On Fire - Slipknot like song with like 20 different vocal changes. Carousel - Ska with insane speed singing Retrovertigo - Slow, well sung rock song Slowly Growing Deaf - Slow rock song that shifts into fast punk song Sweet Charity - Beach Boys type song with a harder edge Goodbye Sober Day - One of the strangest songs you will ever hear, but amazing nonetheless. -Faith No More - Most people have heard of this group. They were popular on MTV during the first half or so of the 90s. They started in 1985 with Courtney Love as their lead singer, then dropped her for Chuck Mosely. As they were breaking out they fired Chuck and begged college singer Patton to join them, while their other choice was Chris Cornell. Patton finally agreed and they took off. Unlike Mr. Bungle though, they kept their music straight up and didn't try to change it with Patton's vocal shifts. It came off as good though, but they admittingly were no where near as big in their day as they were after they broke up in I think 1999. After that break up, all of these huge rock bands started naming Faith No More as their influence and they became legends in the rock world. Good Songs Are: Epic - 1989 white boy rap song that is crossed with a Wheatus like sound MidLife Crisis - Grunge sounding song, almost pulls off something like Alice In Chains with a lot of vocal shifts. Ashes to Ashes - Rammstein like vocals to Wheatus to something in between. Sad song though. Easy - Cover song, very R & B sounding. A Small Victory - Great vocal rock song Last Cup Of Sorrow - Very edgy rock song, strange but good vocals Stripsearch - Almost sounds like Seal.. Kindergarten - Fun to listen to as he goes from high to low on the same word. -Fantômas - Combonation of Melvin's guitarist, Mr. Bungle's Bassist, and Slayer's Drummer. They are an experimental metal group that has done three albums so far. The first was set to a comic book and was simply sound effects that came off as something more. It's really weird, but cool to hear. The second was a cover album of their favorite movie theme songs, and the third was one long, but well structured song that they put their heart and soul into. Good Songs: Experiment In Terror - This one tests the strangness and the range of Patton Spider Baby - Fun song to listen to, very deep voice and creepy background vocals -Tomahawk - This is a combo of The Jesus Lizard's guitarist, Melvin's bassist, and Helmet's drummer. This is an experimental metal/southern rock group. Good Songs: Sweet Smell Of Success - Very strange vocals, between a raspy voice, a smooth voice, and then a southern sounding rock voice. God Hates A Coward - Insane song that he does behind this special singing mask that allows him to make it sounds like he is echoing in a room. I have seen him do it live, it's really really cool to hear. Other Stuff to look for: Lovage - Techno Group His solo stuff, which is all experimental. he did a whole album of sound effects with his voice and some vocal tools. He also has lead sang for other groups when they needed someone to fill in, like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Sepultura. So anyway yeah, thanks for listening to my little thing about Mike Patton. I hope before you judge, you try at least a few of his songs. Every song you hear will be completly different, so you may hate one and like another, while not even being able to comprehend that it's the same guy on both songs. :)
  21. Well it wouldn't be right if I didn't say something. I don't like the direction that Weiland takes with his life, but he has always been one of the best singers around. They had some great grunge songs and when times changed, they kept up by changing to other styles to fit times. So were they sell outs? Grunge rip offs? Grugne Lite? Maybe all three, maybe one or two, maybe none... I don't have an answer, I just like the music. Thanks for starting this dude. It's a good thread. :)
  22. Oh I could talk about STP all day long. Some people really hate them though. They called them grunge rip offs, even though Weiland sounded nothing like anyone else from the grunge era (I personally think he sounded better than any of them) and they went with tight guitar riffs rather than jumping aroudn with solos like everyone else did. I think it's a mental thing that I have to constantly put them up and defend them, simply because some people choose to hate them for various reasons.
  23. STP (just a shortened version of Stone Temple Pilots, no real meaning) went on to do 4 more records, then a greatest hits. They had some big hits on the second record (Purple), like Interstate Love Song, Vasoline, and Big Empty. Then the next record (Tiny Music... Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop) was pretty weak, but scored some small time hits like Big Bang Baby and Lady Picture Show. The fourth album (#4) scored a pop rock hit with Sour Girl (You should see Weilands range on this song) and a hit with their hardest song pretty much ever, which was Down. Then the 5th (Shangri-La Dee Da) had a smooth hit called Days Of The Week. The greatest hits also had a small hit called All In The Suit That You Wear. As for Velvet Revolver. It sounds like a harder version of STP with Slash doing guitar solos. Basically it's like taking the song Down and adding a solo to it. They have three softer songs on the album, but nothing Sour Girl type soft. It's all good stuff though.
  24. Looks like we are having to pay for Weiland's trips to court. I doubt many of the fans care about the copy protection though. This group sold out like every show before they even had a record. They only performed one original song at their first show. I was a big STP fan and a big Guns N' Roses fan, so yeah, I love Velvet Revolver too. :)
  25. Sorry about your Grandfather. I've been through that myself, it's never easy. It was nice of you to offer up your invites. Congratulations to the winners, you are in for a treat with Gmail. On a side note, Dude. We are going to get you one, one way or another. If I were you, I would go to http://www.gmailswap.com/ and offer up something really dumb for a gmail account, like a cyber hug or something. So many people with invites show up there, you can get one just for playing like you are really sad and need one really bad.
