LONG RANGE 'Control Me' EP Released: OUT NOW on Pure Mint Recordings Support inc: Rex the Dog, Dave Seaman, Greg Churchill, Lee Coombs, Jodie Wisternoff, General Midi, Mason, Timo Maas, Crystal Method, Eddy Temple Morris & Tom Findlay 'Recommended' 9/10 - "3 top class cuts of hard hitting acid-electronica, each knocking spots off 99 per cent of the competition" I-DJ 4/5 - DJ "Simply excellent electronic music" The Fly world.idolweb.fr: http://world.idolweb.fr/pure-mint-recordin...0111190279.html iTunes Link http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/control-me-ep/id343142361 7Digital http://www.7digital.com/artists/long-range/contol-me-ep Juno http://www.junodownload.com/products/1497499-2.htm Phil Hartnoll needs little introduction to anyone with a passing interest in electronic music. One half of the mighty Orbital, the groundbreaking electronic music pioneers who reformed earlier this year for a string of headline appearances, hes also one of the main collaborators in the collective known as Long Range with Nick Smith, James Day, Ben Burns, Will White (Propellerheads) and Toby May. Orbital, of course, reformed this year to headline a string of festivals including the Big Chill, Global Gathering, Get Loaded In The Park and Rock Ness. They've also played a slew of arena dates around the UK and beyond, and have been welcomed back to the fray like conquering heroes. Long Range began shortly after Orbital split up in 2004. The Hartnoll brothers had been sat in the same studio with each other for 15 years, producing a string of award-winning Orbital albums and singles, and wanted to try something new. Paul produced a solo album, while Phil teamed up with Nick Smith for the Long Range project producing a critically acclaimed album named 'Madness & Me'. Following this album, Long Range has expanded into a fully-fledged band and here release the 'Control Me' EP on Pure Mint - three slabs of intricately worked, varied techno music. The title track fizzes and squelches in all the right places, and features a sleazy male/female vocal interplay on the theme control its either sado-masochistic, anti-authoritarian, or both! 'Tools', meanwhile, boasts glistening shards over a low-end gurgle, a track so intricately worked it could be a long-lost Orbital classic. Finally, 'Flip' is filmic and journeying, like the soundtrack to a French art house film. Its a great package, picking up the baton from where Long Range left off while Phils been busy with Orbital gigs and Nick working on film scores. To celebrate the release of this EP, Pure Mint are offering an exclusive free download of Long Ranges 'Lie Down' track recorded live at the Green Room. The track originally appeared on Long Ranges acclaimed Madness & Me album. Just go to http://pure-mint.com/download/longrange for the free MP3.
  4. Dennis Ferrer has been nominated for a Grammy. New Jersey based House music producer DENNIS FERRER has just been nominated for a Grammy for his "Dennis Ferrer Objektivity Mix" of Dido's "Don't Believe In Love" (Arista). Talking en route to a gig Ferrer said "I feel honored and lucky at the same time. Very few of us in our genre get the nod of acknowledgement when it comes to being judged in the mainstream." Adding he found out about the nomination this AM when "Carl Craig sent me a text and said "congratulations on your Grammy nomination". I texted him back saying "oh, you've got jokes now". I thought he was talking about my new record. Then he called me saying he was serious and my jaw dropped." Well done Dennis! 9. We are London Friday 18th December @ The White House PETE GOODING ( We Love/ Space/ Renaissance) & IAN C ( We Love / Space/ Hed kandi) When you live in London you want to Live London - that cool vibe of an underground sound and international crowd. The reason WE ARE LONDON launched at Pacha in April and why the last party of the year on Friday 18TH December is dedicated to bringing the global house beats of Ibiza legend Pete Gooding and the supporting headliner of beat maker, percussionist Ian C, to the City. Select, stylish and purveyors of the full-on party action London is known and loved for, both are in the good company of previous headliners, which include Masiksoul, Oliver Lang, Daley Padley and Sound Diggers. With WE ARE LONDON’s reputation growing amongst industry and clubbers alike, the hosting of the main room at Eden Ibiza and this year’s events at Pacha highlight its commitment to bringing together an international crowd with the mixed music policy of underground and funky tech house, dirty electro and groovy techno. Not one for bland, formulaic lineups, the WE ARE LONDON promoters chose Pete Gooding for its event at The White House after listening to his set at Space on the terrace and thinking it the best set of the night. Not surprising given that he was voted Best Ibizan DJ 2002 and has played for the past 8 years at Café Mambo, providing the dancing sunset moments the island is famous for. From chill-out to cutting edge electronic music, Pete’s high-class sound has gained personal support from the world’s top DJs from Sasha to Jeff Mills and led to his playing across the globe every weekend for the past 9 years in over 55 countries. As likely to appear in a set by Laurent Garnier, Tom Middleton and Dubfire as it is by David Guetta, Pete Tong or Groove Armada, Pete Gooding’s sets are in demand from festivals like the Big Chill, Pete Tong’s Essential Mix and cheeky underground soirees in Croatia. And now with his productions including remixes for Groove Armada, Ultraviolet, Yoshitoshi and Cheryl Cole, receiving support from the underground and commercial streams alike, Pete Gooding’s class take on all things house looks to become even more popular in 2010. Second headliner for the WE ARE LONDON event and again an Ibizan gem is the slammin’ and jammin’ drummer and percussionist Ian C, invited back after his rip-roaring debut at W.A.L. launch in April. Having played across the globe in countries including China, Tokyo and South Korea for the Hed Kandi tour of Asia, Moscow, Dubai, Notting Hill Carnival, and live to the UK from Ibiza for Galaxy Radio, Ian C is best known for rocking the legendary Sunset Terrace of Space for the past two years. Supported by Roland and Boss his beats have supported DJs across the globe from old skool Carl Cox, Danny Rampling, Roger Sanchez, Erik Morrillo, Steve Lawler and Sister Bliss to current 'A' listers including, Ibiza legend DJ Alfredo, Martijn Ten Velden, Sander Kleinenberg, Chris Lake, Jon Carter, Tom Novy, and Seamus Haji. The man described as “great” by Mark Broadbent, the promoter of We Love Space, is set to add his unique take on the dance floor and, together with Pete Gooding, create a party worthy of you and all those in living, loving and rocking in London who want and expect just that little bit more. 11. About Fish Go Deep: Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson have been playing records in public since the late 1980s. Their residency at Irelands longest running and best known house club, Sweat at Sir Henrys in Cork, spanned more than a decade and influenced a generation of Irish clubbers and DJs. Over the 1990s Sweat built up a huge international reputation, being variously described as "a gorgeous blend of underground house" (i-D), a "deep house frenzy" (The Face) and "the best music on that side of the Irish Sea" (DJ Magazine). The night was one of Muzik magazine's ten best of 1998/99 and was named best regional club on three occasions at the Smirnoff Dance Club Awards. Some of the many guest DJs Greg and Shane hosted at Sweat over the years include Joe Claussell, DJ Deep, Miquel Migs, Laurent Garnier, Herbert, Derrick Carter, Glenn Underground, Jovonn and Kerri Chandler. Since finishing Sweat in November 2001, Fish Go Deeps travels have taken them to clubs across Ireland, the UK and Europe and throughout the US and Canada. Although in recent years Greg and Shane have settled back into a weekly Go Deep residency in their hometown, they still guest regularly overseas. The duos CV also includes a six-year stint on Cork's Radio Friendly, where their Saturday night show was one of the most popular on the station. Since early 2004, they have hosted the Go Deep show on Red FM and have also contributed numerous mixes to Irelands national music station, 2fm, Dublins Spin FM, Nova (Paris), FMR (Toulouse) and Planet Soul (Toronto). Greg and Shane's production work under the Fish Go Deep name has been enthusiastically received in recent years, earning praise from deejays, dancers and journalists around the globe. New Jersey's seminal i! Records have released five Fish Go Deep EPs since September 2000. Other productions have appeared on French label Brique Rouge ("superb deep house" xlr8r magazine), Chicago's Gourmet ("quality club grooves" DJ Maga-zine), New York's Chez Music ("sumptuous" Blues&Soul) and England's Inspirit Music. In recent years, Fish Go Deep tracks have been included on dozens of compilations, on labels in the US, Canada, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland, South Africa and Asia.

  23. ROBBIE RIVERA Closer To The Sun (LP) Closer to the Sun (*Single) - support inc Paul Oakenfold & Armin van Buuren. Released: 2nd Nov Label: New State Music Distribution: EMI Watch the fantastic video :- (Full Screen) Puerto Rican-born Miami resident Robbie Rivera is set to release his new artist album Closer To The Sun, after another action-packed summer of his weekly Juicy parties at Privilege in Ibiza, a hectic global tour schedule and remixing for artists including Basement Jaxx and Nelly Furtado. Featuring collaborations with the likes of Fast Eddie, Laura Vane, Moony (DB Boulevard), its progressive house music with a twisted, fucked-up attitude the Juicy style. With everyone from Paul Oakenfold toDavid Guetta clamoring after his roof-raising productions, Robbie has never been more in demand. With another huge Ibiza season under his belt, remix requests flooding in left, right and centre, another hugely successful Juicy compilation and slew of Juicy releases, and gigs at some of the worlds biggest events, 2009 has been one of his biggest years so far and this hot new album is set to be the icing on the cake. From the Killers-style uplifting synths of the title track and first single, to the cool hip-house vibes of Let Me Sip My Drink and Keep It Going, the big vocal hooks of tracks like The Rain to the instrumental beauty of Departures and the huge riffs of dancefloor killers like 6AM and the hard-hitting I Am A Badass[/b], this album is a non-stop, high-octane journey through Robbie's eclectic sound fusing trance with house rhythms, electro synths, progressive melodies and proper songwriting. As is usual with his productions, the album has found support from a huge cross-section of DJs from across the genres - and deservedly so. Its the sound of one open-minded DJ/producers globetrotting life distilled into 12 tracks of cutting-edge electronic eclecticism. A world tour to support Robbies new album begins in North America Oct 31 in his hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico where he headlines the Coliseums 10,000-capacity Halloween event. Thereafter he travels to all major US and Canadian cities, before moving into South America and more in 2010. Robbie describes the new record in his own words: 1. We Live For The Music Jerique Allen sent me an email via MySpace mentioning how much he liked my music and if I was looking for a songwriter and vocalist. Jerique mentioned he had worked with Fedde Le Grande so I checked out his MySpace site to listen to his work. I noticed he had a thick deep voice with an R&B vibe, which would go well for an uplifting house tune. One morning in Ibiza, I told him I wanted a track with a vocal that spoke about how great "music is." A day later he sent me the demo and the rest is history. I believe "We Live For The Music" will become a club anthem. 2. Closer To The Sun This song is very special to me as I produced it in Ibiza summer '08. I was in Miami in February 2009 and was inspired by sounds from the 80s and bands like The Killers. I remember getting really excited when I played the guitar melody! I think the melody and lyrics go perfect together. The original mix I did is totally different from the album version". 3. You'll Never Know When I am on tour I always have my laptop with me to view movies or to write melodies using Apple Logic express. I don't know why but I remember flying across America and was feeling a bit sentimental (it happens sometimes when you tour a lot!) I opened up Logic Express, opened a new session and selected a synth pad sound where I could play some chords. The main melody you hear on this track was originally called "The Beach" as it was very melodic and progressive. I forgot about this melody until I arrived in Ibiza. I sent it to Ned Bigham in London and asked him to get Laura Vane to produce the vocals. As soon as I heard the chorus I flipped out! It's also my wife's favorite song. 4. Your Door Another melody I wrote in a plane flying in North America. This one was a bit of a shock as it was not supposed to go on the album and it has an R&B vocal and song. After finishing and listening over & over I fell in love with the lyrics and the overall feeling. Makes you feel good. We decided to add it on the album as it made it very diverse. 5. Let Me Sip My Drink Back in April 2009 I was chilling in my home in Miami. I was checking my emails on MySpace and DJ Skip from Chicago sent me a message telling me that I should do a track with Fast Eddie. I immediately responded and produced a simple bassline groove reminiscent of early house tunes from French artists like Daft Punk, Bob Sinclar. I honestly produced the track in 30 minutes! The next day Skip & Eddie emailed me the acapella! It's such a fun song and catchy! 6. You Gotta Make It I love the string melody on this song. It makes happy and melancholic at the same time. Monica Bragato aka Moony aka DB Boulevard wrote the song and performed the vocals in Italy. The original version was tranceier but I decided to add an electric guitar and a more rock-dance arrangement. The final song is beautiful and full of emotion. 7. Keep On Going After producing "Let Me Sip My Drink" I wanted another hip house tune. Songwriter-Performer, Katie Marne from London produced two vocals in my early days and she had emailed me saying she had this great rapper. I wanted a British rapper because I have always liked the Audio Bullys and the Basement Jaxx sound. The bassline on this track is wicked and Ozmosis' performance is amazing. 8. Departures I have always been a fan of progressive house and wanted an instrumental track to listen to in the car while I am driving or chilling in my house. The track is very emotional and takes a while to build up to its climax. I titled it "Departures" because I listen to it a lot in the plane when I fly off to gig. The song makes you think and relax. It is also very sexy so I can imagine couples enjoying it in the bedroom. 9. The Rain I worked long and hard on this track. The vocals, produced by LIzzie Curious, were very dance pop so I wanted a progressive groove with an overall house sound, it was difficult but I think I got it! If you listen to the lyrics you will notice it is a great message. Lizzie Curious is from London and I think she will be getting a lot of attention in the club world soon. 10. 6AM I have always been a fan of trance melodic grooves so I wanted a track with a hard house kick-percussion arrangement but with a massive melodic breakdown. I used the V-Station synth software and I remember it took me like 4 hours to get this melody done! I tested it out at Privilege in Ibiza and got the reaction I wanted. Hands in the air! Perfect tune to play at 6am. 11. I Am A Badass Well the title says it all. I wanted my fans to remember my early banging tune days! Years ago I released a track called "Funkatron" and it was a massive worldwide club hit. The track has influenced so many DJs since it was released 7 years ago on Morillo's label, that I wanted to do something similar but with today's electro sounds. This track is very "in your face" and I have been playing it non-stop on my tours. 12. Rock The Disco The album needed a typical "Rivera electro sound" so I went into my studio in Miami, loaded up the mini Moog, Apple Logic and created this monster groove. It's an infectious hypnotic bassline that just keeps on building to a frenzy! The vocal drives you mad but it rocks on the dance floor. I can see the European DJs loving this. *Closer to the Sun (Single) Package 1 - Vandalism, Inpetto Vocal Remix and Rivera's Juicy Privilege Mix Package 2 - Joachim Garraud, Rivera's Juicy Ibiza Mix, Robbie's Bonus Mix, Amo & Navas vs. Les Schmitz, Inpetto Dub, Oscar G. 24. GRUM Single: Heartbeats Release date: 26th Oct Label: Heartbeats Remixes: Joe & Will Ask?, Worship, Weird Tapes & Stockholm Syndrome Support inc: Aeroplane, Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Peter Hook (New Order), Roger Taylor (Duran Duran), Autokratz & Streetlife DJs No.5 Cool Cuts Chart "This is the greatest song of the 21st Century and if anyone tries to tell you otherwise they are an idiot...or they're an idiot who hasn't heard it." - Peter Robinson (Pop Justice/NME) - Record of The Day (25/9/09) "He may reside in Leeds but Grum certainly ain't grim - he's super, super!" Super Super "Our hottest tip since Aeroplane first took off" - Mixmag "If Grum is what the future of electronic music sounds like, save us a spot on the dancefloor" - Nylon "Grum returns with another dancefloor destroyer" - Daily Record "The blog kids have decided that they can't wait any longer for new Mylo material, so a fresh sample and synth hero has been elected to save us from Calvin Harris overload" - Future Music 9/10 - I-DJ Following on from the almighty 'Sound Reaction' and 'Runaway', much hyped 23-year old Scotsman; Graeme Shepherd AKA Grum is back with yet another dancefloor destroyer, the almighty infectious 'Heartbeats'. Already play-listed by DJs as diverse as Rex The Dog, Aeroplane and Pendulum, 'Heartbeats' is the kind of track that Mylo's 'In My Arms' would have sounded like if he'd been raving to Justice for the past couple of years. Taking inspiration from two of Grum's favourite albums, Daft Punk's 'Discovery' and Human League's 'Dare', 'Heartbeats' coarses through the veins, causing the same sort of pulse altering reactions that only true dance classics have the ability to do. Grum explains "Heartbeats was my first attempt at a real crossover dance tune, fusing French-house, pop, and Italo disco along with a cheeky sample from an 80s legend. It's my favourite tune I've ever written, hope you like it too!". With his electrifying re-workings of songs by artists including Passion Pit, Friendly Fires and most recently Lady Gaga and David Guetta, Grum is simply the producer and remixer-du-jour for a wide range of tastemakers it surely wont be long before DJs have at least three of his productions in their sets! When not holed-up in his studio in Leeds, Grum can be seen DJing at top places around the world from Bestival to The Warehouse Project (Manchester) to Razmatazz (Barcelona), all this in between planning some pretty special elements for his live shows, and adding the finishing touches to an album, which will most definitely be one of the hottest debut records of 2010 - we can hardly wait!
