Recreation 15th March @ The Factory, Vauxhall 10pm - 6am _Main Room_ Phil Reynolds (Innovate/Frantic/Digital Creation recordings) Carl Nicholson (presence recordings) Dan Identikal (presence recordings) Ashley James (Addiction) Gordon Darley (IDJ/Puzzle Project) Tom Parr (Flashpoint recording) R. Walsh (Birthday set) Tech trance competition winner __Electro/breaks room__ vin100 (pushin plastic) Drummer Funkformer DJ 70 Si (www.downtherabbithole.co.uk) Stefan (B)rodin (Birthday set) D4rk (Frantic/squelsher/D4rK R3cords) Electro/breaks competition winner When the overground gets stale the underground reclaims and the spirit of Dance is recreated anew. For a night of solid, original music and respect for the musical journey, Recreation unfolds its first party of 2008 on 15 March at the clubbers underground venue of choice, The Factory. Crowning headliners on the night are global Hard Trance icon, Phil Reynolds (Innovate/Frantic/Digital Creation recordings), one of the originators of the hard trance sound and the original Frantic resident, who continues to DJ in countries across the world and push the sound he loves above all others, and Carl Nicholson, co-owner of Presence Recordings and a DJ and producer who’s lead and supported the underground for over a decade. Put together with the dynamic sounds of the scenes’ brightest young talents, a night of quality tech trance, psy trance, hard trance and house is guaranteed! With fresh productions being as integral to the night as the DJs, Tom Parr, who’s been clocking up releases over the past year, including two on Flashpoint Recordings, will be offering up his hardest energy to bring the night to close; Dan Identikal, producer and the second half of Presence Recordings joins his partner Carl to showcase their latest tracks as well as a FREE CD give-away during the early part of the evening; with main room DJ support being given by Addiction’s Ashley James with psy trance, the Puzzle Project’s hard dance ambassador Gordon Darley and Recreation resident R Walsh. Room Two’s music continues the party vibe with the sleazy electro disco sounds of Vin100, of Pushin Plastic infamy, DJ and producer of tracks including collaborations with Chew the Fat’s, Merka – not to be missed!! Drummer shows us his softer, though no less filthy side, with his electro house with the very busy Funkformer who’s been keeping dancefloors moving across the country and into Ibiza , DJ70, Si (www.downtherabbithole.co.uk), Stefan (B)rodin (who will also be celebrating his birthday in style - leave your presents at the door!) and D4rk (Frantic, squelsher/D4rk R3cords) all mixed together to create a shake and boom fest! True to its underground roots, Recreation is passionate about supporting those who love the music as much as they do and so, in return support, an incredible opportunity to showcase their sound over a professional sound system has been given to the winners of the tech trance and electro/breaks DJ competition – the underground at its very best! A new, top class sound system and colourful backdrops provided by Luna Décor help ensure Recreation is a night that lives up to its word and roots - no nonsense, high quality dance music progressing as a night should and, above all, the original party vibe! 9. ===== Monday 31st December NYE ===== Click here for the video flyer: http://www.platform12music.co.uk - Then Video There’s a little more to NYE than just great parties and it extends well beyond making resolutions. It’s a time when emotion runs high, when you’re more connected than ever before to your friends and family and more aware of your whole experience… in fact, with inflated ticket prices and 3 months of hype, you demand more from the whole experience. Platform 12 this NYE is drawing together not only all the elements of what makes a great party, but those that make a great NYE party. The venue, the line-up, the crowd, the production, the countdown, the whole experience is being meticulously planned by those that have delivered time and again in 2007 and boy, have they got things right for NYE! The Key, pound for pound London’s best club, the home of Platform 12 NYE last year and venue de jour with its famous under-floor lighting has entrusted it’s last ever party to Platform 12. The key, split over 2 levels and capacity around 1000 comes complete with chandeliers, guild-edged mirrors and a truly thumping soundsystem that will ensure those warm fuzzy moments on the dancefloor. The Platform 12 production team will be pulling out all the stops too, with the venue themed throughout and all Platform 12 staff in the guise of Platform Patrol. Providing the best possible experience also includes making that midnight moment as special as possible. Last year, much-loved producer Hook N Sling made a special NYE ‘track’ that included a 30 seconds countdown a la sci-fi movie self destruct sequence, followed by fireworks and the synth line from Insomnia before getting back to the drums. They’re not giving too much away this year but you can bet they’ll have you feeling the barmans stars up once again. 00:00 00:02 Musically, Platform 12 has emerged from the breakbeat underground to be known as one of the best genre-blurring electro discos around and this NYE they are pulling together their biggest line-up to date. Hybrid Hybrid, global superstars, Sasha cohort and synonymous with headlining massive events worldwide, will be making their long awaited Platform 12 debut and what a time to do it. If ever there was a dance act that conjured up the very feeling of heightened emotion it would be Hybrid, so how very fitting they’ll be down to play at Platform 12 on NYE. Cicada Joining Hybrid will be Cicada, where musically, references have been made to the likes of Blondie, Can, New Order, The Sugarcubes, The Cocteau Twins, Daft Punk and Quincy Jones, and have previously rocked Platform 12 where they played live back in May. Cicada are a truly unique proposition, melding their influences into a wholly original sound has made them a unique prospect for the late noughties – the kind of band that the rock kids ‘get’ just as much as club kids do. The Rogue Element The Rogue Element, winner of Breakspoll’s best breakthrough producer in 2005 then best producer & best remixer in 2006, has gone on to have a series of club smashes including Fat Boy Slim’s Star 69 remix and has remixed just about everyone from The Crystal Method to Krafty Kuts. Simply put, there is no more exciting talent emerging from breaks than The Rogue Element and you can be sure that he’ll be showcasing all the new material from his highly anticipated 2nd album. Alex Metric Size matters, and by any standard of measurement, Alex Metric's talent is large, as made clear by the release of his new artist e.p. Whatshewants. At just 26 years of age, Marine Parade's newest signing has made a big splash as both DJ and producer. He's played gigs spanning the globe from Fabric in London to Eastern European festivals to Los Angeles clubs, and developed a significant rep for his work in the studio assisting superstars ranging from Darren Emerson to Adam Freeland - producing his next album. Spin Out Records Supporting this illustrious quintet will be DJs from Spin Out Records, Platform 12’s favourite label of 2007, Alex Collings, resident DJ at the fast-gaining-recognition Dirtbox event at Turnmills and Platform 12 resident DJs Reveal, Clay Hey, Microlovr, Fava Faaade and Euan McGrath. All in all, they’re putting together the kind of event that not alone befits the occasion of Platform 12 NYE but perhaps, more fittingly, the end of an era for London clubbing, with the last ever party @ The key. With a knowing attention to detail for musical programming, décor, lighting and attracting the kind of crowd that makes any event special, Platform 12 NYE really is the hottest ticket in town. The Key, King’s Cross 9pm - 6am £20 early bird / £30 advance Hybrid The Rogue Element Cicada Alex Metric Spin Out Records (Si McEvoy) Microlovr Alex Collings Reveal & Clay Hey Fava Faaade Euan McGrath Tickets: http://www.platform12music.co.uk/ Ticketweb / 07917 755 264 Entry policy/dress code: Fix up, look sharp - Platform 12 is a party. Drawing inspiration from his experiences as a concert musician and a Masters degree in music, Alex cleverly mixes up a variety of styles ranging from Underground House through to funk, electro and techno. Always at the cutting-edge of new music, his intelligently crafted sets are guaranteed to be as exciting and innovative, as they are seamless… Having started mixing just under 5 years ago, Alex was playing main room sets within 6 months. Now, an extremely experienced and versatile DJ and part of the Brique Rouge team of DJs alongside David Duriez, Audio Soul Project, Mike Monday, Hardfloor and Thugfucker (live),[/b] he is being seen alongside many of the scenes high-flyers and is gaining more and more sets at top London venues including The T Bar, SE1, Turnmills, Pacha and The End. As if that wasn’t enough, Alex’s experience in the studio is second-to-none. A fully qualified sound engineer and talented producer, his recent credits under both his own name and the Agent Toga guise (when joining minds with Australian DJ Trent Anthony) are receiving praise from house and techno legends Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Tiga, Phonique, Ralph Lawson and David Duriez naming just a few. They include: as well as various soundtracks for national Television, remixes for Brique Rouge, fragile and Fresh Meat, and a number of EPs released on Brique Rouge and Gourmet, with his collaboration with Tommy Four Seven, Chocolate Makes Your Clothes Shrink gaining Radio 1 airplay from Fergie and being included on the Only For DJs compilation vol. 2 in France. There is little doubt that 2007 is a big year for Alex. Easily the most versatile, innovative and exciting DJ and producer around, he is without doubt the brightest rising star of the underground house scene. 12. Saturday 10th November The Key, King’s Cross 10pm-6am £8 advance & members, £12 on the door Pre party at The Driver, King’s Cross Platform 12 was started a few years ago by some bloke called Clive Morley, a party chaser chancer who used to keep all the drinks tokens and headline his own events. A few years on and things are a bit different… Platform 12 is widely regarded as one of the best genre-blurring electro discos in town, with a who’s who of guest DJs and a crowd that’s regarded as one of the best around. Clive’s still hogs the drinks tokens though, so not everything’s changed, and Saturday 10th November will be no different as Clive bids his Platform 12 farewell. After 4 years in charge, Clive’s moving on to the golden shores of Sydney, domestic bliss and a suntan (maybe). It’s going to be one last hurrah, a grand finale, a final blowout and more than likely, one hell of a party. Joining Clive, will be current uber-hot DJ/producer, Hervé (or otherwise known as The Count of Monte Cristal). A firm Favourite with Annie Mac, Switch and many a trendy Modular DJ, Herve has taken the UK club scene by storm with remixes of My New Young Pony Club, Chemical Brothers, Princess Superstar and Trevor Loveys. To top it off, Bass Kleph & Nick Thayer are flying in from Oz to provide the funky breaks while 2 Phunked Up will keep it housey and pumpin til 6am. 14. 3 BEAT CELEBRATE 18 YEARS WITH “BACK TO THE OLD ‘POOL” PARTY Influential Liverpool record shop 3 Beat, become one of clubland’s longest running brands in November when they reach their 18th year. To celebrate this fact, on Saturday November 10th, the 3 Beat team are putting on a very special party at the Carling Academy in Liverpool, that will reflect the history and legacy of the 3 Beat name. The party is called “Back To The Old ‘Pool” and flying to Liverpool to headline is the godfather of house, Marshall Jefferson with a PA from house legend, Ce Ce Rogers. In 1989, the UK was succumbing to the sounds of house music; from Chicago, Italy and New York, it was the sound of a new generation. However, there were few places you could buy it until 3 Beat opened its doors in Liverpool. All the big name DJs, Pete Tong, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules and more, shopped there religiously via their world famous mail order service. The business rapidly boomed, leading to the birth of the 3 Beat record label and the now legendary G-Love club night (set up with scouse legend John Kelly), which was voted Mixmag’s ‘Club of the Year’ in 1991. Now “Back To The Old ‘Pool” will turn back the clock and let us hear the tunes that built the foundations of the global house music scene once again. When you talk of the foundations of house music there is one name that rises to the top, Chicago DJ and producer Marshall Jefferson. In 1986 he played piano on a house music record for the first time ever and in 1987 he produced the first ‘acid house’ record, launching the career of DJ Pierre. He went on to launch and influence the careers of Ten City, Kym Mazelle, Ce Ce Rogers, Frankie Knuckles, Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, Felix Da Housecat and more. In the history of house, all roads lead back to Marshall Jefferson; there’s no name better to help celebrate the unique history of 3 Beat. Alongside Marshall Jefferson is Ce Ce Rogers, another legendary name performing two of his best loved tracks ‘Someday’ (rated no.3 in Mixmag’s ‘100 Greatest Records Of All Time’) and ‘All Join Hands’. This is a rare treat to see this great vocalist performing tracks which hold a special place in the evolution of 3 Beat (and house music!) Other DJs have been integral in the success of 3 Beat since the beginning and have played major roles in developing the house music scene in Liverpool and beyond. “Back To The Old ‘Pool” will also see them rocking the dancefloor at the Carling Academy. DJs’s such as Steve Proctor, a regular DJ at Danny Rampling’s groundbreaking Shoom parties; Andy Carroll and Mike Knowler, the first DJs to play regular acid house at James Barton’s pioneering late ‘80’s Liverpool club night, Daisy and who went on to transform Quadrant Park in Bootle into the first superclub; DJ Pluto, one of the most respected G-Love regular DJs; Pezz, manager of the 3 Beat record shop and accomplished DJ as part of the D.I.Y. crew; Steve Parry, another of the 3 Beat team listing the seminal Shelly’s in 1991 on his DJ CV; and local DJ/promoter Ian Kenyon the man behind the hugely popular classics nights Quad Reunions and Daisy Revisited. With all this history and a line up second to none, when 3 Beat decides to take you “Back To The Old Pool” it should do exactly what it says on the tin… Back To The Old ‘Pool, Sat 10th November Carling Academy Liverpool, 11-13 Hotham Street, Liverpool, L3 5UF LINE UP: Marshall Jefferson / Steve Proctor / Andy Carroll / Mike Knowler / DJ Pluto / Pezz / Steve Parry / Cutter / Miss SaySay / Ian Kenyon / Thomas Tuft + PA from Ce Ce Rogers 10pm-4am / £12.50 + BF http://www.ticketweb.co.uk For all media enquiries please contact: James Hamilton @ Sliding Doors Publicity E: [email protected] T: 020 8582 0404 / 07957 690 652 WHAT THOSE IN THE KNOW HAVE TO SAY ABOUT 3 BEAT…. "One of the finest record stores in the UK, it's a bit of an institution, still going from strength to strength" Pete Tong "Those bloody scousers! I don't know what I'd have done without them. A consistent source of quality music for 18 years. Happy birthday 3 Beat." Dave Seaman "...your stuff is simply essential for me, as I still play loads of vinyls! Thanx 4 the great service and happy B’Day!" Timo Maas “I remember 3 beat records when it just a group of mates who had a passion for great music – nice to see that some things never change! Happy Birthday!” James Barton “3beat is the Deathrow Records of dance music retailers, 18 years straight....Suge Knight eat ya heart out :-)” Micky Slim “Back in the day when I used to buy vinyl, Liverpool would be the place I’d travel just to go check out 3 beat! Now I still go there – just virtually via cyberspace! Happy birthday guys!” D Ramirez “Well done to 3 Beat records for 18 years of bootlegs, track suits, curly wigs and shoddy service in the music industry why do I still deal with them?” Jon Digweed "18? I remember when I was 18. It was all about sex. Just like the boys who work at 3 Beat. Only not as meaningful. Obviously." Graeme Park "Happy Birthday you old tarts, thanks for supplying the world with the best music in town, and the town with the best music in the world" Andy Moor "3 Beat, top place staffed by some of the friendliest, nicest people in the business. Packed to the rafters with boat loads of cool house music" Barry Gilbey "there is no other" Alex K "3beat is and has been a leader for upfront dance music since I started buying records 18 years ago. The proof is in their success rate year in and year out." Chris Fortier "3Beat records & 3Beat Digital have the full Koma & Bones seal of approval! Good service, good laugh and great tunes” Koma & Bones “3 beat were the first shop I would turn to whenever I needed that little gem for a set. Great service. Here's to the next 18 years ;)” Chris Lake “Happy 18th. Top shop, top staff, top of the pile!!!” Stuart Knight (Toolroom Records) "Congrats to Rob, Steve and all at Liverpool's finest and hope that you all keep doing your thing for another 18!" Dubfire “Carlsberg don't do dance music emporiums, but if they did, it would probably be called 3 BEAT!” Streetlife DJs “Congrat's on 18th Birthday guy's....you are the only record shop worth visiting, that knows what they are talking about and with customer service that makes you want to keep coming back...keep them tracks coming from under the counter Thomas and roll on the next 18 years!” Alan Hartley (Twisted Elegance) “Anyone who has been involved in dance music knows how important 3 Beat has been to the scenes development and it is testament to their ability to set the pace and stay ahead of game that the shop is as relevant today as it ever has been over the last 18 years.” Amato Distribution “The best credit and most patient staff in the world... Oh and they sell great records too.” Dave Gardner “Very few record shops can claim to have been there from the start, and still be there today. 3 beat has had successful labels, DJs and a very consistent shop for many years. Fair play to them all and long live the scousers. Great football, good tunes , dodgy kebabs and even dodgier birds. We salute you Liverpool and 3beat. ps thats the reds not the blues” Rowan Blades “To all the big dawgs at 3 beat records, big up’s!!!” Max C (Axwell Vocalist for ‘I Found U’) "3 Beat has helped me so much over the years , made some good mates over there as well. Here's to another 18 years” Neil Evans (Nascent Recordings) “I have been buying records and worked with 3 beat the last 6 years, and it has always been great service and good upfront music in different genres of music.” Nils Noa “At some point everyone in the scene will have come across 3Beat - undoubtedly an institution in the UK & worldwide dance industry mostly due to their quality, consistency and enthusiasm.” James @ Twisted Frequency ’18 already… that’s what you say. Let me see your driving license luv…’ Cass “3Beat...congratulations and all the best. Without you guys, our little label, Quark Records would have remained just that, a little US based label. Much success for the next 18 years!” Curtis Urbina, Quark Records “Gotta say happy Birthday to 3 Beat… 18 Years??? Jesus how old are the staff then? Thomas isn’t even fully grown yet!!!” Mark (Peppermint Jam) “One of the most well know & influential brands in UK dance business of the last 18th years. Keep up all the great work & keep pushing boundaries. Good to see 3Beat still leading the way at 18! Quality shines through! Happy B’day!” Joel Xavier (Head of A&R Seamless/bargrooves/Whoop/Kinky Vinyl) “3 Beat are always on the look out for quality, ‘great tunes’ is their middle name. It makes us work harder as these boys require the best, thank 3 Beat for standards.” Futureproof "Congratulations for the this anniversary! Awesome record store and label I been digging since I started DJ’ing. Thanx a lot for the xclusive promos too :)) all the best xx" Ricky Ryan "The shop has remained relevant all these years, whatever the constant shift in trends have changed, 3 Beat and it's staff have always been on the ball and supplied it's customers with the most up to date music of the time, and across a broad range of electronic genres….Great shop, great staff....plus I bought my first ever twelve from 3 Beat!" Leigh Morgan (Urbantorque Recordings) “3 beat were instrumental in the success of the Bassheads and they always sold more copies of my early tracks than any other UK shop.” Desa (Bassheads) "The 3 Beat guys have great taste in music ... but just as importantly they are rock solid on the business side and are always a pleasure to work with." Jondi & Spesh (Loöq Records)

 17. ALEX GOLD AND XTRAVAGANZA HIT NEW HEIGHTS AT SPACE IBIZA! Just 5 weeks after opening at its new home in the main room at Space in Ibiza, Alex Gold's Xtravaganza is once again exploding into life for the summer season! Last Thursday 2nd August, huge crowds of Europe?s glitterati and clubbing elite rammed into the main room at Space to hear the pulsating, electronic layered mixing of Balearic mainstay, Alex Gold. Alex Gold and the Xtravaganza parties have long been an essential part of any clubbing holiday to Ibiza. After a 3 year enforced absence due to a near fatal paragliding accident, Alex Gold made a triumphant return to the island in 2006, making [/b]Xtravaganza parties the most talked about Thursday night on the island.[/b] As a result, Alex and Xtravaganza have now taken up residency at Space, the world's number one club, in the main room on Thursday nights, and Alex is celebrating another successful return to Ibiza in 2007. Yet again, Xtravaganza has established itself as the party where Europe's most stylish party people come to let their hair down and lose themselves in the best electronic grooves that Ibiza has to offer. Alex Gold comments... The main room of space is simply awesome when it's going. Technically, it has to be one of the best club environments in the world and the ambience lends itself perfectly to my style of playing. It looks like it's going to be another great summer at Xtravaganza this season!? Despite retaining an exclusive atmosphere at the parties, word is out once again about Alex Gold and Xtravaganza. The crowds of the cool and the colourful are lining up waiting for the next instalment. Alex Gold will play an exclusive 3 hour set every Thursday night in the main room of Space in Ibiza. The next party on 9th August celebrates the Italian influence in Ibiza with Alex ably supported by Frank O'Moiraghi, and the theme continues on 16th August with Italian favourite Francesco Farfa. Expect more chunky electronica and cutting edge party music. 2007 is the year the chic and elite gather to get down to the cosmopolitan sounds of XTRAVAGANZA! x-trav-a-gan-za (n) "A fanciful musical entertainment" http://www.myspace.com/alexgoldmusic For all press enquiries please contact: James Hamilton @ Sliding Doors Publicity. t. 020 8582 0404 / m. 07957 690 652 / e. 19. ALBUM: ES VIVE IBIZA 2007 RELEASED: July 16th 2007 LABEL: FIERCE ANGEL RECORDS The hottest mix from the coolest address in Ibiza The sun beats down from a cloudless sky. A bikini-clad honey laughs as she gets up to dance on a sun lounger. You feel the ice melting slowly in your cocktail as the Fierce Angel DJ mixes in another track, as full of sunshine and smiles as the people dancing poolside at the Es Vive Hotel , Ibiza… Es Vive hotel is more than somewhere to sleep, it’s a vibrant destination in itself, a place with real character and atmosphere of its own. Fierce Angel are celebrating another year of hosting parties at their Balearic base – every Saturday at Es Vive and every Friday at the hotel’s sister venue, the Base Bar in Ibiza Town, with this incredible three mix package. The first CD is made for lounging poolside at Es Vive and drips with disco and delicious deep house, with a generous dash of that all-important island magic. Featuring laid back vocals on tracks like Black Magic’s classic ‘Freedom (make it funky)’ and the Freemasons’ mix of 'Disco Freaks’ glorious summer tune which just screams Ibiza: ‘Take Me 2 The Sun’. Finishing with a huge exclusive, the brilliant re-work of ‘I Can’t Wait’ by Kurtis Mantronix feat. Marie Smith – a record which makes you want to book that flight! The second CD is typical of a night in the bustling Base Bar – full on funky house and club anthems including Fierce Angel favourite, Peyton with ‘Celebrate’, Eighteen’s ‘Putting A Rush On Me’ and the very special, turbo-charged remix of ‘Better Days’ from Fabrique. Finally, CD three boasts a fine selection from the island’s best kept secret, Electric Caberet, the amazing venue inside Es Vive. Launching with deep, dark vocals and moving into twisted electro house with the Boris Dluglosh mix of The Migrants ‘I Thought That’ and coming to a fitting climax with Faithless and the Axwell remix of ‘Music Matters’. Ibiza is still the clubbers’ paradise, the dream factory and the stuff of magical memories. Fierce Angel’s Mark Doyle lives and breathes the spirit of Ibiza – and that’s why the Es Vive Ibiza 2007 collection, compiled by him, is the best you’ll hear all summer. Over the Years Pete Gooding has become an Ibizan institution because of those very special nightly sunset journeys, which has led to him compiling the award winning Café Mambo compilations for five years. Throughout each summer he has written his own column in DJ Magazine's monthly Ibiza supplement in addition to continuing as singles reviewer for the magazine. Pete's started Dj'ing in his home town of Birmingham, where he combined running his own record shop "Vinyl Matters" for over three years and promoting his own night for eight years with partner Phil Docherty of Futureshock. He then went on to hold residencies at the cities best clubs and bars. In 1996 he joined good friend Steve Lawler as resident DJ at Cafe Mambo. Pete's career has not been limited to the White Isle, on his return at the end of each summer, Pete forfeits his right to a well earned rest by playing the length and breadth of the U.K. and also tirelessly touring further a field, playing in over twenty five countries worldwide. .......
