Playing host to dozens of legendary DJs from around the world, the club was instrumental in popularizing international styles of house and trance music within the United States. Twilo regularly featured prominent American and European Dj's playing trance, techno, and house music. Sasha and John Digweed had a monthly residency at the club, playing the last Friday of every month. Early in 2001 after Sasha suffered an ear injury in a car accident and was unable to Dj, John Digweed would play the entire 8 hour time slot by himself. Other Dj's would play frequently such as Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox, Robert Fauver, Richie Hawtin, Danny Tenaglia, Merritt, Jeff Mills, Dj Dan, and Sven Väth. Many of these artists made appearances at Twilo before hitting the mainstream. Twilo goes back to basics and houses, keeping Chicago's "underground" club scene alive. The Dj's on the night use everything from used analogue synthesizers and sequencers to create and arrange the electronic elements and samples on their tracks, combining live traditional instruments and percussion and soulful vocals with pre-programmed electronic synthesizers and "beat-boxes", to modern CDJ turntables and Ableton Live technology to bring about a unique sound not being played in other UK clubs. Twilo comes to London and encapsulates New York, Chicago and Detroit's truly cosmopolitan feel with a distinct attitude and vibe of the underground. Get ready to lose yourself and your inhibitions...Welcome to Twilo.... 15. POISONED REPUBLIC 22.11.08 @ SCALA After a long wait for all The Poison and Republic Artists return with our biggest collaboration to date. On the 22nd of November we will be taking over one the most famous clubs in London “The Scala”. This event will be a double birthday bash, it’s the 3rd birthday for The Poison and it’s Republic Artists 1st Birthday. To honor the occasion we have dubbed the night “POISONED REPUBLIC”. We also welcome the return of E-Club TV who will be filming the night and broadcasting it later in the year. Republic Artists have had a wild 12 months since their opening party just before Christmas last year. Not only have they revisited Factory for their summer party, they've made waves on the Thames with their rocking boat party in May, sold out club Hidden, ruined many Monday’s with their Sunday Shift parties in Camden, DJ'd to mad Ceskys and tourists in Plzen and Prague on their European tour, and spread their Keep Clubland Alive message in the best place on Earth: IBIZA! Where they played for Cream @ Amnesia. The Poison 3 years have been equally spectacular , being involved in last year’s closing parties in Ibiza, constantly filling clubs like Hidden, Mass, and the Colosseum in London, and recently playing the main room at Ministry of Sound with Italian techno legend Mauro Picotto. And like most parties with a 3 and 1 year old, it will be messy! Expect mayhem, hyperactivity, and lots and lots of fun. No presents (though there may be some unwrapping), just your presence is all that's required. On the night we will be show casing over thirty DJs, made up of Poison residents and Republic residents plus some guest DJs. Playing House, Electro, Minimal Techno, Tech House, Hard Dance, Trance and Progressive over 4 rooms. Some of the DJs on the night include WE R 1(Poison), CHRIS SADLER , TOMASUCHY, JUSTIN TIME, FUNKY PAUL, ANDRE DETOXX, STEFAN RO, WAYNE C, X-RAY B2B DEVIL 666, SYGNITY, HOOVAGROOVA, Plus many more to be announced at a later date. 2000 people will stomp the night away to a mind blowing light and visuals show. Guaranteed that you have an out of the world experience in our Poisoned Republic… As well as a live drum show with our Residents WE R 1 and a live guitar show with one of our hard dance thumpers X-RAY. For a little touch a class we are going to have some very sexy dancers to keep you moving on the dancefloor all night long. With all these fantastic ingredients thrown into one big cauldron, there is only one thing that can be cooked up and that is one hell of a party to remember for many years to come. So come and help celebrate the only way we know how “balls to the wall”. See you at the front of the floor. Be sure to take advantage of our early bird tickets for only a tenner. It’s an absolute steal, definitely not going to burn a hole in your sky rocket (pocket ;-p) Republic Artists and the Poison....Keeping Clubland Alive.....year in, year out!
