While attending a recent conference in NYC, Desh explained that he prides himself on constantly finding ways to reinvent his brand and when it comes to Swizz he believes that his colleague is severely lacking in that area. While attending the All American Music Conference at Webster Hall this past Saturday (August 4), Bangladesh told XXL that the secret to his success is always finding routes to reinvention. He said he believes this is what sets him apart from most producers in game, especially Swizz Beatz. “I don’t think Swizz is relevant,” Bangladesh told XXL. “I’m keeping it 100. For his latest video, Aris creates a fan-video for Frank Ocean’s “Lost” from the Odd Future singer/songwriter’s major label debut Channel Orange. By Rob Markman Without the perfect beat, even rap’s most gifted storytellers can fall by the wayside, but Grammy-nominated board beast Hit-Boy doesn’t have that problem. Like his G.O.O.D. Music mentor Kanye West, Hit-Boy earned his stripes as a producer before revealing to the world his passion for rap. A passion that resulted in his debut mixtape HITstory, which the California native released today as a free Internet download on his House of Hit Website. The comparisons to Yeezy are inevitable, but on the mixtape opening title track Hit begins to paint pictures of his own life with eye-popping brush strokes. “I knew what I wanted before I had it, but I always had it I was an addict/ And this room is feelin’ just like an attic, making 10 beats a day and going at it,” he spits over an eerie beat build marked by sharp violin stabs and calming child-like wails. On “HITstory” the “N---as in Paris” producer weaves a narrative of disappointment and heartbreak dealing with a pregnant girlfriend, a crumbling crew and his diminishing rap dreams. Then suddenly things changed. “God damn I was just home, now I’m #3 on The Throne/ I had so many emotions, that I had to make it into a song,” he spits. In June Hit-Boy released his introductory rap single (and video) “Jay-Z Interview,” a wordy proclamation of his versatility in the studio. “I play my own drums and basslines, you know homey,” he brags. He also holds his own on the mic. On “Option” Hit spits alongside his G.O.O.D. Music label mate Big Sean employing an impressive double-time flow, then on “Old School Caddy” he recruits Kid Cudi to ride on the funky car ode. “Busta A-- N---as” is much more menacing with its thumping bass drop and murderous bars from Chip Tha Ripper and Bun B. Hit gets conceptual on “East vs. West” where he imagines the last days of both the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur and takes it to the strip club on “Fan.” As good as Hit-Boy’s first attempt is HITstory is only the opening chapter for an MC who has the potential to be a celebrated MC. Before he ends the tape with the introspective “Running in Place” Hit leaves listeners with a bit of advice in the form of a lyric: “If you gotta dream, dream big/ And if you gonna live, live right, ’cause we never get the chance to do it twice.” And the story continues. But we'd love to see Cohen take on the suave James Bond spy and maybe have someone who typically plays straight comedic roles be the "moronic" brother. Apparently Cohen's participation in the film, which is currently untitled, is dependent on his "availability and scheduling." Now that he's out of "Django Unchained" and "Les Miserables" is wrapped, hopefully that means he's available. For those of you who aren't too familiar with Johnson, he's made quite a name for himself over the past two years. Johnson had his big break with 2011's "Cedar Rapids," and also wrote Disney's upcoming ode to video games, "Wreck-It Ralph." But Johnson also has a hand for drama, as he penned Alexander Payne's next project, "Nebraska." So, there's the answer then. This past weekend Kanye West hit PH-D night club in NYC and surprised the crowd by hooking up his laptop to the speakers and playing a few unheard tracks from the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer. One of them, titled "Perfect Bitch," was speculated to be about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian, and Mr. West confirmed that today. With his usual one sentence tweet, Kanye simply wrote, "I wrote the song Perfect Bitch about Kim," putting all doubt to rest. According to club goers, the song tells the tale of Kanye's search for the perfect woman, which has ended thanks to his relationship with Kim Kardashian. Kimye has been joined at the hip for the past few weeks, being spotted together everywhere from Cannes to Dash store openings in LA, and Kanye even made his debut on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" this season. By Miranda Johnson Just one day after showing off her softer side by apologizing to former foe Kreayshawn, Azealia Banks is now back at it, with Jim Jones as her target. The quick-tempered rapper let loose on Jimmy via Twitter, in a heated exchange over "Vamp," which she claims Jim Jones did not originate. On Monday (August 6) the two Harlem rappers went at it once Azealia tried to claim that she used the word “vamp” prior to Jimmy’s Vampire Life movement and mixtape. Azealia first tweeted "VAMP: a very sexually/financially powerful woman who is usually characterized by a penchant for dark things; nighttime, witchcraft, .. Etc.”, possibly referring to a title of a new track she’s working on? The tweet then caused a fan to jump in making Banks aware that “vampin” is Jim Jones’ thing. After reading the tweets, Jim innocently jumped in responding “@Rahim_TheDream @AZEALIABANKS tht vamplife is contagious." However, not one to take things lightly, the “212” rapper fired back writing, “@jimjonescapo yea I know! I wrote 212 in 2011 before ur song tho. That vamp sh-- is some fashion stuff as well.
