2. By Jocelyn Vena Well this should come as no surprise. Forbes has revealed that Jay-Z and Beyonce are the world's highest paid celebrity couple. The music moguls rose to the top of the ranks after getting beat out by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen back in 2011. This year, despite Beyoncé's seemingly lower profile in the music world, she still managed to rack in $40 million thanks to her many ventures in and out of music, including her 2011 album 4. As for Hova, well, Forbes notes he brought in slightly less with an income of $38 million thanks to his Watch the Throne album and tour with Kanye West, as well as his own enterprises outside of music. While their combined $78 million makes them the couple to beat, last year's #1 couple Gisele and Tom are following close at #2 with $72 million in a combined salary. They've earned their keep on the list through modeling gigs (for both partners) and his contract with the Patriots, which runs through 2014. What other power couples made the list? Well, Posh Spice Victoria Beckham and her Los Angeles Galaxy soccer-playing hubby, David Beckham, come in at #3, but are more than $20 million behind in salary. But don't feel too bad for them: They raked in a combined $54 million through endorsement deals, clothing lines and royalties. The Forbes list is compiled using data taken between May 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012. In that time, the #4 couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, walked away with a combined $45 million. They earned their money as actors in both big- and small-budget films, and through modeling gigs like Jolie's with Louis Vuitton. The final couple in the top 5 is Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Their $40 million was made thanks to investments, endorsements and bankable roles in films like "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" and "Men In Black 3." 3. Most releases don't come with a disclaimer, but at least Lupe can say he tried to warn us. The Chicago rapper is getting ready to drop his new single "Lamborghini Angels" from his upcoming LP Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, but before that he wanted to make it clear--this won't be for the faint of heart. "Warning: if you are easily offended or religiously sensitive DO NOT listen to Lamborghini Angels. Contains very disturbing content," Lupe wrote on Twitter Tuesday (August 7) after confirming that the song will debut on August 12. "Listener discretion is thoroughly advised." Lupe is no stranger to controversy. The first single from his 2011 album Lasers was the Skylar Grey-assisted "Words I Never Said," which ruffled a few feathers with politically-charged statements like, "Gaza strip was getting bombed/ Obama didn’t say s---/ That’s why I ain’t vote for him/ next one either," but he stood by it. Not one to shy away from hot button issues, it's sure to be an interesting track. During his recent visit to "RapFix Live" Lupe broke down while watching footage of his old Chicago neighborhood, telling host Sway Calloway that he saw "ghosts" in the video. Fans were touched by the moment and shared their support for Lupe on Twitter and in comments. 5. By Ryan Gowland This year will see Gerard Butler go from playing a surfer in "Chasing Mavericks" to a retired soccer player in "Playing For Keeps" (formerly "Playing the Field"), continuing his penchant for playing flawed heroes. In the dramedy directed by Gabriele Muccino ("Seven Pounds," "The Pursuit of Happyness"), Butler plays George Dryer, once a soccer pro who played for a team wearing Celtic-esque uniforms (not coincidentally, Glasgow's Celtic F.C. is Butler's favorite team) and ruined his marriage to Stacie (Jessica Biel) with his playboy antics. Check out the trailer after the jump! Bankrupt and wondering what to do next with his life and career, George begins his tour of redemption by moving to Virginia to coach his son's soccer team, while trying to mend his fences with his Stacie, who is already on her way to marrying again. Enter Catherine Zeta-Jones as Denise, a former sportscaster who puts George in position to be a commentator with ESPN, which would impact his new found relationship with his son and the ever-burning flame of his former marriage to Stacie. Who said it was easy being famous and handsome? FilmDistrict picked up the distribution rights to "Playing For Keeps" during the Cannes Film Festival, and has finally released the first trailer. Like a lot of romantic dramedies about soccer pros, the trailer shows pretty much the entire movie, but with a supporting cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Uma Thurman and Judy Greer, we're pretty sure that won't stop anyone from seeing it when it opens this winter. "Playing For Keeps" opens December 7th. What did you think of the trailer? 6. Thank you, Jason Bateman, for being our inside look into the set of "Arrested Development." The star of the series has been keeping us up to date on the status of the show, even tweeting pictures of the half-completed sets last week. Now he has surpassed himself. With the fourth season of "Arrested Development" starting to film yesterday, Bateman posted an image to confirm to fans that everything was going smoothly. "First day. Away we go..." he tweeted. As you can see above, the image shows the counter at an airport check-in location. And though they may be hard to pick out, the scene also includes "Workahloics" stars Anders Holm and Adam DeVine as two men manning the counter. So what could Michael be doing there? And how does this work in the realm of the story? Considering we know the title of the first episode of "Arrested Development's" fourth season is called "Michael," it seems safe to assume that it will catch us up on Michael Bluth's life. It wouldn't surprise us to find out that Michael had taken on an honest job at an airport now that he's away from his conniving family, though we have a feeling something will soon happens that draws Michael back into the Bluth fold. Those images Bateman previously tweeted of the model home and Lucille Bluth's apartment weren't created for the fun of it, after all. Are you glad "Arrested Development" is filming again? 7. Yesterday Kanye West made one of his brief announcements on Twitter, revealing the obvious truth about his new G.O.O.D Music track "Perfect Bitch"--that it was written about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian. The tweet was simple "I wrote the song Perfect Bitch about Kim," and word is that Kim is delighted about the track. According to TMZ, Kardashian has told friends "I'm honored. I love it," while making sure to add, "I know he doesn't mean it in a negative way when he says the word 'bitch.'" And the message really meant a lot to her. "The song talks about how he was with so many other girls but could never find the right one until he met me," she reportedly said. Two peas in a pod. Kanye gave the public a first listen of the unreleased track when he hooked up his laptop to the speakers at a NYC night club on Friday night and played a few songs. Kimye has been joined at the hip for the past few weeks, being spotted together everywhere from Cannes to Dash store openings in LA, and Kanye even made his debut on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" this season. Last week 'Ye shared this photo of Kim's rear end and a Lamborghini, with the caption "Mercy." 9. When it comes to big-budget summer tent poles, you can't just make a movie anymore. You have to protect it from spies, leaks, and spoilers. For "The Bourne Legacy," writer-director Tony Gilroy couldn't just hand out pages of the script for actors to audition; the secrets could get out. As he told MTV News, he had to write pages upon pages of a fake screenplay to keep his actual scenes close to the vest. [ video unavailable on this device ] "You go through your whole [career] as a writer, and all you want is for people to read your script. 'Please read my script, please read my script!' " Gilroy said. "And then I end up on this movie after 30 years, and no one is allowed to read the script. It's in a safe that the department heads have to come and check out. It's really crazy." That level of secrecy is what led to the fake screenplay for auditions. "The weirdest thing, I had to write fake scenes for actors to audition," Gilroy said. "I ended up almost having to write a parallel script, much more than I ever thought, lots of different scenes, so we could have people come in and audition and not blow the movie. That's another new odd facet of mega-moviemaking." None of this should be new for star Jeremy Renner. He's had his fair share of secret-keeping on projects like "The Avengers." As it turns out, keeping the "Bourne" secrets ended up being an easier time. " 'The Avengers' was pretty intense. This one was small in a lot of ways," Renner said, comparing his two big movies this year. "We were in a studio here [in Los Angeles] and out in the middle of nowhere, out in the Rockies. It wasn't until we were shooting in Manila and surrounded by thousands and thousands of people being spectators that you had to be protective, but not nearly as much as with 'Avengers.' I guess it was more so the script and trying to keep that under wraps and protect the franchise." Do you plan on seeing "The Bourne Legacy"? 11. The 48 frames per-second revolution has been postponed. A new report from Variety claims that Warner Bros. has chosen a limited release for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" at the higher frame rate. What was once supposed to change the movie-going experience has effectively been relegated to a test run. The trade reported, "According to source familiar with Warner's release plans for Peter Jackson's first 'Hobbit,' the HFR version will go out to only select locations, perhaps not even into all major cities." Learn more after the jump! This is surely bad news for director Peter Jackson, who has championed the technology since deciding to film his now three-part fantasy saga in the format. After a preview screening at CinemaCon earlier this year, scathing reports about the image quality spread quickly across the web, and theater owners were supposedly equally underwhelmed. Some who have seen footage projected at 48 fps more recently have claimed the post-production polish has improved the experience, but that hasn't stopped WB from continuing with the limited release. The new report says that depending on how the first "Hobbit" performs may determine whether a wider release will happen at later date and how the studio proceeds for the final two films. It comes down to more than the image, however. Variety reports that no theaters are currently equipped to present the film in at higher frame rate. The theater owner, who have just spent large sums of money upgrading to 3-D, would have to shell out even more dough for new software and even new projectors in some cases. The Megaupload founder described how he heard stones being kicked up onto his bedroom window by helicopters, later revealed to be carrying officers from the Special Tactics Group, New Zealand’s elite anti-terror force. This overwhelming display of force, detailed in our earlier article, only added to the huge controversy surrounding the dramatic Megaupload takedown, but until now has only been described in words. Today that changed. 3News’ Campbell Live show has been running footage captured from the onboard cameras of helicopters involved in the raid. 14. By Rob Markman Rick Ross has accomplished quite a lot in the past year, but the Miami rapper admits that he'd be nowhere without his team. He hit a few roadblocks on the way to releasing God Forgives, I Don't, but after a couple of health scares slowed him down in October, he got right back up, with help from his power circle. "When you sitting down at a desk and you're jotting down your ideas on the calendar, of course you never penciled in those few setbacks," Rick Ross said when he appeared on "RapFix Live" on August 1. "Regardless of what they were, it's a setback, and a setback goes against what you're trying to accomplish." In October, Ross suffered two separate seizures in one day. "We dusted that off and went back to work immediately," Ross said, crediting manager Gucci Pucci, Maybach A&R Spiff TV and the staff at Def Jam Records for holding things down. Rozay also praised his mother and kids for helping him through the difficult time. "They soldiers. My family are soldiers, from my mom all the way down to my beautiful daughter and my little son," he said. "They were right by my side, really, when I was at the hospital." When the first-week sales for GFID are officially tallied Wednesday, Ross is expected to notch his fourth #1 album, and though it's his name that receives top billing on the LP, Rozay knows he couldn't have done it alone. "I got a wonderful team, and that's why I keep my circle small, because everybody pretty much carry their weight and do what they supposed to do to help me out as much as they can," he said. "I think the results most definitely speak for their self." View the full article

 18. In June, adult studio Corbin Fisher (through owners Liberty Media) sued the operators of file-hosting service Oron for $34.8 million, claiming that they induce the sharing of copyright infringing files via their service. Liberty Media’s lawyer Marc Randazza went in with all guns blazing, describing Oron as ‘criminals’ who do not qualify for safe harbor under the DMCA. Oron’s funds were frozen but despite a small part later being released, it became clear that the service would have difficulty continuing without access to much, much more. In early July it became apparent that the companies had been attempting to reach a settlement, details of which were leaked online following a poor redaction of court documents. There was a significant gap between what Liberty asked for and what Oron were prepared to give. However, while Oron insisted no final agreement had been reached, Liberty felt that at some point a deal had been struck and went on to ask the court to enforce the terms. Yesterday the court did just that. “There is nothing in the Settlement Letter that indicates that Defendant did not intend to be presently bound by the proposed terms or that a future writing was required,” U.S. District Court Judge Gloria M. Navarro wrote in her ruling. “The requirement for the Plaintiff’s attorney to sign and return indicates that the parties do agree that all these terms are acceptable and binding. If this was only a proposal of terms there probably would not be a requirement for Plaintiff’s counsel to sign and return.” Judge Navarro went on to find that the settlement negotiations between Oron and Liberty did amount to an enforceable contract. “The Settlement Letter written by Defendant was an offer, accepted by Plaintiff when its counsel signed the letter. There was a meeting of the minds as to all material terms on July 5, 2012, when Plaintiff agreed that the settlement would include dismissal with prejudice of [alleged owner and operator of Oron] Mr. Bochenko,” Judge Navarro wrote. “There settlement includes valuable consideration on the part of both Plaintiff and Defendant. In this case, the Court can compel compliance because there are no uncertain material terms that remain. Accordingly, the Court grants Plaintiff’s Motion to Enforce Settlement.” That settlement is detailed in court papers as follows: 1. Oron pays Liberty Media $550,000. . . . 8. Once payment is received by both parties, both proceedings in NV and HK will be dismissed with prejudice, and in the event that Oron breaks any part of the deal, the claims may be reinstated via arbitration after a 30 day “notice and cure” period. . . . 12. Liberty agree to announce publicly that after a careful review of the facts they believe Oron is protected by the DMCA safe harbor and that a review of the actual files shows that there never was any child porn on Oron’s site. . . . 14. Liberty will immediately, once the terms of the agreement are agreed to issue a letter asking that the HK bank accounts be unfrozen allowing the payment to the Randazza Trust and then to [former Oron webhosting provider] Leaseweb as well as send a letter to Leaseweb asking them to allow Oron ten (10) days to pay as the settlement of the matter is imminent. There are at least 19 points to the settlement agreement so as can be seen from the numbering scheme on the items above a significant number are missing from court papers. As previously revealed, Oron were prepared to hand over the identities of its allegedly copyright infringing customers to Liberty and help the studio take legal action against them. But while the enforcement of the settlement allows Oron to continue with its business in theory, problems remain. Firstly, Oron’s parent company accounts are still frozen, “in order to satisfy any fee award, which may be sought by Plaintiff, but which must be brought within thirty (30) days of this Order.” Furthermore, as a cyberlocker Oron is currently doing no business at all. The site disappeared from the Internet several days ago, ostensibly to move to a new host, but it is yet to reappear or post any advisory on its homepage. 25. Who could forget the reign of Roc-A-Fella Records? With a roster that once boasted Beanie Sigel, Cam'ron and Kanye West in its heyday, it was Memphis Bleek who first emerged as the company's second star, alongside Jay-Z. Now a 13-year rap veteran, the Coming of Age spitter is set to make his very first appearance on "RapFix Live" Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on RapFix.MTV.com. Catch Memphis Bleek and Benzino on "RapFix Live," Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on RapFix.MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. Send your questions for the artists @MTVRapFix! Bleek famously got his start making a key contribution to Jay-Z's 1996 classic debut Reasonable Doubt. On the hustling ode "Coming of Age," a then teenaged Bleek set up a bright feature that has resulted in four solo albums, including his platinum 2001 offering The Understanding. Though most of the Roc's key players have since disbanded, Memph has maintained a close relationship with Hov while independently releasing his mixtapes in conjunction with his own Get Low record company. Bleek dropped his last tape Kush, Vol. 2 in June. Expect the well-traveled MC to hit the "RapFix" couch and talk with host Sway Calloway about his career highlights and what's to come. Bleek isn't the only guest this week, "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" star Benzino will also be stopping through. Benzino, who was once a member of the Boston rap group the Almighty RSO, has continually reinvented himself as a rapper and a publisher, once playing a key role in The Source magazine and now Hip-Hop Weekly. These days Zino is wearing his heart on his sleeve, as his relationship with up-and-coming singer Karlie Redd plays out on the new VH1 television series. You're not going to want to miss it.
