  1. I'm just not hearing it. Is it the from the "Coming Apart" song?
  2. I haven't seen any of those movies.
  3. Damn! That kid has skills! :strumma:
  4. I have watched a few trick shot competitions on ESPN. Those guys are amazing.
  5. I'm not seeing it. I haven't used soulseek in a long time, but I think I did everything right. I have a list of rooms, but no BeatKing.
  6. I was listening to the Armand Van Helden song My My My. I decided to find out who he sampled for the lyrics. I have found 2 different stories. Both say he sampled Gary Wright's music. One said it was from the song "Comin' Apart" and the other said it was from the song "Dreamweaver". I have listened to Dreamweaver and I'm just not hearing the sample anywhere, nor do I think the sample could have come from Gary Wright. It sounds more like Michael Jackson or something. Does anyone have any ideas as to who this lyrics sample is actually from?
  7. The main bands in they focused on in the movie were Joy Division, New Order, and the Happy Mondays. My favorite of the 3 would be New Order. I like all 3 bands really, but I really got into New Order in the early 90's when I was going to the dance clubs alot. New Order and the Happy Mondays are pretty good to dance to while Joy Division is a little slower and more dark sounding. I would definitely recommend New Order. They got into the techno scene really early and I think they did alot in helping shape the techno sound you might think of today. As they mention in the movie, Blue Monday was at the time the biggest selling 12 inch single. I liked how in the movie you really could see the progression of music from a post-punk scene to a DJ driven dance club scene. Also Wilson didn't keep contracts with his artists, so they kept all rights to their own music. I thought that was just awesome.
  8. Last night I watched this film and I must say I was quite impressed by this docu-drama. I have been a big fan of some of the bands portrayed, so that made it even more interesting. The whole movie takes place in Manchester, and that got me thinking. How many of our members from the UK have seen this movie? How acurate is it? How many of you were into this scene? How many of our UK members ever went to the Hacienda club? I was just interested in your experiences in Manchester and the whole music scene. Here is a link to the movie site. http://www.partypeoplemovie.com/
  9. Thanks guys. I'll check out those programs.
  10. I'm not sure what kind of software I'm looking for. I've never even tried anything like this, but I've been thinking about trying to make some music in the techno genre by sampling some beats and other sounds and then putting them all together to make an original piece. Like I said I have absolutely no experience doing this. Does anyone know a good software program for beginners that would enable me to do this? Maybe a tutorial site also? Any help would be much appreciated.
